Job description

We are Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking.

We want to create a nation where walking is the natural choice for everyday, local journeys; free from congested roads and pollution, reducing the risk of preventable illnesses and social isolation. We want to achieve a better walking environment and to inspire people of all generations to enjoy the benefits the simple act of walking brings.

Join us and together we will create a walking nation.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team and work across Cheshire West and Chester area to coordinate the delivery of project work with primary and secondary schools and act as a key contact for the delivery partner liaising with any other stakeholders as appropriate.

You will be responsible for work with both primary and secondary schools to promote and embed schemes such as Next Steps, Modeshift STARS, WOW – the Walk to School challenge and the ‘Let's Walk’ pedestrian training programme. You will work with the local authority partner to identify key areas and communities where School Streets will provide the most benefit and with local schools to understand their willingness to be prioritised for the future implementation of School Streets in the area.

Some project delivery work outside of the Cheshire West and Chester area will be required.

This will be a varied role and an ability to embrace a diversity of tasks is essential.

Living Streets is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk; and expects all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be subject to background and criminal records checks as relevant to the job role.
