The wider Trusts & Statutory Team has grown considerably - increasing its annual income by more than £6 million since 2017/18. With bespoke training opportunities, room for significant development and growth, and the support of colleagues and resource teams, the role will provide the opportunity to make a positive change for children and families across the UK.
The successful candidate will have:

About the role:
Kinship is in our third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We are looking for a new Associate Director of Peer Support and Community to build and develop our model and to take the team to the next phase of growth and impact.
Your first priority will be to oversee delivery of the Department for Education national Peer Support Service contract in England. You will lead the development of our hub and spoke model, with an enhanced offer of national resources and support together with a continued focus on on-the-ground support for kinship carers to set up and sustain a network of peer support groups. This will include taking leadership for developing the Kinship model of community engagement and integrating across all our ‘in person’ and digital services and activities.
You will ensure a collaborative approach with services, alignment with national and local campaigning activity, and work closely with marketing and communications colleagues to support kinship carer reach and engagement with our community offer.
We’re taking an integrated approach to our services, so you’ll collaborate well across teams to ensure that support groups and their leaders have easy access to high quality advice, information and training. The team will need to work closely with colleagues delivering our new training and support contract, funded by the Department for Education.

Associate Director of Student Engagement (Maternity Cover)
Salary: £40,950 - £47,250 (plus a cost of living award will be added from August)
Location: University of Manchester Students' Union, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9PR
Contract: Fixed-Term, ending on 31st July 2025
Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week (open to part time working requests of 0.6 FTE)
Do you love developing managers and leaders? Do you ask great questions and create space and safety for people to figure things out? Are you comfortable managing people who are more expert in things than you? Do you enjoy solving organisational/people puzzles and helping to guide and navigate teams to do the same? Do you value and seek co-leadership with beneficiaries (in our case, students)? If yes, this is the role for you!
About the Students’ Union
The Students’ Union is a registered charity and is independent from the University (although we work closely together). We are a student-led organisation and exist to help students make the most of their time at Manchester and get the best for their future. We’re the home of societies, volunteering, student media, advice, campaigns, student democracy and events.
About the role
We’re looking for an Associate Director to provide senior leadership to student facing teams in the students’ union. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a competent team and provide cross-organisational stewardship with a team of senior leaders. You’ll be getting up to speed with our culture, organisational approaches in your first month or so alongside the person going on maternity leave. There is good support around our senior leaders from the director team, external coaching is available to anyone who requests it, and there are well developed people, finance and compliance functions. We have requisite knowledge around the role to make this suitable for someone with transferrable skills from outside Students’ Unions and if you’re from Students’ Unions, you’ll be working alongside great people to bounce ideas and thoughts off.
As an organisation, we’ve got a clear strategic framework, insight, people and values frameworks so your contribution will be to role model great behaviours and maintain excellent cross-directorate working. You’ll need to be able to pull different threads together and ensure our work is aligned to our strategy and values. You’ll be providing political advice to the elected student officers so being able to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and navigate others through it is important.

We are searching for a new strategic leader at Bloody Good Period. The Head of Communications and Campaigns will play a pivotal and strategic role in delivering creative and effective campaigns and comms that align with our wider influencing work, maximising opportunities to influence change as we approach a General Election, and beyond.
Bloody Good Period’s brand and communications have had huge traction and influence in the last few years. Our mission of menstrual equity resonates strongly with a range of stakeholders including individual supporters, corporates, parliamentarians and celebrities, and we have developed a strong brand which is frequently sought after for high-profile partnerships.
We are also dialling up the activist movement quality of our work, building on strong foundations in terms of our brand, reputation and relationships. We think menstrual equity is a bedrock of renewing and improving the way the UK works, and the way we campaign for that and communicate our thoughts and demands will always be fundamental to our success in achieving our mission.
The Head of Communications and Campaigns will be working across the organisation, and crucially alongside our Experts by Experience forum, strengthening our communication strategy whilst developing and implementing an ambitious campaign strategy to engage and mobilise both existing and new supporters.
We are an inclusive, feminist organisation, which champions remote and flexible working, and puts self-care at the heart of what we do. We work hard and deliver, but we do not overwork. We enjoy our work and take pride in it.

While the successful candidate will be selected purely on merit, in the event of a tie between two candidates with equal suitability, we may select a candidate with lived experience of the issues we are seeking to address through our work.
We recognise that many potential candidates who bring the voice and lived experience that we need, may have had less opportunity to develop a track record in these roles. Bloody Good Period prioritises the development needs of everyone who works with us, including in this role.
