What we do: we partner with schools, universities and businesses to run face-to-face and virtual coaching programmes for disadvantaged young people with relatable role models who are just a few years ahead in their life journey, we help raise their confidence, independence, resiliance and attainment. Our coahes are typically undergraduate volunteers or senior pupils in schools who we train and support to become effective coaches.
The Challenge
By the age of 5, 43% of disadvantaged young people have not reached a good level of literacy and numeracy.
57% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary schools without reaching the expected standard in reading and maths.
A disadvantaged child is 50% less likely to achieve passes in GCSE English and Maths.
Only 16% of Free School Meal eligible young people attend university, compared to more than 75% of those who attend an independent school.
1 in 3 young people frpm disadvantaged backgrounds are not in any form of sustained education, apprenticship or employment five years after their GCSEs.
1 in 5 undergraduates from disadvantaged backgrounds don't complete their degree, double the rate for the most advantaged.
Those in elite occupations from disadvantaged backgrounds earn £6,400 per year less in the same role, and take 25% longer to gain a promotion.
Our Impact
We have been delivering coaching programmes across England since 2014, supporting over 15,000 young people in that time. We have a small but growing number of programmes directly coaching undergraduates from underrepresented backgrounds (our Lifecycle programme). However, the majority of our work and impact takes place in schools, involving us training undergraduates (our Core programme) or senior pupils (our Peer to Peer programme) to be coaches to younger pupils.
We are proud that our programmes demonstrate consistently strong impact on the outcomes most closely associated with improving social mobility: attainment, social & emotional development, and school attendance.
Our most recent independent evaluation found:
Increases in maths (11.1%) and English (5.1%) attainment.
Significant improvements (min 8%) in metacognition, self-efficacy, and motivation.
Persistently absent pupils’ school attendance increased by 11%!

We are a small but mighty team, with a mixture of experiences including youth work, teaching, music, finance, social work and many others. Role description
In the 25/26 academic year, we will be expanding our work significantly, supporting close to 3,000 young people from Cornwall to Northumberland. The majority of this growth will be through a one-year project we are running in partnership with the Education Endowment Foundation.
This project is a randomised control trial (RCT) of our Peer to Peer coaching programme, where we will be working with an additional 50 new secondary schools. We have seen consistently strong impact from this programme on the attainment, social & emotional development, and school attendance of disadvantaged young people for many years. This EEF supported RCT now gives us the opportunity to test this impact at significant scale, specifically on the maths attainment, maths self-efficacy, and school attendance of disadvantaged Y10 and Y7 pupils (see here for more details).
To support with this delivery, we are looking to recruit additional fixed-term (October 2025 - July 2026) Programme Managers, both full and part time, in the following regions:

You will have end-to-end ownership of your own allocation of programmes, which may involve a mixture of Peer to Peer, Core and Lifecycle programmes. Whilst delivering our programmes you will be required to build excellent relationships with our school and university partners, support with training and developing our undergraduate volunteers, use our evaluation frameworks to assess impact, and lead on conversations related to retention and expansion.
Candidates should be able to cover all locations in the given region they are applying for, so access to a car would be an advantage, but is not essential. At times team members may be asked to travel to a location outside of their region, but this will be rare and sufficient notice and TOIL will be given where appropriate.
All roles are on fixed term contracts starting Monday 6th October 2025 and finishing 31st July 2026. The majority of direct delivery in schools will begin early November. The first few weeks in the role will combine a mixture of induction, training, programme observations, programme set up, and volunteer recruitment for our Core programmes.
Whilst there is the potential for a permanent role beyond the length of this project, this will be based on our levels of school retention and business development, and so cannot be guaranteed.

Managing and delivering programmes

Coordinate and run multiple in-school and online programmes, typically requiring travel to schools most working days.

Person Specification
Essential characteristics and experience
Below are the key attributes candidates will need to be confident of demonstrating.

Passion for social mobility. We have big aims and are looking for those who share our desire to make education fairer in the UK.

Ability to think on your feet. Delivering programmes with young people can be unpredictable, so you will need to be comfortable working reactively to solve challenges at short notice.

Programme or project management experience. In particular the ability to be organised, plan ahead, and manage competing priorities and timelines.

Experience with young people. Comfortable running a session or delivering a workshop with a group of young people from age 8-18. (Please note, the vast majority of our programmes are at secondary phase).

Relationship building and facilitating. This is a public-facing role so you will be involved in communicating and delivering workshops to groups as well as communicating our mission to a wide range of stakeholders (business leaders, senior members of MATs, universities etc.).

Excellent communication skills, particularly public speaking. You should be comfortable talking to groups of 5 or 500.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Programme Manager is a key role in the Rio Ferdinand Foundation’s isle of Ireland team. This post is responsible for managing our SEUPB funded PEACE Academy programme supporting young people in Belfast and Sligo.
The aim of this new three-year programme, is to deliver and evidence a PEACE Academy pathway of engagement, learning, social action and employability that will inspire young people from communities in Northern Ireland and Ireland to create shared experiences and build a long-term response to sectarianism, racism and hate on a cross community and cross border basis.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role will:
§ Establish and develop our new PEACE Academy Programme in partnership with Glentoran FC and Sligo Rovers FC together with a network of grass-root partners, as well as community policing and other strategic stakeholders.
§ Line manage a new programme staff team including 2x Regional Coordinators, a part time Training Lead, part time Monitoring Officer, a part time Admin Officer and a part time Finance Officer as well as sessional staff.
§ Lead and manage a three-year cross border and cross community youth and community development programme engaging Catholic / Nationalist / Republican (CNR), Protestant/ Unionist/ Loyalist (PUL), and newcomer communities.
§ Oversee the development of sessions which utilise youth culture as a platform for personal development, working with your staff team to design, deliver and manage engaging sessions and opportunities utilising music and the creative arts, sport, and digital media.
§ Develop, and oversee the delivery of our youth development pathway across both regions, including twice weekly sessions, workshops, seminars and accredited training pathways, mentoring, cross-border events and initiatives, careers events and pathways with a range of commercial partners, and strategic stakeholder engagement.
§ Quality assure the delivery of sessions and outputs linked to the personal development of young people.
§ Encourage and support the involvement of volunteers from the local community.
§ Develop positive relationships with key strategic partners involved in the project and ensure links are made and information shared with appropriate agencies.
§ Work closely with our CEO and Director for Ireland & Northern Ireland on the strategic positioning and development of the Foundation and the legacy of the PEACE Academy programme.
§ Work with our Director of Operations to establish and implement a robust monitoring, evaluation and learning framework for the programme with key data capture tools in place from the outset.
§ Be responsible for the delivery of specified targets for the programme through producing regular action plans and work programmes, ensuring that all project planning, monitoring, and evaluation procedures are implemented and adhered to.
§ Ensure all monitoring data is captured and recorded against targets ensuring funder reports are produced and meetings attended as and when required.
§ Ensure all administrative and financial functions of the programme are conducted in accordance with funder requirements
§ Work with our Directors on the financial and wider reporting of the programme as required by our funder.
§ Work with an external monitoring agency to ensure their independent impact evaluation is completed alongside our own internal monitoring.
§ Work with our Director of Development on shaping and implementing a communications strategy for the PEACE Academy.
§ Keep up to date with local and regional trends in sports/arts for social change and work with young people.
§ Actively represent Rio Ferdinand Foundation at working groups, initiatives, and events.
§ Assist and contribute to the on-going development and strategy of the Rio Ferdinand Foundation’s work in Sligo and Belfast as well as across the island of Ireland.
§ Develop and maintain key relationships with partners from across various sectors including, statutory, private, business and third sectors.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the CEO, we are looking for an experienced charity finance person, with accountancy qualifications. (CIMA,CIPFA, CCAB, ACCA, AAT etc)
This a pivotal role and the post holder will be a member of the Trust’s Senior Management Team, with responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the Trust’s finances, working closely with CEO and Board.
The role would suit someone who is motivated by the Trust’s purpose and who is good at building relationships.

Main responsibilities
· Alongside external accountant, manage the maintenance of the financial accounting system and monthly accounting processes (BACS runs, Expenses, Accruals, Prepayments, Deferred Income, Payroll etc)
· Review management accounts and liaise with accountants over variances.
· Lead on annual budget process
· Maintain and report on regular forecasts throughout the year
· Monitor individual programme funding to ensure all spend is within budget

We have just finalised an exciting new three year strategy to drive impact at scale for victim-survivors. We are now looking for an exceptional candidate to lead some of our financial services relationships and consultancy work and support SEA in its mission to raise awareness of economic abuse and transform responses to it within the financial services sector.

About the role
This hands-on leadership role combines operational excellence with strong interpersonal skills. Reporting to the Director of Design and Technology, you'll manage a team of Project Managers whilst working closely with senior leadership to oversee project delivery, financial planning, organisational systems and growth.
You'll implement best practices for data management, risk management, and compliance in a collaborative way that supports our mission-driven work.
About us
Act Build Change is a transformative organising school that makes community organising and collective care methods accessible to everyone who wants to end injustice.
Since 2019, we've supported over 150 collectives and organisations across the UK and Ireland, working with those with disabilities, migrants and refugees, young people, carers, working class communities, LGBTQ+ collectives, those living in poverty and the intersections across those identities.
Our work includes delivering training and resources, supporting communities to navigate difference and change, and providing coaching for organisers and movement leaders.
Key responsibilities
Project management
Oversee project delivery across our organisation, ensuring quality and efficiency:

Develop frameworks for project tracking and reporting.

Manage and develop a team of project managers, providing resources and support.

Monitor budgets and timelines across internal and external projects.
Financial management
Ensure financial sustainability and responsible resource management:

Support financial planning and reporting with our board and senior leadership team.

Oversee invoices, expenses and budget adherence.

Assess financial risks and manage potential challenges.
Systems and processes
Build and maintain operational infrastructure that enables our effectiveness:

Develop strategies, policies and procedures with our senior leadership team.

Maintain and oversee our systems for efficient project tracking.

Ensure agreed standards are met across our team and resolve operational issues.
Organisational growth
Drive strategic growth and development:

Develop business strategies for growth across products, services and recruitment.

Analyse our data to support strategic goals and tracking.

Support our recruitment efforts and staff policy development.
What we’re looking for
Essential experience and skills
-
Proven operations leadership experience, including managing teams and complex projects.

Strong project management and delivery track record across multiple initiatives.

Financial management expertise including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.

Experience with recruitment, performance management, and policy development.

Experience with data management, reporting, and operational systems.
-
Comfortable learning and adopting new technologies and processes quickly.

Excellent communication skills, including ability to navigate difficult conversations professionally.

High attention to detail and meticulous approach to operational standards.

Ability to work remotely and manage diverse responsibilities with autonomy.

What we offer
Salary and benefits
-
£49,500-£62,000 salary, depending on experience.
-
Permanent contract with option for 4 or 5 days per week (salary and benefits will be pro-rated).

Over 30 days of leave, including 25 days of annual leave, one day off for your birthday, one week off in August for learning and rest, plus Christmas close.

Pension scheme and enhanced parental leave and sick pay.
Working arrangements

Fully remote working (must be within 4 hours of central London).

Access to office space in London when needed.

Co-working space expenses available for those based outside London.

Occasional travel to London may be required (up to twice a month), with expenses covered.

Team away days around the UK (up to four times a year), with expenses covered.
