The Partnerships Manager will manage a portfolio of commercial and fundraising accounts totalling c.£250k, as well as some new business development. The portfolio includes a £60k per annum CRM relationship with Plum & Ashby, focused around the Wave of Light candle campaign for Baby Loss Awareness week, with lots of influencer and comms engagement. The new business element will support the Senior Partnerships Manager and the Head of Corporate in their new strategy for increased brand, strategic and coty partnerships.

Key responsibilities:

• Account manage and build strong relationships with corporate partners at a 5-figure+ level
• Create and deliver high quality account management and stewardship plans for your accounts

About You:

With your proven experience of philanthropy fundraising, you’ll have personally secured 5 figure + gifts from a major donor. With your ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with donors, you’ll be able to adapt your communication style to articulate complex issues in a succinct and compelling way. 

You’ll have project management skills to enable you to devise donor engagement plans and work with senior volunteers and trustees to develop funding proposals and identify opportunities.

• Actively work to secure income to meet agreed personal and team fundraising targets in line with the organisation’s operational priorities to meet the needs of the communities and individuals we serve.
• Identify potential prospects, working alongside the Prospect Researcher, Senior Management colleagues and Trustees to continue to identify new prospects to grow the pipeline.
• Build, manage and maintain a portfolio of donors from £5,000 gifts upwards, stewarding relationships to ensure donor satisfaction and long-term financial commitment, including detailed and timely reporting as well as engagement with senior stakeholders within St John.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in fundraising to identify major donor prospects and opportunities to maximise donor experience – such as work with Supporter Engagement and the Community Fundraising team.

Fundraising and project development:

· Lead the implementation of Bexley Mencap’s Fundraising Strategy; reviewing existing fundraising strategies, identifying opportunities for development and introducing innovative strategies to achieve fundraising goals.

In this role, you will pro-actively lead the development of their Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships team as it seeks to acquire new charity partnerships and high value donors and build on their existing funding base. You will be comfortable with using a wide range of fundraising and marketing channels to acquire new funders, as well as steward existing donors.

Your key responsibilities include:

Philanthropy and fundraising partnerships programme management

This is an exciting 2 day a week role to be part of the growing Newham District Foodbank and Ascension’s Advice Service. On 9th June 2021 Ascension’s foodbank officially became part of the Trussell Trust network. We were named Newham District Foodbank, because our plan is to expand to more than one distribution centre to ensure that people across the whole of Newham are well supported. As part of the strategy, we have already secured funding to have debt and benefit advisors supporting each new distribution centre.

In this role you will manage the poverty response work of Ascension Community Trust, including its foodbank. You will provide high level strategic work, including liaising with donors, referral partners and other local foodbanks and support new partners into Newham District Foodbank. Your role will include fundraising for and reporting on the work of Newham District Foodbank, including local partnership funding. About the role

Becoming the Programme Marketing Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is a fantastic opportunity to help drive progress for women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by engaging more people in our work.

The key purpose of this role is to effectively market our programmes to participants – chiefly our HerVenture business skills microlearning app and our sector-leading Mentoring Women in Business programme.

This will span three main projects:

· to successfully manage a marketing agency to effectively market the HerVenture app to women in South Africa (as part of a fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Mar ‘25);

· to successfully manage the same marketing agency to promote the app in Nigeria (as part of a separate fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Dec ‘24); and

· to effectively promote the opportunity to become a mentor to a woman entrepreneur through our Mentoring Women in Business programme to paying professionals worldwide. Your objective will be to secure 18+ paid mentors for the Nov ’24 programme intake and 20+ for the May ’25 intake.

Following the completion of the two HerVenture marketing projects, you will also lead other programme marketing initiatives in 2025. These will be determined in late 2024.

Following the May ’25 Mentoring intake you will deliver a strategy, harnessing your learning and analysis to outline an approach for marketing the programme to paying mentors in future.

You will also be called on to support other forms of programme marketing on an ad hoc basis, for example advising on development of corporate pitch decks, or co-designing materials for fundraising events.

This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing, however this is a highly collaborative role and you will also work closely with the Entrepreneurship programmes team and the Programme Funding team to develop and deliver plans and manage projects.

Our ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and motivated marketer with experience in ‘selling’ professional development / online volunteering opportunities, and in managing agencies and contractors to deliver on fixed projects as aligned to good marketing practices. You should be highly organised and goals-driven, with a collaborative approach, a growth-oriented mindset, and a strong desire to harness the power of marketing to support women’s economic empowerment.

Role Purpose

The purpose of the Fundraiser role is primarily to raise funds from UK trusts, foundations and statutory funders and to identify, generate, grow and maintain this vital income stream. Some engagement to support other strands of fundraising will be required.

​Context

The post-holder will work to the Chief Financial Officer and closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other managers of Cathedral teams. Their role will involve research and information gathering on potential donors and funding opportunities, a creative and broad approach to application planning and writing, good written and interpersonal skills and attention to detail in managing application and post-grant reporting processes. It requires the post holder to take a wide interest in all aspects of Cathedral life in order to deliver effective funding support to the work of colleagues.

Southwark Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship for over 1400 years. Now it stands on the vibrant and exciting regenerated south bank of the Thames surrounded by cultural venues such as Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and Borough Market, the offices of major companies as well as schools and diverse residential communities. It is an inclusive Christian community that offers a welcome to all.

The Cathedral’s mission, ministry and musical tradition are core to its life as a Cathedral and a parish church serving the community. It also relies on the valuable financial contribution made by its income generating activities such as its shop, café, conference rooms, corporate events and concerts. It is a very busy place, attracting 200,000 visitors a year to the Cathedral, its churchyard, shop and café. The Cathedral relies on a small but dedicated team to be inclusive and welcoming to all. Donations from visitors, our cathedral community and crucially from trusts and foundations are vital in supporting the work of our team to deliver its work and to conserve the fabric of our heritage site.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Identification of Funders

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of our research projects and research funding plans, including in response to requests from Heads of Department and Senior Management Team;
• Research, identify and prioritise potential grants, personal & institutional trusts and statutory funders and funding opportunities, including keeping up to date with new fundraising opportunities in the faith and heritage sectors and in London;

Fundraising

• Support the implementation of a trusts and foundations programme, with a view to increasing funding for flagship projects alongside core unrestricted funding;
• Assist with the organisation of fundraising events as required;

Contact and Liaison

• Manage the Cathedral’s donor records including gift aid declarations, personal information and legacy pledges and other non-financial information provided by donors - adhering to data protection best practice at all times;
• Liaise with the Marketing & Communications Manager to analyse the existing donor communications and suggest improved methods of engagement;
• Liaise with the Marketing & Communications Manager to arrange for the creation and maintenance of pages on the Cathedral website that highlight the fundraising activity and communicate successes achieved;
• Act as the primary point of contact for all existing and potential trust and grants funders, directing enquiries as appropriate;
• Develop a network of strong relationships with existing and prospective grant, trust and statutory funders;

Information Management, Monitoring and Evaluation

• Maintain the Cathedral’s fundraising database, ensuring all records are updated and maintained correctly in accordance with the Cathedral’s data protection policy;
• Manage the reporting, recording and administration progress of existing grants, advising relevant members of the team well in advance of reporting deadlines;
• Work with others to develop and implement effective evaluation, monitoring and reporting processes for funders, and ensure reporting requirements are fulfilled and activities remain outcome and impact focused;
• Manage and maintain records and monitor progress of applications and relationships, including working to agreed KPIs;
• Prepare regular progress reports on fundraising and activities for SMT and the Chapter as required;
• Use the Cathedral’s fundraising database to analyse the success rates to support fundraising strategy and individual projects;

Terms and Conditions

Working Hours

The working hours shall be 35 hours per week (exclusive of meal breaks). Some out of hours working will be required to support meetings and events and this will be notified in advance. Time off in lieu will be awarded in line with Southwark Cathedral’s policy.

Annual Leave

25 days per annum as well as statutory bank holidays, with an additional 5 days (pro-rata) after 10 years service. 

Probation

The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

Season Ticket Loan

Once the probationary period has been completed satisfactorily, the person appointed will be eligible to take out a season ticket loan.

Pension

The person appointed will be eligible to join a defined contributions pension scheme managed by the Church Workers Pension Fund. The Cathedral will contribute half of the annual premium of 10% of salary.

Working Expenses

Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

You will support the compliant delivery of our Face to Face strategy, including using data and insight to deliver strong ROI and KPI’s across a variety of channels and regular giving products (including monthly donations, sponsorship/ value-exchange and lottery.) You will also be responsible for the training and monitoring of the fundraising agents who deliver our Face to Face campaigns.

Reporting into the Face to Face Manager, you will either be able to work in a hybrid way working between home and 2 days per week at our London office or remotely working from home with a requirement to attend our London office for a team anchor day once a month.

About You:

You will have experience of training and presenting as well as supporting Face to Face campaigns ideally within a third sector fundraising role. Key to this role will be the ability to build, manage and develop relationships. 

Additionally, you’ll be able to run analysis and have experience using Dynamics 365, Raisers Edge or a similar database. 

About The Role

• Provide continual training and compliance monitoring support to our Face to Face partners in the execution of all door, private Sites and events fundraising, this includes leading on developing new opportunities in conjunction with St John events.
• Oversee and collaboratively work with our Telephone Fundraising partners on their training and compliance of all deliverables such as welcome calls, upgrades, reactivations and other fundraising campaigns – includes caller listening
• Oversee regular audits of agents, to monitor against key auditory compliance and performance metrics.
• Manage relationships with our Face to Face partners with training, development and materials, and performance reviews. Monitoring various forms or training and reviewing inductions in line with our agreed contract.
• Build a strong knowledge of all areas of St John Ambulance’s work, carrying out continual research and gathering information, case studies and photos for use in training booklets, scripts and materials. Where appropriate, to liaise with external agencies such as designers and copywriters.
