Job description

The Foundation

Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) is a public body sponsored by the UK Government responsible for supporting the establishment of effective multi-party democracy in developing countries.

WFD has been active in the MENA region since 2006 and has a strong track record in both North MENA and Middle East. In the Levant, WFD have an established portfolio of projects, with partners and offices in Lebanon and Jordan.

Senior Programme Manager (Levant Region) MENA

WFD is looking now looking to recruit a senior programme manager to join the Middle East North (MENA) team.

You will be joining the MENA team at a very exciting time: WFD’s work in the region is thriving and there is huge potential to further expand our portfolio and presence, which we expect will create exciting opportunities in the team for personal and professional development and progression.


Main Purpose of the Role 

The Senior Programme Manager is central to the success of the programmes in the Levant region and this future growth.

Your remit will be to lead and oversee programmes and field teams in the implementation of programmes in the MENA Levant region. Under the guidance of the Regional Director MENA you will support; effective programming, monitoring and evaluation and business development across multiple programmes within the designated region.

In addition, you will use your exceptional engagement skills to build and maintain solid relationships at all levels including with; senior officials, politicians and representatives of international organisations and NGOs, ensuring WFD is placed as a key organisation in providing democracy and governance support.

You will be based in Victoria, London with the opportunity to travel occasionally overseas to support programme implementation and oversee activities in the Levant region as required.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience

The key skills we are you looking for are: Exceptional organisation and communication skills, in-depth professional programme management experience at a senior level; solid understanding of the parliament/democratic challenges in the MENA region; significant background in managing funded programmes; and proven financial and senior stakeholder management skills.
