The purpose of this role is to provide efficient and comprehensive administrative support to the joint directors of development and engagement (D&E), and director of policy and strategy (P&S). Role Summary

This position provides key support for the policy and research functions of the charity, in addition to collaborating on campaigns and public affairs work. You will be responsible for carrying out primary research relevant to the charity’s policy and research functions. You’ll be monitoring and collating new policy and research materials and contributing to public communications including report-writing, blog posts and social media activity. You’ll be providing input into strategic planning regarding policy and research activities. You’ll connect with researchers and policy people from other charities and from universities. Finally, you’ll be attending conferences and meetings on behalf of the charity.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Policy

• Support the P&RM, DR&PA and CEO in responding to public consultations, advising policymakers and working with national policy and research bodies as appropriate.

• Represent the charity in meetings with policy partners where appropriate.

• Attend policy and research conferences on behalf of the charity, providing feedback to the team on key learning and opportunities that arise.

• Work with the SC&PA and DR&PA to draw up influencing strategies to target key stakeholders on policy priorities.

• Monitor external research that helps our policy work and opportunities for collaboration.

• Work with the SC&PA  to engage campaigners in our policy work.

Research

• Work with the P&RM to carry out research activities relevant to the policy and research functions of the charity; including collating and analysing data, and co-authoring reports for both internal and public purposes.

• Work with the P&RM and the Communications and Marketing teams to produce engaging and accessible communication of research findings for a range of audiences. 

• Monitor and collate new policy and research materials, including research reports, policy documents and media activity. Work with the P&RM to produce internal reports where appropriate and to ensure the charity’s activities reflect and respond to the wider policy and research environment.

• Work with the P&RM on external research projects funded by the charity, including support with assessing the quality of bids by external researchers. 

Across both areas

• Produce social media communications where relevant to policy and research. Work with colleagues across the Research and Public Affairs and Communications and Marketing teams to develop strategies for maximising impact, especially in digital communications.

• Contribute to strategic planning by contributing to staff meetings, producing supporting materials and providing feedback on public affairs.

The postholder will also be expected to:

• attend training courses and develop skills as required, sharing learning with other staff as relevant

• in unusual circumstances, work weekend and / or evening hours, for which time in lieu will be given

• undertake other reasonable work as requested by the P&RM.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Fundraising Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Income and Partnerships Development team. This person will be reporting to the Head of Partnerships and will coordinate all fundraising activities and volunteers from our alumni, sponsor firms and SEO London supporters. This will be a hands-on role that includes project management, teamwork, reporting and a proactive approach to fundraising initiatives. Additionally, responsibilities include the preparation of cases for support for funding applications and providing guidance for proposal drafting. Furthermore, the role involves maintaining and reporting on funding requirements, encompassing impact reports, milestones, and renewals. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Further Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategies: Work closely with the Head of Partnerships to further develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies. Execute fundraising plans to achieve income targets and ensure long-term sustainability.
• Grant Writing and Proposal Development: Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, government organisations and other donor oganisations. Prepare grant expressions of interest, proposals and applications that effectively communicate the need for our work and SEO London’s mission, programmes, and impact.
• Fundraising Events Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including F1 challenges, Royal Parks Half Marathon and any other fundraising activities. Oversee all aspects of event logistics, marketing, sponsorship, and volunteer coordination.
• Fundraising Volunteers Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer interactions and contributions using excel and other tools. Volunteers to include sponsor firm reps, alumni, our students and other SEO London supporters. Generate reports and analytics to track fundraising progress and campaign effectiveness.
• Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of all funder reporting obligations and milestones, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submissions of reports. Accurately recording and tracking donor contributions, pledges, and grants received.
• Marketing and communication: Work closely with the marketing and communication team to raise awareness of fundraising activities through campaigns on social media and other marketing campaigns. 
• Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with programmes leads, finance team, marketing  and alumni team, to engage firm volunteers, alumni, students and SEO London staff to have a big splash as to our fundraising activity. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business administration, or a related field. 

Candidates without a degree will be considered if they have at least 2 years relevant and relatable work experience in a similar role. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for applicants who have at least 2 years demonstrable experience in some of the following areas and will be willing to learn and develop others: 

• Experience in fundraising, grant writing or related roles within the nonprofit sector. 
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate and persuasive writing and presentation skills. 
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software tools such as Salesforce. 
• Knowledge of fundraising best practices, processes, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. 
• Passion for the SEO London’s mission and commitment to advancing change in the communities we serve.

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. In 2023 we launched the National Education Nature Park - a Department for Education funded programme empowering young people to take action on the environment as part of new measures designed to put climate change and sustainability at the heart of education. As Senior Programme Officer you will build and access networks that support education settings to connect with nature through the programme, and build skills for engaging and influencing nature on their estate. The Senior Programme Officer will also manage a programme officer to enable a broad range of schools and education settings to participate in the programme. As a regional team you will work to establish widespread, meaningful and sustained engagement with the programme.

Reporting to the Nature Park Senior Programme and Partnerships Manager, you will map schools in the London region to identify priority areas, and connect with senior school leaders across the region to engage them with the programme. You will develop partnerships and networks at a regional level with local authorities, businesses, and organisations in the education and charity sectors to provide additional support for schools and help sustain them on their Nature Park journey. You will work with the central programme team and partnership to build support systems for schools and settings that address barriers to participation, which may involve training and tapping in to existing volunteer networks and running events.

We are looking for a collaborative, creative individual with a passion for plants and the environment; someone who is experienced at partnership development and with a proven track record in project management.  

You will work within a multidisciplinary project group including partners and colleagues with specialist scientific and community engagement knowledge and skills. Building and sustaining effective collaboration will be key to success in this role. You will be a confident communicator and listener with excellent planning and organisational skills. The National Education Nature Park engages children, young people and their educators with nature, supporting young people in England to play a driving role in mapping and monitoring biodiversity on their grounds using citizen science and, critically, taking action to enhance it.

From creating pollinator friendly habitats where biodiversity can thrive, to creating planting schemes that support climate resilience. The project will showcase what can be achieved on the Education estate.

You'll be someone who is able to provide a high level of professional support to the Chief Executive in the effective management of their calendar, correspondence, as well as committee support of the Board of Trustees and it's subcommittees. This role is also responsible for accreditations and managing ad-hoc projects.

Key Information

• Salary: Grade 2.1 - £27,500 raising to Grade 2.2 - £29,592 after 3 months successful probation (pro-rata if part-time)
• Contract: Fixed-term until 25 July 2025
• Hours: Full-time or Part-time (depending on the wishes of the successful applicant)
• Location: Lampeter with hybrid / home working
• Reporting to: Chief Executive

Key duties

1.  To provide high level professional administrative assistance to the Chief Executive, SMT, and Sabbatical Officers.
2.  To be responsible for keeping the records and supporting the regular business of the Trustee Board and Subcommittees.
3.  To project manage submissions for accreditations i.e. SOS UK Green Impact, Quality Students’ Unions, etc

Essential Criteria

• Ability to read and write fluently to an exemplary standard in English
• Ability to read and write at a basic conversational level in Welsh
• Good general education i.e. A-levels, including English and Welsh to at least to GSCE or equivalent
• Awareness of the 1994 Education Act (Part II)
• Previous experience of providing high level administrative support to senior staff as well as diary management
• Previous experience of servicing multiple committees
• Demonstratable expert knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Teams
• Ability to maintain extreme sensitivity and confidentiality
• Be committed to social inclusion, diversity, and equity

Desirable Criteria

• Knowledge of, and experience in delivering, the statutory requirements of Companies House and/or the Charity Commission
• Experience of supporting recruitment of external trustees
• Experience of editing web content through WYSIWYG
• Experience of submitting evidence for and projecting managing accreditations

I am working exclusively with a Regulator, and we are looking for a Senior Policy Officer to join the Standards team on a permanent basis. This role works across the organisation on numerous programmes that are integral to the work of the regulator. You will be supporting the two Policy managers to enforce minister policies from Central Government departments. The team within this regulator regularly promotes internally.

Your new role
The successful candidate will be:

• Manage policy initiatives from start to finish and provide support to the development of the standards to key internal and external stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively across the organisation to contribute to a programme of cross-org policy initiatives.
• Conduct desk-based research to support policy development, ensuring evidence-based policy decisions are being made.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including facilitating workshops, focus groups and policy forums.
• Work closely with colleagues from the devolved nations and NI.

What you'll need to succeed
This position is ideal for someone who has

• Experience of Policy work, at the Policy Assistant, Officer, Senior Officer, or Advisor level.
• Able to work collaboratively and independently to achieve multiple priorities.
• Experience of working with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Experienced at preparing high quality policy documents, reports, and briefings.
• Worked for a Charity, Non-Profit, Regulator or Government Body (highly desirable)
