This is a critical, high impact, supporter-facing role within our fundraising team helping to plan and deliver the Ovarian Cancer Action’s Events and Community programme. The role is responsible for growing and engaging a community of committed supporters with the goal of growing income, across our varied Events portfolio of third-party and DIY challenges, whilst also supporting the team Manager across our Community and Virtual challenge programmes.

Role:   Senior Events and Community Fundraising Officer

Scope Of The Role

You will manage and successfully deliver key events including the London Marathon, Great North Run and London Landmarks Half Marathon, as well as community-centred third party and DIY challenge fundraising. You’ll lead on supporter recruitment and stewardship to meet or exceed agreed targets, while keeping budgets, income and performance on track and maintain accurate supporter data. You’ll also support on the delivery of Community and Virtual challenge fundraising, including our flagship challenge Walk in Her Name. 

1)Support planning and delivery of the Events programme

i) Support recruitment, engagement and retention across our event portfolio including London Marathon, Great North Run, London Landmarks as well as third party and DIY challenges to meet or exceed agreed income and engagement targets, while keeping budgets, income and performance on track. 

ii) Responsible for the OCA London Marathon team from sign-up to post-race including delivery of training and fundraising support, on the day cheer point and post-race celebration activities.

iii) Attend events as required. 

iv) Support the team Manager to plan and deliver virtual challenges, including our flagship event, Walk in Her Name and Walk 100, working collaboratively across the team to maximise supporter experience and campaign performance. 

2) Manage delivery of Community Fundraising

i) Manage delivery of community fundraising and engagement

ii)     Support the team manager to explore and identify new opportunities for growth.

3) Provide excellent supporter care across the events and community portfolio

i) Deliver excellent supporter care across Events and Community fundraising, ensuring every supporter receives timely, helpful and inspiring communications throughout their fundraising journey

ii) Monitor event performance and supporter feedback, sharing and deploying insight to improve stewardship journeys, recruitment activity and future planning 

iii) Work closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Communications, Finance and Database teams to deliver integrated, supporter-led activity.

4) Provide excellent administrative support

i) Manage and track event budgets, income and expenditure, ensuring accurate forecasting, reporting and post-campaign evaluation.

ii) Maintain accurate supporter and financial records across Raiser’s Edge and fundraising platforms, including data coding, income coding and administrative processes to support excellent supporter care

iii) Ensure all events and fundraising activity is delivered in line with Ovarian Cancer Action’s processes, fundraising best practice, GDPR requirements and relevant legislation.

What Experience We Are Looking For

· Demonstrable experience of planning and delivering a successful events portfolio, challenge events and / or community fundraising activity.

· Understanding of recruiting supporters to events across organic and paid channels.

· Track record of providing excellent supporter care - motivating supporters to achieve agreed goals

·    Strong administrative skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and follow agreed processes.

· Familiar with using a CRM database - ideally Raiser’s Edge.

Additional details

Salary: Between £32,000 to £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Contract type: This is a fixed term contract of 12 months.

This is a 9-month part-time maternity cover contract, requiring 21 hours of work per week. The pro-rated salary for this role is £28,005 per annum. The postholder is expected to work from their offices in Victoria a minimum of 3 days every 2 weeks.

The postholder will coordinate the delivery of event plans across the fundraising products and London Marathon income stream on a pan-Charity basis, meeting strict deadlines and budget requirements to achieve efficiency and productivity from the income stream. You will be working in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Operations and the Assistant Director of Central Events and High Value Relationships.

Content Development & Insight Gathering

Senior Peer Support Workers and Peer Support Workers, who have direct lived experience of mental health issues, are working on in-patient wards in Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Wandsworth to provide recovery-focused peer support to people as they leave hospital and journey towards living independently in the community.

We are seeking a Senior Peer Support Worker to join the team in Lewisham, using personal lived experience of mental health difficulties to provide person-centred, recovery-focused peer support to people on hospital wards and as they are discharged to journey towards being settled in the community. This role will also line manage a Peer Support Worker, providing regular supervision and support, annual appraisals and development opportunities.

The Senior Peer Support Worker will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team within the Unit, assisting in-patients in developing essential skills and coping mechanisms, while promoting overall wellness through strength based and non-directive conversations. They will provide both practical and emotional support, facilitate access to community resources to help individuals maintain their independence while ensuring their wellbeing.

Additionally, this role includes supporting service users after discharge in the community for up to 12 weeks, aiding them in fostering independence within their local community, connecting with various agencies, enhancing life skills, providing guidance related to employment or educational opportunities and improving their ability to manage challenges effectively to prevent re-admission.

Interview process

Preliminary interviews with be held virtually, date to be confirmed. You will receive the interview questions 1 week ahead of the interview via email to enable you to prepare.

There will be a short writing assignment/test, to be completed alongside the first interview. This will be sent in advance.
