The Combined Cadet Force Association (CCFA) is a charity dedicated to the promotion of the ideals and activities of the Combined Cadet Force in schools. You will work closely with the Delivery Directorate who lead on grant management and reporting. With a fundraising-positive approach from the department, you will work collaboratively with them to identify funding opportunities and to deliver excellent stewardship.
As Head of Trusts and Foundations, you will:
- Lead on the planning and delivery of the trusts, foundations and statutory strategy to grow both restricted and unrestricted income
- Develop and oversee a portfolio and pipeline of high value trusts, foundations and statutory funders
- Write compelling funding proposals to engage new donors to give at the 6- and 7-figure level to ensure long term growth and sustainability
- Work collaboratively with the delivery teams to ensure effective grant management, stewardship and reporting for funders
- Work closely with the delivery teams to develop new projects and cases for support, and refine existing projects to meet the emerging needs of beneficiaries
- Develop engagement opportunities for prospective and warm funders to bring them closer to London Youth’s mission
- Provide management and direction for the team – including two Trusts and Foundations Managers

About the role

The Senior Programme Funding Officer role sits within the External Engagement Department and will be responsible for the majority of the team administration. A critical part of the role is also managing the Foundation’s CRM (Raisers’ Edge) system across the organisation.

IRC Education Programming UK
IRC has been delivering education programmes in the UK since May 2022. This consists of the Healing Classrooms Programme (and its various iterations) and the Healing Spaces programme. The Healing Classrooms programme delivers trauma-informed training to schools and teachers to help them better support refugee and asylum-seeking students. The Healing Spaces programme is similar but provides training to volunteers and staff that support refugee and asylum-seeking youth outside of school settings.
The Purpose of the Role

The position reports to the Education Manager, UK. The position supervises the Education Officer. The Senior Education Officer also works closely with and receives technical guidance from RAI education technical units and the senior integration officer, as well as the grant management team.
Key Accountabilities
Programme design and delivery

Lead Healing Classrooms design processes that ensure programmes are aligned to IRC’s Outcomes to Evidence framework, evidence-based, and appropriate to context to maximize impact.

Lead on the delivery of all Healing Classrooms programmes, including in-person and online.

The Senior Programme Officer for Schools2030 will lead on resource mobilisation for the Schools2030 programme as well as allocation of funding across the programme countries and workstreams. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND CORE TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Resource Mobilisation:
- Lead on resource mobilisation and the development of new proposals for the Schools2030 programme to develop narrative content for proposals and proposal budgets. This should all be done in close coordination with the Global Partnerships team, other members of the Global Secretariat, country teams, and finance teams.
- Lead on scoping new funding opportunities for Schools2030, working closely with the Global Partnerships team, and identify and evaluate strategic growth opportunities for the programme
Coordination:
- Manage the smooth functioning of the Schools2030 Partnerships and Finance teams including through leading weekly progress meetings, monitoring deliverables and setting team priorities on a weekly and monthly basis, in coordination with the broader Schools2030 Secretariat.
- Develop annual funding plans (including aligning donor grants to programme workstreams, identifying areas for fundraising) with Global Programme Manager, Finance, Partnerships and Country Units
- Coordinate external technical partnerships, including developing TORs for external technical partners and tracking achievement of deliverables.
- With finance and partnerships, oversee the Schools2030 grant and budget database to ensure alignment between grants, budgets and partner contracts
Donor Reporting
- Support the Schools2030 Partnership Officer on development of external reports and ensuring alignment with financial reports developed by Schools2030 Finance Officers
- Present Schools2030 programme and financial progress at Biannual Donor Meetings (March and October each year), with support of Partnership and Finance Team

As part of GCT’s Programmes team, you will work closely with the Senior Development Manager (SDM) to secure grant funding from trusts and foundations across our programme portfolio (including island restoration, community & nature, ocean protection and plastic pollution topics), with an increasing focus on securing multi-year funding to embed sustainability in our programme delivery. You will be a great writer, researcher and comfortable working with numbers, enabling you to identify new fundraising opportunities and develop engaging proposals and reports with clear budgets. An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need. Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others.
We have launched an ambitious new income generation strategy for 2023-2026 focused on 1) diversifying our income generation model and 2) increasing growth of voluntary income by 15% through restricted and unrestricted funding streams. This key role is essential to us realising this ambition with a focus on raising unrestricted income from a variety of income sources such as Trusts & Foundations, Fundraising Appeals, Challenge Events, Fundraising Events and Individual Giving.
About this exciting opportunity
Our successful candidate will develop and design high-quality applications, presentations, and pitches to secure multi-year unrestricted gifts from key supporters including Trusts, Foundations & Major Donors that support St Giles’ values & ethos. You will provide excellent stewardship to existing donors, including writing reports, arranging, planning and hosting visits for key stakeholders, and providing support to the Head of Voluntary Fundraising & Executive Director of Fundraising with reports, due diligence procedures and applications.
We will rely on you to work collaboratively to identify, plan and deliver local and national fundraising appeals, provide excellent stewardship to individual donors through the creation and implementation of quality donor journeys, and maintain promote, and diversify a small portfolio of challenge events our supporters can take part in. Providing line management, supervision and coaching to a Fundraising Assistant is also a key element of this role, as are contributing to refining processes and record-keeping to ensure that we are utilising database and systems to their maximum potential and contributing to the implementation of the income generation strategy.
What we are looking for
- Proven record of winning and/or managing a portfolio of grants, or relevant experience/transferable skills.
- Experience working with a CRM or fundraising database, preferably ETapestry.
- Experience of building supporter journeys for various audiences.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop innovative ideas to help us stand out to our existing and new donors.
- Advanced IT skills – Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint (essential) Canva.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to write compelling and informative copy for reports, applications and external communications.
