Doorstep Library is a community-focused literacy charity dedicated to bringing the magic of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children who need our support. We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to head up our fundraising and marketing teams.
With one in four 11-year-olds leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, we recruit and train home and online reading volunteers to go into disadvantaged areas of London to help introduce young children (aged 0-11 years) to the pleasure and benefits of reading.
Our unique home-based service, whether in person or online, enables us to find the most appropriate books for every child we visit and build a relationship with the whole family. Our goal is to help children develop the self-confidence and essential skills they need to access all the opportunities that will come their way in life.

JOB SUMMARY
Job Title: Head of Fundraising

JOB PURPOSE
· Strategic responsibility for fundraising, including partnership development and maintaining the charity’s strong relationships with our wide range of funding partners;
· Strategic responsibility for marketing, to increase the charity’s profile and increase engagement;
· To work closely with the SMT and actively contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the charity;
· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;
· To manage the charity’s fundraising operations including coordinating prospect research and prioritisation, managing workflows, and ensuring effective stewardship of donors, corporate supporters and trust and foundations grants;
· To oversee the charity’s marketing operations, including digital and printed content creation.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to report to the Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will sit on the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO, Head of Operations and Head of Delivery and Engagement.
You will have substantial, proven experience of working in fundraising and of developing and sustaining partnerships, ideally in the third sector, and of how to build financial sustainability. You will be a highly organised people-person and will be responsible for line managing two Fundraising and Marketing Officers.
You will bring excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire others about our work. With outstanding interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to forge new relationships and you will thrive on enhancing our current partnerships and identifying and creating new ones.
Finally, you will be truly passionate about the work that we do to support children and families in disadvantaged areas of London and be driven to share our work with as many people as possible.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Development and delivery of the charity’s fundraising strategy
· To work closely with the CEO and trustee board to lead on the development, planning and delivery the Doorstep Library’s fundraising strategy, with further development of a longer-term strategy;
· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;
· To take a lead on application bids, including managing, monitoring and evaluating all funding applications;
· To work closely with the SMT and actively contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the charity;
Grow, develop and sustain our partnerships and income streams
· To lead, deliver and grow our existing relationships with all of our funding partners; foundations, corporates, independent schools and individual donors to raise circa £850K pa;
· To identify new potential partners, working closely with the CEO and board of trustees to develop these partnerships;
· To establish a corporate supporters programme and individual giving campaigns, plus develop effective stewardship systems;
· To have responsibility for retaining and engaging the charity’s supporters, this includes providing formal reports and updates on the work of the charity;
· Working with the Fundraising and Marketing Officers to effectively communicate the impact of our work to internal and external stakeholders;
Communications
· Work with the Marketing Officer to implement improvements to our digital presence, including website optimization, social media strategy, and online advertising campaigns;
· Research and analyse sector news/ developments;
· Oversee the creation of the annual report and impact report;
· Create and maintain a stock of case studies/ success stories and photos;
· Monitor and report on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns;
Line Management
· To have direct line management responsibility for the Fundraising and Marketing Officers;

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria
1. A proven track record of delivery results in fundraising and/or partnership management
2. Knowledge of successful fundraising from a variety of sources, including at least two of corporates, major donors, individual giving, local authorities and trusts & foundations
3. Proven experience in securing five figure gifts, managing the donor cycle from initial stages through to stewardship
4. The ability to maintain current income streams and identify opportunities for growth
5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and in an engaging manner in person and in writing to a variety of audiences
6. Strong relationship building skills – experience of working with a wide range of people, from large corporate teams to potential individual donors
7. Highly organised – ability to manage a number of projects and tasks at the same time
8. Ability to generate and implement new ideas and see them through to completion
9. A positive team player, working with, supporting and encouraging colleagues

Key Responsibilities
Philanthropy Events
- Work closely with team members to organise and manage the logistics for our major and mid-level donor event programme, comprising around 4-5 events a year, including the Rooftop Summer Drinks Party and November Private Dinner.
- Event management will include liaising with venue managers and suppliers both in the run up and during the event
- Work with the Philanthropy Executive to project manage on cross-income stream events, including sponsored challenge events such as the Impetus Triathlon, and Christmas Celebration Drinks.
Events Communication
- Support the Philanthropy team in putting together relevant event-related comms to all donors as required
- Manage systems and processes for fundraising events and actively look to improve and develop these alongside the Philanthropy Executive
- Manage the event side of the Salesforce database including guest list campaigns, pulling reports, creating mailing lists etc. Update the database with donor interactions, and other details in a timely and efficient manner.
Research
- Research and identify trends and news from the Events sector including new relevant venues, styles and fundraising event formats.
- Support the Philanthropy Executive in identifying trends and news from the wider fundraising sector.
Wider Philanthropy Support
- With the Philanthropy Executive, project manage relevant fundraising projects such as the June match funding appeal, and community fundraising projects including from schools and churches
- Provide ad hoc support to the Philanthropy team as required e.g. support with applications and reports, and hosting volunteers at Spear sessions.

Senior Registered Nurse Development role – Community and In-Patient Unit rotation
20 Month Fixed Term Contract
37.5 hours per week (shift pattern over 7 days including night shifts on the IPU and weekends on an internal rotation basis)

Phyllis Tuckwell is looking to appoint a Registered Nurse with experience in palliative and end of life care who wishes to further develop these skills. The role is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to be supported by the skilled and expert nursing and clinical teams within Phyllis Tuckwell. This fixed term post will consist of an initial 1-month induction on the IPU, followed by a further 2 placements of 9 months each on our In-Patient Unit and with our Hospice Care at Home team. The final month will be an opportunity to consolidate your learning.
The role involves holistic assessment and identification of patient needs, decision making and care planning alongside other MDT colleagues and community partners. It involves strong assessment skills, implementation of a management plan and evaluation to ensure that responsive high-quality, nursing care and support is available for patients, their families, and carers.
The role requires a range of skills and knowledge in palliative care nursing including symptom management, psychological skills, medication administration and management, organisational, leadership and people management skills. Patient, family and carer education, including for patients and professionals within care homes, is also an element of the role.
The successful candidate will have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification in palliative care, will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Their role will have clinical leadership and practice development responsibilities, and the successful applicant will work towards taking an active role in workload management and high-quality care, including patient safety and service improvement.

We are seeking an Animal Training & Behaviour Manager to join our friendly head office team based in Watford, striving to give every animal the best chance of finding a new home.
You will be working for a charity that never stops caring for its animals and people. As a rescue and rehoming charity, operating five rehoming centres and three shops across the south of England, we are committed to improving the lives of the UK’s pets, helping around 1,500 animals each year.
About the role:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, in this new role you will support and mentor the centre teams in assessing cats and dogs, providing positive reinforcement training and behaviour support to animals in NAWT care. Liaising with centre management teams you will develop behavioural modification plans and identify the development requirements for centre employees and volunteers to contribute to their development plans. You will collaborate with new owners to provide post homing support for any complex behaviour challenges displayed by newly homed pets.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Conduct timely and objective behaviour assessments of dogs and cats whose behaviour concerns have been escalated to the Training and Behaviour Manager;
- Regular travel to the five NAWT homing centres to conduct training sessions with teams, animal assessments and provide other areas of support required;
- Ensure all behaviour plans applied at centres are evidence based and have a positive effect on the pet’s welfare;
- Ensure up to date knowledge in animal behaviour is adopted by the centre teams and used to create training and development plans;
- Support centre teams with completing regular audits on assessment quality, length of stay and the advertising of pets in NAWT care;
- Plan and deliver agreed training on cats and dogs behaviour/training knowledge and welfare matters to NAWT employees and volunteers to ensure centre teams continually improve their knowledge to effectively work with and rehome pets in NAWT care;
- Support centre teams to ensure all animals are assessed, advertised, matched, and rehomed in a responsible and timely manner;
- Work with the centre management team to fully implement and monitor Home Direct and Short-Term Fostering homing initiatives;
- Provide specific reports as and when required on all animals on behaviour modification programmes;
- Develop and implement new ways of working to improve all aspects of assessment, training and matching within the homing journey for all animals in NAWT care.
Hours: 35 hours per week (some weekend work involved)

About you:
The ideal candidate will be conscientious, reliable, good humoured and confident, with a solid background in developing, coaching and line managing teams. You will have an aptitude for dealing with people, natural leadership skills and believe in the importance of good customer service. You will have experience of working in a sometimes emotionally challenging environment and have the natural ability to defuse such situations, creating a calm working atmosphere.
Essential skills and experience include:
- A thorough, in depth knowledge of dog and cat behaviour, training and welfare. An animal behaviour or welfare qualification or similar relevant academic study is essential.
- A strong track record of mentoring and motivating individuals including giving constructive feedback on performance.
- Practical experience in assessing cats and dogs.
- Developing and coaching others in behaviour modification and training programmes for cats and dogs with a variety of behavioural challenges within a rescue environment.
- Excellent communication skills and be able to clearly advise on and monitor the management of behaviour challenges.
- A flexible approach to cope with a varied and demanding workload and work as part of a team.
- Good overall IT skills, including Microsoft Office and excel.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car.

The Role
We are currently looking for a Shop Manager who will run our brand-new shop in Thirsk.
Initially, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in setting up our new shop, recruiting volunteers, and making plans to ensure the shop is ready to open. You will then ensure the smooth running of the shop long-term.

Working as a key link between the Philanthropy team and wider organisational teams, the Philanthropy Content Reporting Manager – Trusts will create specific reporting materials for our key funders. You will hold responsibility for a reporting schedule for named partners and work closely with our impact and finance teams to track progress of funded projects and ensure that we deliver partner/funder updates in line with agreements.

We are looking for an individual to join the Grants Team on an interim basis for paternity cover to help support the development and delivery of the Rothschild Foundation’s grants programmes. As a Grants Manager you will help us to identify, assess and manage grants across our funding programmes.
We manage two open access application programmes in Buckinghamshire and a wider UK programme of grant-making where we pro-actively identify organisations to work with in our areas of interest. These include culture and regenerative food systems, connecting with activity at Waddesdon Manor and Estate, the home of the Foundation. The Grants Manager role will have a particular focus on our regenerative food and farming programme, where we are funding direct delivery organisations, as well as convening stakeholders and other funders championing a sustainable approach.

- Actively participate as required in the training of staff and others working as part of the charity’s ethos as a development organisation.

Technology
- Ensure all staff are fully IT literate and have the necessary skills and technology to fulfill their roles effectively.
- Work with the SMT to ensure all data is protected and systems are conversant with current Information Governance legislation.
