About this role
As a Communications Manager your responsibilities would include: -
- Lead, inspire and manage the Communications team to raise the profile of Carers First with multiple audiences and awareness of the issues affecting carers
- Develop our digital offer across England to expand our reach and engagement with carers online, helping them to access timely and relevant information.
- Support the wider Carers First team with the promotion and delivery of projects and events to strengthen our offer and services for carers.
- Work with the Director of Income and Engagement, and the wider fundraising team, to support campaigns, events and marketing approaches that increase Carers First’s voluntary income and wider donor engagement
- Effectively develop and manage a range of stakeholder relationships to deliver the Communications Plan.
About you
To be successful in this role you will need:
Leadership and management
- At least 3 years of experience in a senior communications position, ideally within the charity or public sectors
- Proven ability to manage both strategy and delivery programmes, balancing long-term objectives with operational priorities
- Superb manager with the proven ability to inspire, motivate, support and lead staff to thrive and create a high performing team and measurable results.
Communications and stakeholder engagement
- Proven experience of developing and delivering marketing and/or communications plans
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled copywriter able to communicate messages in a clear and engaging way
IT and digital experience
- Experience using Canva or similar accessible content creation tools, with an eye for strong visual design and brand consistency
- Ability to simplify systems and processes, particularly spreadsheet-based workflows
- Experience using CRM systems, analytics tools, email marketing software, and social media platforms
Fundraising and project management
- Previous experience working in support of fundraising campaigns, or relevant marketing approaches
- Project management experience: leading others to oversee and manage projects, events or campaigns.

We’re looking for an experienced and results-driven stewardship manager with excellent project management skills to oversee the delivery and development of our multi-channel stewardship campaign, registration platform and website for the 2026 series.

About the role
This role is responsible for leading our Programme Manager and Officer to plan, build and optimise our multi-channel stewardship journey – covering email, outbound calling, SMS and direct mail. A typical week in this role might involve:
- Overseeing the delivery of project plan tasks across different stakeholders, to make sure everyone is meeting set KPIs and working to deadline
- Managing our relationship with our registration platform provider, using data and insight to identify improvement
- Working with creative agencies to brief and produce assets, using audience insights, that will inspire people to fundraise for their Mighty Hike
- Managing expenditure budgets to ensure spend is tracking accurately against different suppliers
- Using JustGiving data to report on fundraising performance and identify opportunities to drive growth and test new activations
- Leading on meetings with internal and external stakeholders to present the Mighty Hikes and inspire high levels of engagement and support
This role does require weekend work (although not at your desk) as you’ll be out and about cheering on our participants. A full UK driver’s license is preferred and a willingness to drive a van is a bonus. You will be compensated for your weekend work with days in lieu.

About you
We are looking for an experienced stewardship manager with a passion for project management, strong account management skills and understanding of digital optimisation.
- Stewardship skills: experience delivering multi-channel stewardship campaigns with personalisation based on customer segments
- Digital skills: experience with website management and a strong understanding of digital optimisation and SEO
- Financial skills: proven track-record of hitting financial targets and managing expenditure budgets

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic (Senior) Research Officer. This exciting role involves undertaking research on gambling related financial harms and engaging with stakeholders in financial services firms to practically apply our research to their work. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent critical thinking, research and policy development skills, with the ability to digest complex information quickly and appraise firms work against regulatory requirements, best practice examples and policy recommendations.
The successful candidate will primarily work as part of the Gambling Harms Action Lab team where we’re bringing together seven representatives from financial services firms to explore ways to reduce gambling related financial harms. The (Senior) Research Officer will be an integral part of the team working to tackle gambling related financial harms through delivering timely and insightful research and consultancy support.
We are looking for an exceptional team member who is driven to create meaningful change and is passionate about tackling gambling related financial harms. Key tasks in the role will include:

Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of key developments in gambling and financial services sectors, including regulatory guidance and best practice.

Developing and strengthening relationships within financial services firms by delivering support to practically apply existing and new research to financial services work with customers with experience of mental health problems and or gambling harms.

Collaborating, brainstorming and analysing to identify potential policy solutions to address gambling related financial harms.

Collating insights from our Research Community of people with lived experience of mental health problems, and sharing these learnings through insight reports and briefings with financial services and other stakeholders.

Supporting the Head of the Gambling Harms Action Lab with monitoring and measuring the impact of our work, engaging with key stakeholders, and suggesting innovative new ways to increase our impact.

The Senior Philanthropy and Partnership Manager is a new role, bringing the staff team to eight. We are looking for someone experienced, ambitious and creative to be our first Senior Philanthropy and Partnership Manager, to drive our fundraising strategy, create new opportunities and relationships, lead the cultivation and stewardship of new trust funders, and develop a new major donor fundraising programme.
In this role you will have strategic accountability for fundraising and overseeing progress towards fundraising targets, working with the team and the Board to generate ideas and deliver proposals for raising funds, and for highlighting our impact to potential donors.
