About Us
Allia Impact Ltd, part of the Allia charitable group, is seeking an experienced fundraiser and relationship builder to help us with the next stage of growth of our impact venture support ecosystem of business centres and programmes. This role may also be known within the company as Head of Funding.
Allia Impact runs a range of Venture Support programmes to help entrepreneurs build an idea into a business; start-ups to scale & grow and small businesses to establish and thrive – with impacts focussed on job creation, underserved communities and addressing social and environmental challenges. It also leverages innovation, entrepreneurship, and tech for good to address key issues in society (such as Net Zero, homelessness and AgeTech) through a suite of programmes, initiatives, and collaborations.
Allia Future Business Centres provide space, community and a thriving ecosystem where start-ups and ventures are supported to achieve positive environmental and social impact.
As part of our growth strategy, we have identified the need for a Head of Funding (Fundraising) to support the expansion of Allia Impact’s ventures support work and to expand the geographical footprint of the Future Business Centres. The key priorities are:
- Identifying and securing funding sources to maintain and grow our range of venture support programmes which currently operate in London, Cambridge and Peterborough. Aiming to expand to new prospective locations in London and Eastern England.
- Helping to secure the resources to expand our network of Future Business Centres also in London and the East. From small hyper-local hubs that focus on community support and transformation, to larger centres that act as innovation communities for impact businesses and start-ups, we are ambitious to grow our reach.
Typical funders have included EU (ERDF), local authorities, corporates, charitable trusts and individual philanthropists, and will be similar going forward except for the transition from EU to UK-based government funds. In the tech for good and innovation challenge space, collaborations with family offices, venture capital, and corporations are potential funding routes as well.
Our programmes and centres are of interest to all these types of funders and we have good track record and relationships to build on. It is a positive opportunity for growth and scaling the impact we can achieve to more locations, working as part of a team with committed colleagues.
Our people are pivotal to our success, and we have grown expediently. We are an equal opportunities employer which embraces diversity, inclusion and flexible working. We offer a great working environment, true team working ethos, good benefits and much more.

We are working to increase diversity and would particularly welcome applications from groups that are currently under-represented, including those from a BAME background.
To apply for this role, please send an up-to-date CV. We may ask you to provide a supporting covering letter highlighting your skills and experience along with why we should consider you for the role and your salary expectations.

When MAMA Academy first launched, the number of stillbirths began a significant decline for the first time in 20 years, which has continued year on year. Currently, over 1,000 stillbirths are being prevented every year.
We remain committed to seeing a continuous decline in stillbirth and neonatal death rates.
As our Fundraising Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing MAMA Academy’s whole fundraising strategy and will develop income streams across all fundraising areas. You will recruit, develop and manage a network of supporters who fundraise on behalf of MAMA Academy to deliver agreed overall income and other targets, including but not limited to: challenge events, ‘in aid of’ fundraising and public collections.
You will be a confident self-starter with experience in fundraising, who has excellent communication, writing and relationship building skills.

FareShare
Job Description –Senior Trusts and Grants Manager
Reporting to: Head of Fundraising
Location: Hybrid / Office Based
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 Hours
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
About FareShare
FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to almost 10,000 frontline charities and community groups. During 2021, we redistributed 127 million meals, the equivalent of 4 meals every second through our FareShare Regional Centres and our retail surplus model FareShare Go, reaching over 1 million people.
FareShare exists because of two hugely important and highly topical issues.
As a consequence of supply and demand, huge volumes of food are grown or made in the UK and a percentage ends up as unwanted surplus with little commercial value.
At the same time, there are many thousands of frontline community groups and charities that are providing a vital safety net for the most vulnerable in our society. We seek to squeeze as much social good out of that uneconomic surplus by getting it to almost 10,000 such groups across the UK whilst they provide essential wraparound support services for their beneficiaries.
The Cost of Living Crisis and before it, the COVID-19 have shone a spotlight on the issue of food insecurity in the UK and with it, FareShare’s ability to get food to vulnerable communities nationwide.
It is estimated that over 4.7m UK households are now experiencing food insecurity and whilst the equivalent of 1.3bn meals of good surplus food occurs each year, FareShare believes that it is wrong for these two situations to co-exist.
To combat this, FareShare is moving into an ambitious 4 year programme to achieve
unparalleled growth in both our food volumes as well as our
fundraised income. We are driven by the opportunity to secure even more of the food available at farm gate, manufacturing and retail levels and to do this, we
need to maximise our new groundswell of public support to generate the funds needed to operate at this greater scale. There has never been a more
exciting time to join a relevant organisation which delivers both social and environmental impact, at such a crucial time.
By joining us you would be leading some of our most important work in helping us generate more support from Donors, Corporate Food and Fundraising Partners, Foundations and Volunteers as we strive in our ambition to meet the demand for food
to support the UK’s most vulnerable.
FareShare’s Strategy & Vision
Vision: We have the vision of a UK where “No good food goes to waste”.
Mission: To use surplus, fit for consumption, food to feed those who are vulnerable in the UK by supporting front line charitable organisations that tackle the cause and not just the symptoms of food poverty.
Our Purpose: We are doers. We are a community. We change lives.
Our Values: Passion – for our cause and the challenge that lies ahead
Ambition – to go the extra mile and drive the change that must happen
Respect – for ourselves, each other, our volunteers, our partners and our beneficiaries
Collaboration – it’s only by working with others that we can be stronger
Focus – on providing the best service possible so that we deliver and
achieve the most for our clients/customers.

About Norwood
Norwood is the largest Jewish charity in the UK supporting vulnerable children and their families, children with special educational needs and people with learning disabilities and autism. We were founded in 1795.
The projects you’ll most likely be fundraising for are:
Adult residential care for people with learning disabilities – we have 17 homes around London, as well as a residential village, Ravenswood in Berkshire, where we have another 19. Because the basics are funded by the local authority, we mostly fundraise for capital development for these, ranging from a new, accessible bathroom, to a whole new building.
Children and family services for children with learning disabilities: support groups for parents of children with special needs, speech therapy, occupational therapy, educational psychology, specialist teaching. Short-breaks, including overnight, Sunday clubs and holiday camps for children with learning challenges and disabilities. Social work, and family support teams.
What you will do as the Trust Fundraising Officer at Norwood
Trusts research – working alongside the Prospect Research Volunteer to identify opportunities. We have been around a long time, so a lot of this is working through the trusts on our database, as well as regular projects for example to look at the funders of similar charities, work through an online trusts database, and keep up to date with email alerts.
Trust applications – you will gather project information, curate it, and write it up into informative, engaging, beautiful applications, giving trusts the opportunity to fund our work. Your work will focus on bids of up to £5,000.
Trust relationships – you will build relationships through face-to-face meetings, service visits, calls, emails, letters, thanking etc. We’re a much-loved community organisation, and you’ll be the face of it for the trusts that you manage.
Reporting – you’ll gather the information, photos and stories to compile reports that give funders real insight into what they’ve achieved.
Organisational knowledge – develop and maintain your knowledge of Norwood services and build relationships with service managers, the ‘boots on the ground’, who you’ll need to give you up-to-date information.
Support the rest of the team – to gain experience, you’ll support other members of the team in their work, whether that’s gathering information for an application, proof-reading a report, or helping with a service visit. In particular, you’ll support on bids over £5,000 to prepare you for either promotion or your next role.
Building and maintaining team processes – we all help with this, whether it’s improving our Raiser’s Edge dashboard, taking minutes at the team meeting, or creating a new template to help project staff with case study gathering. This project work adds variety, and we’re always open to new ideas.
