Key Responsibilities

 Supporter Services

•  Lead the development and delivery of the new supporter services function considering people (capability, capacity and culture), processes, tools and technologies needed to deliver outstanding customer service so new and existing supporters feel valued and connected to the ESU’s mission.
• Design and implement supporter recruitment, development and retention plans including welcome journeys and approaches for reactivating dormant supporters.
• Work closely with the Marketing team to create segmented messaging to highlight the impact and value of the ESU’s work to Alumni, Members and Volunteers in the UK.
• Oversee payment processes and supporter payment journeys on our CRM, Salesforce.
• Work with the Marketing team to design ad hoc impactful events in person and online to convene our global audience.
• Work with the Marketing team to promote our flagship events to our supporter audience to encourage attendance. 

Volunteering

• Design and implement a volunteering strategy which includes automating the volunteer experience, recruiting new volunteers and promoting ESU volunteering opportunities to relevant organisations as well as current and future supporters
• Own the volunteer training programme, including reviewing and refreshing training and ensuring all volunteers are appropriately trained.
• Match volunteers to ESU competition heats and resolve queries escalated by the Supporter Engagement Coordinator.
• Form partnerships with relevant organisations to grow the ESU’s pool of volunteers.
• Work with the Education team to create a high quality volunteer experience

Skills and Experience

Essential:

• 5+ years experience working in a partnerships, supporter services, volunteering or account management role
• Demonstrable experience of having delivered successful services to a range of supporters/customers.
• Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering meaningful supporter journeys across multiple channels
• Demonstrable experience of growing and sustaining a pool of high quality volunteers through successful recruitment and development strategies
• Demonstrable experience of using a CRM (preferably Salesforce) to identify trends and drive improvements.

Desirable:

• Educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as marketing or communications
• An understanding of the nature and importance of the ESU’s charitable work and a strong commitment to increasing the reach of the organisation’s work.
• Experience of writing volunteer training programmes
• Experience working with international volunteers
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment

The newly created Advice & Support Team plays a key role in delivering Battersea’s increased strategic focus on early intervention in the pet ownership journey. By offering well-timed expert and empathetic support and advice before owners reach crisis point, the team aims to prevent avoidable animal welfare issues and reduce the number of pets relinquished for preventable reasons.

A key service in this area is the Behaviour Advice Line (BAL), currently delivered by our Animal Behaviour Team. This new role exists to lead the development of a clear, evidence-based service model and plan to transform the line into a cost-effective multi-channel service that delivers measurably improved impact for owners and their pets.

The role is for one year with the outcome to develop a detailed service model and associated change plan and budget, that is evidence based, co-designed and in alignment with the future Advice and Support strategy and Operations structure. Iterative changes should be identified for service improvement within the year and a business case for investment produced by the end of July 2026.

The postholder will lead and coordinate our new Post-Discharge Support service, working closely with families, the NHS Family Liaison Team, and counsellors. They will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of service delivery projects - focusing on the experiences and impact on both NHS staff and families - while ensuring efficiency and value for money through careful cost assessment.

NHS Engagement & Relationship Management

▪ Build strong partnerships with PICU and NICU teams to embed Cosmic’s presence, raise awareness, and identify areas for support.

▪ Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and deliver projects that improve patient, family and staff experiences - maintaining an up-to-date pipeline of funding needs.

▪ Liaise directly with families on the units to understand their needs and explore how Cosmic can offer practical and emotional support, helping to build trusted relationships and inform future service development.

▪ Organise engagement activities and events to promote Cosmic across the units, ensuring consistent branding and visibility.

▪ Represent Cosmic at senior staff hospital meetings, forums and working groups, sharing feedback and opportunities with the wider team.

Engagement Campaigns

▪ Create, promote and mobilise staff on our units to deliver a yearly schedule of engagement campaigns. Work with staff to develop new and existing campaigns; creating and implementing the plans as appropriate.

Post Discharge Support Project

▪ Manage development and delivery of Cosmic’s new pioneering family support service after intensive care.

▪ Develop, in partnership with the units, service delivery models that include services provided, and their impact.

▪ Develop project budgets with the COO, monitoring and evaluating them to ensure projects are delivered on budget.

▪ Oversee ongoing evaluation and development of the service to ensure it meets targets and desired outcomes.

▪ Work with our supporters and past patients and families in the development of projects and services.

▪ Work closely with the Family Liaison Nurse, who will interact directly with families benefiting from the service, to ensure their needs and experiences inform the ongoing development of the project.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

▪ Develop and implement data metrics and gathering points to measure and analyse the impact of Cosmic’s services, supporting outcomes reporting and strategic decision-making.

▪ Utilise strong IT skills for database modelling and data interpretation, ensuring timely data capture in collaboration with clinical staff to enhance service delivery and promote awareness.

▪ Monitor and report on the impact of Cosmic’s work to support funding efforts and improve overall effectiveness.

This varied role involves management of L&W’s digital communications, press and media work, stakeholder relations and events throughout the year. About you

As the Service Manager for our night shelter service, you’ll be at the heart of Glass Door’s mission, delivering the largest network of night shelters in the UK.  This pivotal role offers you the chance to make a real difference by managing a dedicated team across multiple sites, ensuring high-quality, consistent service that supports our guests to build a route out of homelessness.  We’re looking for a dynamic, proactive leader with a passion for problem-solving and a compassionate service delivery.

What you will do as part of our team

The Service Manager is responsible for the following:

Service delivery 

· Lead all aspects of the planning, preparation, and delivery of the night shelter service. 

· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service, directly engaging with staff and guests to ensure high-quality service delivery. 

· Ensure operational policies are consistently followed, providing guests with a reliable and uniform service experience. 

· Manage the rota across three night shelters to maintain adequate staffing at all times. 

· Manage a fleet of three vehicles used for the night shelters, ensuring their availability and maintenance. 

· Ensure all staff are fully aware of service provisions, requirements, and expectations. 

· Lead the continuous improvement of the shelter service to better meet guest needs. 

· Ensure due diligence is performed, and that reporting and records are accurately maintained. 

· Collaborate with the Head of Operations & Service Development to keep expenditures and income within agreed budget limits. 

· Liaise with casework colleagues to ensure seamless collaboration between night shelter and casework staff.
