The Finance Manager is a key member of the wider Finance and Operations team and will lead the finance function of the charity and provide excellent finance support for the Senior Executive.

We are looking for an individual who can:

• Maintain a robust financial control framework and provide high quality timely financial management information to ensure effective decision making.
• Prepare annual financial statements and support an efficient external audit process.
• Lead on the annual budget setting and quarterly forecasting processes.
• Deliver continuous finance process improvement and finance training for SGHC staff.
• Support the maintenance of dynamic and strategically aligned partnerships with finance colleagues across all our key stakeholder groups.

ROLE PURPOSE

To manage the finance function of the charity and provide excellent finance support for the Senior Executive which will include:

• Maintaining a robust financial control framework and providing high quality timely financial management information to ensure effective decision making.
• Preparing annual financial statements and supporting an efficient external audit process.
• Supporting the annual budget setting and quarterly forecasting processes.
• Leading on continuous finance process improvement and finance training for SGHC staff.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Staff management

1.1. Carry out all line management duties in line with organisational policy and procedure, including:

• Diversity and inclusion - encouraging an inclusive environment.
• Recruiting and inducting good quality staff o Proactively addressing performance, conduct or other employee relations issues.
• Support and coach your direct report to ensure objectives and development goals are achieved.

2. Management of Income and Payments Processing Operations

2.1. Responsible for ensuring that all fundraising and investment income is accurately recorded in the finance system.

2.2. Ensure the reconciliation of all income data from the bank against Raiser’s Edge (CRM system) to ensure data is accurate and complete and then recorded in the finance system once reconciled.

2.3. Manage an efficient and effective Accounts Payable function, ensuring that the work performed by the Senior Finance Assistant is at the required standard.

2.4. Lead on all communications with internal stakeholders, including Trust finance and Special Purpose Fund Advisers, to resolve any issues arising and produce monitoring reports on a regular basis.

3. Transactional accounting and fund management

3.1. Ensure systems are in place to identify and correctly record restricted donations, so that these are properly monitored and utilised.

4. Financial Control Framework

4.1. In consultation with the Director of Finance & Operations, ensure that appropriate controls, processes and procedures are in place, regularly reviewed and assessed for operational effectiveness.

4.2. Review and update Finance Procedures and effectively communicate these to staff, arranging training where necessary, within the Finance Department and across the Charity.

4.3. Ensure effective maintenance of the balance sheet, including regular key control account reconciliations (bank and other).

4.4. Monitoring of balances with the Trust, ensuring these are promptly settled, with discrepancies investigated and resolved.

5. Management Reporting

5.1. Delivery of timely and accurate monthly management accounts for the Charity, including enhancing the production process and communication of timetables.

5.2. Co-ordinate the production of narrative reports to support review by the Director of Finance & Operations.

6. Financial reporting and audit

6.1. Lead the Finance team in the production of financial statements which are fully compliant with the Charity SORP to meet required audit and Board approval deadlines.

6.2. Lead the relationship with external auditors and all arrangements surrounding the annual audit fieldwork.

6.3. Preparing required audit documentation in accordance with agreed timetables. 

7. Budgeting and Forecasting

7.1. Assist the Director of Finance & Operations in the production of annual budgets, working closely with budget holders within the Charity to ensure completed in accordance with agreed timescales.

7.2. Lead on the quarterly re-forecast process, producing relevant analyses to understand and monitor key changes.

8. Banking and Investments

8.1. Work alongside the Director of Finance & Operations to maintain a strong relationship with the Charity’s banking and investment managers and take the lead on the day to day administration of the banking arrangements.

8.2. Ensure that bank mandates are up to date.

9. Systems and Data

9.1. Finance system

• Liaise with Application’s Supplier and Trust Systems support team in the maintenance and development of the finance system, ensuring essential maintenance are carried out as necessary to prevent cyber fraud and maintain data integrity.
• Provide support to the Finance team for the accounting functionality within the finance accounting application and its integrated systems.

9.2. System maintenance and training

• Support the Director of Finance and Operations with managing user access, permissions and privileges on the finance system, ensuring that any changes to staff are reflected immediately.
• Ensure all new staff are trained on the Finance System and that current staff receive updates as necessary.

Any other duties commensurate with the post as requested by the Director of Finance & Operations.

As Finance Manager, you’ll play a central role in ensuring the integrity of our financial processes and systems, leading on fund and tax management, including relevant reporting and compliance.

You should also be able to demonstrate an ability to manage time effectively, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience of different accounting software preferably with Sun Systems and Proactis.

Championing supporter care across The Charity, you will lead on guaranteeing a high quality experience for our donors and supporters through their journey with us. Everything the team does is about ensuring CX excellence, from handling first communications and processing income, through to ensuring that an appropriate ‘thank you’ is received.

Responsible for a small team of both Central Operations and Supporter Care experts you’ll ensure that our community are placed at the centre of all we do. Working with Fundraising, Finance and Marketing you’ll ensure the smooth running of our campaigns and income reconciliation, implementing the workflows to get the right data into the CRM, acting as the central point between them and our technical teams (Website, Journeys, Finance and IT).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• With the support of the Head of CX, provide an exemplary core Supporter Care and Central Operations function, meeting agreed SLAs to maximise supporter engagement, stewardship and accurate income processing
• Oversee accurate daily and monthly bank reconciliation, working closely with the Finance and Fundraising teams
• Support initiatives to maximise engagement by calling supporters e.g. to welcome them to The Charity and to talk to them about Gift Aid
• Work with the Head of the CX team to create monthly reports to evidence progress and adherence to the team SLAs
• Manage complaints and assist other teams in responding to complaints, ensuring robust recording in the CRM
• Lead on new supporter care projects and activities
• Regularly review fundraising and complaint policies, updating documentation and processes as needed e.g. vulnerable persons policy
• Provide supporter care ‘consultancy’ for other teams and promote supporter care excellence
• Keep up to date on current fundraising regulations and legislation; share knowledge and best practice with the wider team
• Lead on planning, implementing and documenting team processes, striving to automate and improve wherever possible
• Facilitate and provide training to members of the team as required
• Support regular reviews of Gift Aid and ensure Gift Aid claims and income are maximised, working closely with the Finance team
• Identify volunteer opportunities and manage team volunteers, acting as a Volunteer Champion for the team

Development Group generates philanthropic and sponsorship income to help us create a Natural History Museum for the future – investing in capital development, attaining vital acquisitions for the collection, transforming our galleries, developing innovative exhibitions and undertaking ground-breaking scientific research on issues that affect us all.

The Museum is looking for an ambitious and self-motivated individual for the role of Philanthropy Manager. The role will be focused on raising funds from high-net-worth individuals capable of giving six-figure gifts and key in achieving our strategic priorities. It will involve working both independently and closely with senior stakeholders in order to cultivate and maintain relationships with new and existing funders, securing income towards a diverse range of core and capital projects.

Working alongside an approachable and highly successful Philanthropy team and reporting into the Senior Philanthropy Manager (HNWI), the role will cultivate and build relationships with a portfolio of potential and existing funders, engaging with them through correspondence, meetings, events and creating compelling proposals to secure funding. The person will be able to work proactively and constructively with colleagues to develop high-quality project proposals and act as an ambassador for the Natural History Museum amongst a range of high-profile external contacts. Personal Specification: 

Essential skills, knowledge and qualities:

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to positively communicate with a wide range of people in a professional setting, with demonstrable ability to communicate effectively in challenging situations

The successful candidate will report to our Director of Communications & Marketing and will be a natural, creative storyteller who knows how to turn ideas into powerful posts across scoail media channels. They'll have a proven ability to write, film and design original content that tells our story and will be confident with Canva, CapCut, Adobe or similar tools for editing video and visuals. We are Olive Branch Aid (OBA), an award-winning Foodbank charity operating in south London, and we are looking for a dynamic and confident Foodbank Manager to work alongside our newly appointed Foodbank Coordinator as well as an energetic team of more than 60 volunteers. 

We have achieved so much but we have ambitions to do so much more! 

Since beginning 5 years ago, OBA now provides food support for a day for the equivalent of 70,000 people a year. In 2024 we packaged and delivered more than 9 tonnes of food for those needing our services. Check out our website to read more about our journey.

OBA is different

OBA provides a hand-up rather than a hand-out. More than a Foodbank, OBA provides support for 3 months - much longer than most Foodbanks. We also provide an innovative well-being support service that helps service users address the underlying causes of their food needs. In 2024, OBA helped more than 75 households with complex underlying issues, this involved many weeks of telephone calls and meetings and helped prevent at least five families from becoming homeless. OBA also provides free preloved clothing and household goods to help service users get back on their feet.

Since 2023, OBA has its own fully funded premises off Portslade Road next to the Windrush overground station. Despite these successes, we continue to rely entirely on donations for our day to day expenses. As Foodbank Manager, you will help us secure the funding to grow our services and help even more people.

You’ll lead a full redesign of our in-house administration practices and workflows, including implementing a Shared Service technology solution to deliver an improved customer experience and internal processes. We are looking for a Cleaner to join our Team.

Our 627 sqm facilities host over 40 members and staff each day, providing a vibrant space for support services, creative projects, and events. As our Cleaner, you will be responsible for the cleaning and general upkeep of the centre and offices of Headway East London. You will play a vital role in maintaining a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for our community. Your work will ensure that our centre is not only a functional space but a place where people feel valued and cared for.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Working with an agency cleaner to perform cleaning duties as per the cleaning schedule, to ensure satisfactory levels of cleanliness throughout the building.

• Contribute towards retaining our 5 Star rating kitchen standards by supporting the kitchen team with post lunch cleaning.

• Work flexibly to support with ad hoc cleaning around out of hours events.

• Update the admin team when supplies of consumables are running low, ensuring that basic supplies are always available.

• Update the Admin and Premises Manager with any observation of health and safety risks and concerns.

• Assist the Admin and Premises Manager to improve and maintain our health and safety standards.

• Secure the building at the end of the day.
