As Sexual Health Manager, you will manage a sexual health service, and a team of 5 to deliver sexual health education and prevention services.

You will work closely with the NHS, pharmacies and the community, ensuring better sexual health outcomes. The services you will oversee, will be the condom distribution scheme, the National Chlamydia Screening programme and training and education to support local schools and colleges.

As Sexual Health Manager you will

• Provide leadership and management of the education and prevention in sexual health.
• Lead, motivate and support the team to develop their knowledge and skills, as well as supporting and directing the team.
• Employ good project management skills, ensuring that all contracted services remain on track.
• Lead on the delivery of outreach in the area, to include the most vulnerable or at risk, targeting LGBTQ+ people, speakers of other languages, young people and those living in economically deprived areas.

To be successful in the role you will

• Have at least 3 years managing, leading and motivating a diverse team.
• Have experience, or degree in healthcare, heath education or youth work.

In this role you will support the Hertfordshire sexual health team by assuming overall responsibility for the ordering and monitoring of stock and other resources, by posting free condoms each day to young people via our online service, posting and by accurately maintaining client management systems and electronic databases required for the programme to function. You will be able to communicate with a variety of agencies and young people, particularly around their use of the online free condom scheme and STI testing. You will also need to be proficient in Microsoft Office and be able to produce accurate records when required.

We are seeking a Sex Worker Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (SWISVA) to provide appropriate emotional and practical 1-to-1 support to people involved in sex work, who often experience stigma and face barriers to accessing services. Working within a specialist sexual violence approach, you will be enabling people to access support and navigate services, including those directly related to sexual violence. You will support them to navigate criminal justice processes if they wish to do so. You will be working in partnership with other agencies and making appropriate referrals for people to access other services to support their wider needs. You will play a key role in advocating for improved responses to sexual violence, including pathways through the criminal justice processes.  

The post is part of a unique partnership between National Ugly Mugs, Basis Yorkshire and POW (Nottingham) to ensure more specialist support for sex workers who have experienced sexual violence, to develop good practice guidelines, develop and share learning, and to influence change in provisions for sex workers. Each organisation will be employing a SWISVA; the program will be led by a Program Coordinator who will be based with Basis Yorkshire, and who will lead on influencing of policy and sharing of learning to improve outcomes for sex workers who have experienced sexual violence   

The main role responsibilities (further outlined in the job description) are:  

• Oversee a caseload of people who have experienced sexual violence

• Ensure that sex workers have access to specialist sexual violence services, including access to the SARC and support throughout the criminal justice process

• Ensure that safeguarding practice is embedded within working practices to effectively support those at risk 

• Work collaboratively with Police, ISVAs and other colleagues to ensure the needs of sex workers are met and their voices are heard within the criminal justice process 

• Advocate for sex workers wishing to access the specialist service, challenging discrimination, exclusion and stigma both for individuals and within the wider community  

• Ensure the service maintains its strict confidentiality and protects the data of those accessing the service 

• Work collaboratively with peers in the SWISVA Partnership Program and the Program Coordinator to enable the Programme to achieve its wider objectives of quality assurance, development of good practice guidelines, learning, evaluating and influencing  

• To work within POW to support the core services including drop-in and outreach, taking the lead and driving as allocated  

Experience of the sex work industry will be looked upon favourably. 

We are looking for a new Independent Sexual Violence Advisor to join our team in providing advocacy and support to survivors of rape/sexual violence and sexual abuse.The ISVA will be based in our central Reading office, with the option of hybrid working. ISVAs will need to travel within Thames Valley to meet clients as required.

Main Purpose of the Role:

To provide advocacy and support to survivors of sexual violence.  The ISVA will support adults who have reported or are wishing to report this crime navigate the criminal justice system. The ISVA will work closely with the Police Service, Sexual Assault Referral Centre, CPS, and other relevant organisations. 

ISVA Main Duties

· Provide advice, guidance and information to adults who have experienced rape and sexual abuse.

· Support service users that have been referred to Trust House Reading.

· Support clients in making informed choices about their future options.

· Explain relevant criminal, legal and civil remedies and housing options to clients as required.

· Assess the risk and support needs of clients.

· Develop individual support plans to address risks /support needs of clients.

· Ensure that clients are aware of the services to which they are entitled and advocate for them to help them access services.

· Understand the legal framework relating to the protection of children and vulnerable adults including the policy and procedures in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

· Support ISVA clients through the criminal justice system, explaining the procedures and their role and rights within that system, referring to Victim Support or the Witness Care Service as appropriate.

· Support the service user in making a witness statement and attending court.

· Keep the service user informed about case progress on behalf of the police in line with the requirements of the Service Code of Practice.

· Participate in case conferences with the police, CPS and prosecuting barrister.

· Assist clients accessing special measures.

· Liaise with the police, CPS and other service providers on behalf of the service user.

· Provide information and support in relation to Criminal Injuries Compensation.

· Help clients to develop their own support network.

· Refer on and arrange meetings with other agencies/services as necessary, for instance, sexual health services, mental health, drug and alcohol, counselling, housing etc.

· Actively and positively engage with other voluntary sector agencies, including sexual violence specialist agencies e.g. domestic violence service outreach, IDVA and refuge providers.

· Maintain and update records of all cases including initial referral, risk assessment, subsequent risk assessment, care and safety plans, and action taken.

· To understand and assess other support needs of clients, for example translation or interpretation needs and be fully aware of available resources.

· Where an assault is related to domestic violence and the client is assessed as high risk, refer on to Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) following locally agreed protocols (including working proactively with the Independent Domestic Violence Advisor Service), attend and participate in meetings and follow-up on actions agreed in MARAC.

· Contribute to the development of policies, protocols, guidelines, strategies within practice area if necessary.

· Collate areas of service gap and service inadequacy to feed back to the commissioner and the relevant strategic groups.

· Note and feed back to the commissioner and the relevant strategic groups or other appropriate body any consistent difficulties clients are having accessing services.

ISVA Person Specification

Position: Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA)

Hours: 5 days – Full time – 35 hours would consider 4 days -28 hours for the right person 

Salary: From £21,998 (for 4 days/week) to £27,498 (for 5 days/week), raising to £22,798 to £28,498 on successful completion of training, probation and six-month review.

RASASC is a registered charity which has been providing support to survivors of rape and sexual abuse of all genders (both recent and non-recent) and young people aged over 13, from across Surrey since 1992.

We provide an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) Service. ISVAs support survivors to help them overcome the abuse they have suffered and to rebuild their lives. This service also includes supporting the survivor to seek justice through the judicial system, should the survivor wish.

We also provide one-to-one counselling, group work, youth counselling and a family support programme, and a national Telephone Helpline.

Volunteers are an important part of the work we do. Volunteers staff our Helpline and many of our qualified counsellors work on a voluntary basis with survivors of rape and sexual abuse.

ISVA

ISVAs are survivor-focused advocates, who support survivors of recent and non-recent rape and sexual abuse to enable them to access the services they need in the aftermath of the abuse they have experienced. An ISVA provides individual support and this will vary from client to client.  

This role is based at the RASASC Guildford office and will work across Surrey. The ISVA must have a full driving licence and use of a car that can be used for work purposes.

You will be part of a dedicated, experienced, and friendly team consisting of Eleven ISVAs. The ISVAs meet fortnightly for peer support and work collaboratively with each other to share knowledge. Each ISVA has a lead area of responsibility in addition to your caseload supporting a range of clients.

You will be provided with monthly clinical supervision and attend monthly one-to-one meetings with the ISVA team leader.

Job Description

• To support survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
• It is the responsibility of the ISVA to impartially advise the client on all options open to them, such as the Criminal Justice System, SARC, GUM clinic and other local services.
• The ISVAs are expected to balance a caseload that includes survivors progressing through the criminal justice process as well as survivors that have decided not to report, or who are no longer in the criminal justice process.
• The ISVA will be based at Guildford RASASC but will be expected to travel throughout Surrey.
• The ISVA is expected to carry out other duties from time to time which are broadly consistent with those in this document, as the job description cannot cover every issue which may arise within the post.

 Key Tasks

· The ISVA will provide a survivor-focused, independent service, distinct from the role of a crisis worker or counsellor.

· Undertake risk assessment and support needs analysis with survivor and develop a support plan for the survivor.

· To provide advice and support across a wide range of issues, such as housing, health and education, that will help to support the survivor and ensure their ongoing safety in the aftermath of the abuse.

· Manage caseload and maintain necessary case files and records including monitoring information as required under funding conditions and by RASASC.

· To provide expert advice and support in relation to issues and the impact of rape and sexual abuse on this client group to other members of the ISVA team as well as the wider RASASC team. 

The ISVA will be required to undertake accredited training specifically designed to support them in delivering this service. This training is delivered virtually and is over six modules. Each module is taught over two consecutive days to minimise the amount of time ISVAs are away.

Purpose of the role:

We are looking for 2 Mental Health Personal Independence Co-ordinator’s to join our team.

The Mental Health Personal Independence Co-ordinator (MHPIC) will work as part of the MHPIC team and will work alongside clinical and social care professionals in local multi-disciplinary teams assigned to specific GP surgeries. Each MHPIC will be assigned to a specific locality located within the Integrated Care Network Plus health and social care systems in either North, Central or South Croydon. The multi-disciplinary team learning and development during the initial two-year test period will inform the development and growth of the MHPIC team to ensure that it can support community-based mental health and wellbeing across the whole population and in all 6 Integrated Care Network Plus localities.

MHPICs will provide initial contact and assessment conversations with clients using Open Dialogue tools and techniques to enable people to develop their own Personal Recovery Plans and supporting them directly over a period of time to find and access the support and services available to them in their local community.

Each MHPIC will be the direct named key worker for a set number of people who are referred to the service by healthcare professionals, including GPs, Mental Health Practitioners & Health Care Assistants, Social Prescribers and other voluntary or community sector organisations. They will provide one-to-one support in the achievement of an individual’s recovery goals, ensuring that support is person- centred; that needs and wishes are identified by people themselves; that they have a stronger voice in relation to issues that affect their lives; and that they are supported and empowered to improve and/or maintain their mental health and wellbeing and to live their best independent lives. 

Support in the community includes home visits. The aim of home visits is to assess clients' strengths and needs and link these to agency and community resources, and to ensure that individual clients’ needs can be met within a risk-assessed policy approach.

Oasis Hub Waterloo is seeking a skilled, adaptable, committed and passionate person who can provide high impact therapeutic support for local young people (aged 11 - 16) who live, work or play in the north Lambeth/Southwark area.

Qualities we are looking for include:

· Qualified counsellor with proven experience with vulnerable/at risk young people

· A team player, with excellent and adaptable relational and organisational skills

· Able to be self-motivated and work independently

The Child and Adolescent Counsellor will provide accessible, high-quality therapy to a diverse range of young people. This role is primarily school-based, working with a cohort largely made up of African and Caribbean youth. We encourage applications from counsellors who have recent experience of providing therapeutic support for young men aged 11 – 16.

Cultural competence is essential, with a focus on understanding the cultural, social, and individual factors that can influence effective engagement. Many of the young people supported in this role may have experienced challenges such as adverse childhood experiences, trauma, and low self-esteem.

Oasis Hub Waterloo is a fast-moving, innovative charity which offers opportunities to its employees to grow – the Child and Adolescent Counsellor will be instrumental in supporting Oasis Hub Waterloo services to be trauma led and trauma informed alongside other Oasis Waterloo project leads.

Oasis Hub Waterloo provides a broad and inclusive range of community development services for vulnerable and isolated people. Our services incorporate two Academy schools (one primary and one secondary), a children's centre, a city farm, sports programmes, targeted youth programmes, a foodbank, debt advice centre, a library, a café, a community centre, adult learning programmes and a great deal more. Voluntary Action Harrow is looking for a Health & Social Inequalities Co-ordinator and Trainer to work within our Stronger Communities Team.

Stronger Communities aims to remove barriers to accessing healthcare, increase community engagement and co-production, and reduce health inequalities in the borough of Harrow. This role involves developing and delivering a comprehensive portfolio of training sessions focused on Health and Social Inequalities, including Make Every Contact Count (MECC).

Responsibilities

• Develop a portfolio of training sessions covering a range of topics, particularly related to Health & Social Inequalities (including Make Every Contact Count (MECC)).
• Liaise with internal colleagues to ensure training content stays accurate
• Build effective working relationships with a wide range of  stakeholders including residents, voluntary, community and faith sector organisations, social enterprises, local NHS services, and statutory sector partners
  Liaise regularly with these partner organisations to identify and address training needs
• Deliver accessible training sessions both online and at venues in a way that empowers participants and increases their confidence, knowledge and expertise.
• Support in the promotion and communication of training sessions
• Manage, organise and support representation at community meetings, forums and networks, encouraging attendance.
• Meet defined targets for numbers of sessions and participants
• Seek feedback from participants and use this to continuously improve the training offer
• Manage and maintain comprehensive records of sessions delivered and participants feedback
• Contribute to ensuring that service performance standards and targets are met
• Evaluation of training, including case study and impact reports
• Identify and report evidence to support community insight
• Support other staff and volunteers to deliver training if and as required

Who are we?

Voluntary Action Harrow Co-operative work with the local community providing information, training and guidance.

Based in Harrow, we are a not-for-profit co-operative owned by our workers. We have in-depth knowledge of the local area and of who’s doing what. Our members collectively have over 35 years’ experience in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, specialising in capacity building in a variety of different organisational development areas.

We’ve worked with a diverse range of local organisations, from small community groups, to regional and international charities. We also run, manage and co-ordinate projects, working with local people and groups to help them make a difference in their local community.

You will be working within the Voluntary Action Harrow Stronger Communities Team, who hold a huge amount of knowledge, training templates and have good relationships with charities and community groups across Harrow.

The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) is the leader in the field of sexual and reproductive healthcare, and we are the voice for healthcare professionals working at the frontline of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (SRH) in a range of settings in the community and primary care. Our members include SRH specialists, GPs, nurses, midwives and pharmacists.

Can you help us?

This role plays an integral part in helping produce and develop the outputs of the External Affairs team, while advising on FSRH strategic issues where appropriate. The activity of the role is focussed on the management of FSRH’s external-facing media and social media functions, whilst playing a key role in communicating FSRH’s advocacy ambitions. The role also works with other internal Departments to develop and execute internal and corporate communications.

This role will also benefit from working closely with a Senior Media Consultant who will help upskill the role during 2024/25, providing an excellent learning opportunity.  

Are you an experienced media practitioner who is passionate about bringing healthcare rights to the fore of public opinion?

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an interest in healthcare policy and a passion for improving society. A background in PR, social and other media disciplines is highly desirable. Excellent writing skills are essential, as is a broad understanding of communications techniques to engage policy makers and the general public around the issues that clinicians and the public alike face.
