About the role
The Grants Officer will join our small, hardworking, friendly team and will be responsible for overseeing the monthly grants programme. They will support the Director in collating the board papers for each of the three annual Trustees’ meetings. They will also be expected to help assess the large and medium grant applications that go through to the Trustees’ meetings. The new Grants Officer will be asked to visit charities and projects, which will entail travel across England and Wales. The new Grants Officer will also maintain the grants database, be responsible for updating the new website and be the first port of call for any grant application enquiries.
About you
This role would suit a range of candidates and we are open to candidates without direct grant making experience but the successful candidate will need a demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the grants world. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have energy, enthusiasm, good communication and relationship building skills and experience and confidence with databases. An understanding of how to read charity accounts would be a bonus but training will be provided for the chosen candidate. You will have an aptitude for working both independently and as part of a collaborative team and managing a varied and busy workload.

programme.
Identify and develop innovative partnership models that align with the Foundation’s mission, vision,
values and theory of change.
Lead the management and implementation of JPF’s c£2m new legacy grants programme.
Ensure grant-making processes are efficient, from application to evaluation.
Build and maintain strong relationships with delivery partners, funders and with the sector.
People and Culture
Lead, manage, and support staff across the Grants, Partnerships and Operations functions, fostering a

The organisation is an independent charitable foundation that aims to build partnerships and invest in communities to make lasting change so local residents can access the wealth of opportunities that surround them. This Grants Officer role is available on a permanent contract and full-time basis (35 hours a week). This is a hybrid role, where the foundation would like the postholder to attend the Isle of Dogs office two days a week in East London, with Wednesday being a core office day. The salary banding for this role is £28,000-£32,000 (dependent on level of experience).
In this role, you will report to the Head of Grants and Programmes and support the development, management, and promotion of the foundation's grants programmes. You will manage a portfolio of grants, provide guidance to applicants and grantees, assess grant applications, and conduct due diligence to inform funding recommendations.
You will monitor funded projects, ensure timely reporting and validate project delivery. You will maintain accurate records on Salesforce. You will support donor engagement, ensure reporting aligns with CSR goals, review end-of-grant reports, and contribute to annual programme reporting. You will help deliver funding workshops and community events. You will assist with developing systems, policies, and communication tools for grant making. You will stay up to date on best practices in grant making and contribute to continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will have knowledge or experience of delivering a grants programme or working in a fundraising environment. You will have experience or understanding of working within the voluntary sector and needs of communities in the East-End of London. You will have a strong eye for detail and experience gathering, recording information, and presenting to audiences.
You will be a strong communicator, who can develop relationships with people from different backgrounds and lived experiences. You will be able to work on your own initiative and within a small team. You will have excellent IT literacy and administrative skills.
Desirably, you will have experience using Salesforce CRM, managing budgets, knowledge of participatory grant making, and public speaking.

- You will be part of a small organisation of around 15 people that take a flexible, collaborative and trust-based approach to work.
- Working closely with the Head of Blended Finance and the wider Programme team you will act as an integral support function for colleagues but also build good relationships with our external partners, supporting their engagement with Access.

What you will deliver (responsibilities)
Programme Support:
- Present analysis and insights based on performance data and any contact with delivery partners to inform decisions within the team about ongoing relationships.
- Support the writing of papers for the Investment Committee and other committees including the Access Board, to present clear information to support understanding and decision-making.
- Help to organise, manage and minute internal and external meetings and events, including peer learning workshops.
- Assist with keeping Programmes pages of the Access website up to date.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of a bank of practical resources for use by our partners

Finance:
- Ensure robust financial management of Access’s programmes, including monitoring deployment targets of social investors and supporting the process for drawing funds from Access.
Relationship management:
- Become one of the day-to-day points of contact for a portfolio of organisations who are delivering or supporting Access’s programmes, or in the process of applying to do so. These may include social investors, grant partners or other stakeholders.
- Build strong productive and supportive working relationships with delivery partners, in a spirit of collaboration and learning.
- Maintain comprehensive and clear records of the status of the relationship and any key questions or issues which are currently being addressed.
Data and learning:
- Support the acquisition and collation of regular performance data submissions
- Support the analysis and reporting on performance within each delivery partner and across the portfolio.

Since becoming a charity focused solely on campaigning in 2019, Age UK London has adopted and implemented a new strategy. The Board is looking for a new CEO to lead the charity through the next phase of its development, creating a new strategy to guide its campaigning work making London a better city for older people and to develop a sustainable income stream.

Key duties and responsibilities
· In conjunction with the board, lead the creation of a new strategy for the charity and develop and implement appropriate business and financial plans, with clear objectives and outcomes and to operationalise the strategy, ensuring all activities are aligned to achieve the strategy.
· Develop and implement a new income generation strategy, including building relationships with funders, and strengthening and growing our individual giving programme to put the charity on the path to becoming financially self-sustaining.
· Work with the Campaigns Manager to continue the delivery of high quality campaigns to make London a better city for older people and position Age UK London; and ensure campaigns are grounded in evidence and the views and experiences of older Londoners.
- Ensure that the Charity maintains relationships with all appropriate external stakeholders so that our campaigns are successful and the voices of older Londoners are heard in decision making, and to oversee the delivery of our external communications plan.
- Have overall responsibility for the lawful and efficient operation of the Charity including overseeing our outsourced finance function, governance; regulatory reporting; legal and regulatory compliance; HR, premises, insurances, IT and all other operational matters.
- Maintain our relationships with local London Age UKs via our existing networks and regional structures.
- Ensure appropriate reporting to the board with necessary analysis, (risk/benefits/resources) clearly presented to allow the board to discharge its governance function.

Role Overview: Knowledge in grant-funding, capacity building, organisational support
We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Charity Support Officer to help deliver AWN’s mission. You will be the first point of contact for grassroots charities, supporting them to strengthen their organisations and improve their chances of securing grant funding by offering practical guidance, signposting, and building trusted relationships that help them grow in confidence and resilience. The role includes helping organisations strengthen governance and compliance, sharing information on grant-funding opportunities, and supporting them to identify challenges and develop practical solutions.
The non-profits you will support work across a wide range of areas for example: women, health and wellbeing, youth, homelessness and poverty, family services, sports, faith groups, crime and gangs, prisoners and ex-offenders, refugees and asylum seekers, drug addiction, older people and rehabilitation, and many more.
Bringing a strong awareness of the barriers facing small charities particularly Muslim-led groups, will be key to helping them build long-term sustainability and impact.
Key Responsibilities:

Act as the first point of contact for charities and community groups, managing a varied caseload and balancing priorities.

Carry out needs assessments to understand organisations strengths, challenges, and funding needs, and develop clear action plans.

Provide tailored support, including health checks on governance, compliance, finances, and funding readiness, offering recommendations and signposting to specialist services (e.g., Cranfield Trust, CVS, Charity Excellence etc).

Advise on funding opportunities, strategy, and application readiness, with referrals to bid-writing support where needed.
