Jangala is seeking a technically adept and impact-driven person to generate insights from our internet inclusion projects across the UK and internationally. This role will be central in demonstrating the outcomes of Jangala’s programmes, improving our products and support to partners, and contributing to our organisational learning as we aim to deliver socially impactful internet to  4 million people by 2030.

This is a unique opportunity for a candidate equally comfortable designing and conducting qualitative field surveys and focus groups  as they are working with large-scale datasets. You will work directly with rich telemetry from our connectivity devices - complemented by interviews, surveys, and case studies - to understand and communicate the real-world impact of digital inclusion.

Details of the role

You will design and deliver Jangala’s monitoring, evaluation and data analysis activities. The role will report to Jangala’s Head of Programmes and be a member of the Jangala’s programmes department which leads on the delivery of Jangala’s donor-funded programmes in the UK and internationally, deploying Jangala’s award-winning technology and developing partnerships with community groups and grassroots organisations, charities, local authorities and the United Nations.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing Jangala’s M&E and data analysis systems across UK and international projects, aligning with our 2030 Vision and Theory of Change, as well as donor requirements

• Leading the design and implementation of both quantitative and qualitative data collection tools, including structured surveys, stakeholder interviews and case studies, ensuring methods are ethical and appropriate for diverse contexts

• Developing pipelines and scripts (primarily in Python) to analyse and interpret device telemetry data - eg. usage patterns, uptime, throughput and context-specific behaviours - across tens of thousands of devices operating in a variety of contexts

• Integrating qualitative findings with telemetry and survey data to develop a holistic understanding of impact, progress against indicators and our Theory of Change

• Collecting and analysing data and feedback from partners, end users and stakeholders eg. interviews, surveys and the development of case studies

• Collaborate with delivery partners and external stakeholders  to carry out M & E activities and report creation

• Ensuring the secure and organised storage of M&E data and supporting system improvements for capture and access

• Supporting fundraising and communications through evidence-based storytelling and impact narratives

The person we're looking for

Core Requirements:

• At least 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field (eg. data analysis, M&E, research, social impact)

• Experience with quantitative and qualitative research design, survey tools, and statistical methods

• Proficiency in Python/Julia data analysis and visualisation; ability to work with large or structured data sources and build reproducible analysis pipelines

• Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Kobo Toolbox, Dovetail or SPSS

• Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex data clearly to non-technical audiences in reports and presentations

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate across technical and programme teams, and with partners

• An understanding of data protection principles, and an appreciation of ethical considerations of M & E activities involving underserved communities, including in conflict-affected countries

Desirable Requirements:

• Prior experience in one or more of the following sectors: technology, humanitarian, UK charities or international development sectors

• Working knowledge of additional languages besides English, particularly French, Spanish or Arabic

Important details

Jangala’s office is based in London and operates a remote-first working policy. However this is a UK based role and travel to our London office will be required for mind-mapping and collaborative work at least once a week.

Youth Engagement Officer  

Location: Hybrid. Expected to be in our London office in Victoria at least one day per week. You can be remote every other day or come into the office. Your office days are flexible and can be agreed with your manager, other than for monthly team days where you must be in person. Some nationwide travel expected for Youth Steering Group training days, events and conferences. After passing probation, up to six weeks ‘super remote’ working per year, where you can work anywhere in the world as long as you’re online for four hours of the UK workday.

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2026 with the possibility to extend. 

Holidays: 38 days per year, including our 3-day winter shut down and eight flexible bank holidays.

Ensure the Fair Education Youth Summit is a success and remains truly youth-led  

Our Youth Steering Group design and run the annual Fair Education Youth Summit. The event is led by young people for young people and brings together young changemakers from across our membership and the wider education and youth sectors to develop their youth leadership skills, collaborate on campaigns, and engage directly with decision makers. You will support the young people to design sessions, secure speakers, embed past feedback and plan the event structure. You will also support with the event logistics, guestlist management, participant communications and collecting attendee feedback.

Support our members to improve their youth engagement practice  

Our Youth Engagement Working Group supports FEA members and other sector organsiations to increase and improve their own youth engagement practice. You will support the management of logistics, promote the workshops, and communicate with working group members. You will also support the facilitation of the workshops and ensure the attendee data and feedback is correctly logged and actioned. The critical responsibilities of this role are described above. The role
Luminary is entering an exciting phase in its development, transitioning from a small, founder-led start-up into a medium-sized charity. Over the past two years, we’ve experienced growth in our income, primarily through trusts and foundations. Building on this momentum, and with generous support from Comic Relief, we are now recruiting our first in-house fundraiser.

Location: Hybrid (3 days based on Luminary site and 2 days from home)

Salary: £45,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) 

Reports to: Luminary Limited CEO

Holidays: 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (plus 4 reflection days)

Key Responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to define and meet annual income targets from various income streams, identifying opportunities for income growth. 
•  Research, identify and apply for grants and funding opportunities from trusts and foundations, and corporates. 
• Research, cultivate and manage relationships with prospective funders and individual donors. 
• Develop compelling funding proposals and pitches.
• Support the development and delivery of a communications strategy to support fundraising.
• Organise and support fundraising campaigns, events and initiatives to engage donors and stakeholders. 
• Monitor and report on fundraising performance, agreeing realistic targets and taking steps to maximise Luminary’s funding opportunities in order to fulfil financial targets.
• Take an active role in the Senior Leadership Team to ensure efficient management of the charity and attend quarterly Trustee Board meetings.
• Stay up-to-date with trends and best practices in fundraising, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Essential:

Due to the role responsibilities, it is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the post holder is female, permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010

Five years + experience in fundraising contributing to strategy as well as delivery.

Demonstrated  success in fundraising  with a proven track record of securing significant income from trusts and foundations, and/or major donors and corporate partners.
Skilled in relationship-based fundraising with experience of donor cultivation and stewardship to secure long-term partnerships.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop compelling funding proposals, persuasive pitches and impactful reports.
Experience in financial planning including creating and managing budgets, and financial analysis skills to track and report income performance.
Strategic and innovative thinker able to identify, assess and pursue new funding opportunities aligned with charity goals.
Highly organised, self-motivated and proactive with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
A genuine passion for Luminary’s mission, with a strong commitment to empowering women and creating social change.

The HIV Prevention Peer Project Lead will coordinate a team of workers in the delivery of an HIV prevention project in Southwark borough to increase uptake & awareness of HIV & sexual health testing, PrEP and HIV prevention strategies among Latin American (Spanish and Portuguese speaking) communities. The work involves mapping community locations conducting HIV Prevention outreach and testing and engaging community ambassadors from local Latin American-focused organisations and businesses.

The project aims to raise awareness about methods of HIV Prevention, as well as reduce HIV stigma alongside improving the general health and wellbeing for Latin American communities in Southwark. 

Programme 

The Southwark Latin Community HIV Prevention Project will deliver a targeted programme of outreach, engagement, and education to the Latin American community in Southwark. The programme will include street-based outreach with our community engagement bus, Point of Care HIV testing and PrEP awareness sessions in community spaces such as high streets, local markets, nightclubs, bars/restaurants, and local Latin support and social organisations. 

Role 

You will coordinate a small team of staff and volunteers to provide education, support and HIV testing and referral services to Latin Communities in Southwark. You will coordinate monthly outreach activities using our mobile community testing bus to deliver interventions that increase HIV and sexual health testing uptake, condom usage, PrEP awareness, HIV treatment adherence support and reduce HIV stigma. You will also deliver broader health advice, interventions, and referrals for Latin American populations, such as GP registration, blood pressure, blood sugar, weight management & smoking cessation. 

You will gather data from outreach and collate to create quarterly reporting for our funders. 

You will work with the METRO Comms team to develop promotional materials, create a social media impact, and establish service branding to support effective community engagement and service delivery. 

The post holder is required to be fluent speaker in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese.

The applicant would have the ability to drive our outreach bus (desirable but not essential). For this, our insurance requires that you be aged between 25 and 70 and that you have held a UK, Category B driving licence for 2 years.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations Director reports directly to the Trustee Board and is responsible for the following:

1. Working with the Trustees

• Overall vision and mission setting: Developing the use of the services and the building and increase the impact of Ivy Street for the benefit of the local community.
• Fundraising: Raising funds from a variety of sources to ensure the long term financial security of the charity, particularly focussing on rental income from the facility.
• Financial: Overseeing finance (with the assistance of a Trustee Treasurer)  and ensuring that regular, accurate financial reports are provided to the Trustees and accurate records are kept, and providing an Annual Report for the annual accounts.
• Compliance: Ensuring that all legal requirements are met:
  • Health and Safety
  • HR
  • Safeguarding
  • All other policies and procedures including risk management.
• Community Impact: Nurturing of outside relationships with other organisations and services.
• Monitoring: Overseeing the quality and monitoring of our services.

2. Day to Day Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing a robust rental strategy to increase the use of the building for the long term financial security of Ivy Street and benefit of the local community.
• Networking with other organisations, charity partners and donors.
• Work with the staff team and trustees to develop and monitor the programme of activities and services.
• Overseeing staff and the activity programme.
• Overseeing the maintenance of the fabric of the building.
• Promoting the charity’s work with other organisations and in the local community.
• Ensuring that accurate financial and service records are kept.
• Developing and implementing a volunteer programme to support the work of the staff and provide opportunities for local people.

3. Reporting

• Attending Trustees meetings.
• Providing regular written reports to the Trustees for each trustees’ meeting.

4. Training

• Ensuring that appropriate training is available to all staff and volunteers.
• Pursuing self development by attending appropriate training courses/events and networking opportunities.
