About the role

We're looking for a Deputy Service Manager to join our residential service based in Croydon. You will support the Service Manager to provide leadership and line management to a team of Recovery Workers, Engagement Workers, and other frontline care and support staff. You will be present to ensure a quality service is delivered 24 hours a day, working closely with the night teams to ensure quality handovers. 

You will provide general leadership to the team so they feel empowered to be productive and perform well within their roles, supporting a service which focuses on Forensic Mental Health for 27 people across 4 sites in Croydon. Night Support Workers enable people with particular needs to manage their tenancies and live independent lives of their choosing in the community. Night Support Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of a support service at night and for keeping customers and the building safe.

The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure members of the local community are able to access critical mental health support at all hours. The service receives referrals primarily from a local hospital emergency department and crisis lines, and may receive these referrals at anytime of day or night.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Support Worker to join our friendly team in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to work at our supported living services providing support for adults with a learning disability, physical needs and support needs.

Our mission is to provide a safe, homely environment in which adults with additional needs can live as independently as possible whilst receiving bespoke packages of care and support that fulfil their needs.  We are looking for someone who can lead a team of dedicated support workers to achieve positive outcomes for service users; this will include organising activities and events, helping to coordinate and deliver individual packages of care and support, being able to motivate others to provide the best support.

Your role will include:

• Provide excellent, respectful and individualized support to all service users.
• To develop sincere and trusting relationships with service users and to encourage them to express their needs, views and concerns.
• Support the management and co-ordination of service delivery, effectively meeting the needs of the service users.
• To provide mentorship; support and guidance for the staff team working within the service; including deploying staff and managing rotas.
• You will need to be able to work flexibly according to the needs of the service to include daytimes, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

At least one years’ experience in providing care and support for adults with a learning disability, physical needs and support needs older people is essential for this role. As a senior support worker you will be compassionate, motivated, diligent and able to empathise with individuals.

You will be warm, well organised, and conscientious; you will be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. You will be required to work on a rota, undertaking early, late and weekend duties as required. Senior support workers are expected participate in an on-call rota.

Support Worker Duties:

• Develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships with service users
• Promote the self-esteem, happiness and emotional health of service users, encouraging and supporting them to express their needs, views and concerns

• Provide respectful personal care in accordance with the needs, wishes and preferred routines outlined in the individual’s personal support plans
• Supporting people in a wide range of activities within their home and community

Experience is desirable for this role, but it is not essential as full training will be provided. One of our tenants has a beloved cat, so applicants need to be able to work in this environment. A driver’s license is also desirable.

Our service in Newbury, Berkshire provides excellent care and support to individuals with learning disabilities. As Senior Support Worker, you will work alongside the Team Leader to assist with the coordination and delivery of high-quality outcome-focused, person centred support to tenants. You will be positive about supporting people to increase their independence and ensure that they are at the centre of all decisions made about their lives. 

Your role will include:

· Developing and leading the team to enable the tenants to have a high quality of life, and to be important and valued members of the local community

· Be responsible for ensuring personal, practical, emotional and social support is delivered at all times

· Assisting our Team Leaders and Registered manager in ensuring all residents receive the highest quality and care and support

At least two years’ experience in providing care and support to people with a range of complex support needs is essential for this role. As Senior Support Worker, compassion, motivation, diligence and an ability to empathise with individuals is also essential.
