Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) is the national governing body for the game of wheelchair rugby in England, Scotland, and Wales, is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, and is a full member of World Wheelchair Rugby (WWR) and of the British Paralympic Association (BPA).  

In the last ten years, GBWR has grown the paralympic discipline of the sport from a domestic league with a single division comprised of seven teams, to one which now has three leagues providing competition opportunities for 22 teams. The domestic league is internationally recognised for its high level of competition, where it regularly sees international players from Europe joining domestic teams and strengthening the level of competition.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and driven Head of Community and Participation to lead the development and implementation of strategies aimed at significantly increasing participation in wheelchair rugby across Great Britain. This pivotal role will be responsible for designing and delivering impactful community outreach programs, engaging with local clubs and organisations, and developing innovative approaches to reach new participants, particularly those that are classifiable for wheelchair rugby (Paralympic discipline).

The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in community development, sports development, and marketing, with a strong understanding of how to build sustainable participation pathways. While experience within disability sports is advantageous, it is not essential for an individual with the right blend of skills and passion.

The Kennington Association (KA) is a registered charity and active community organisation based in North Lambeth. In 2013, the KA rescued the historic Lollard Street Adventure Playground (LSAP) from impending closure, brought on by local government spending cuts. With sustained funding from leading grant makers, the playground has since gone from strength to strength, winning Coolest Place to Play in the 2015 London Play Adventure Play Awards. It is now embarking on further development with a capital programme to replace the indoor play spaces, having already replaced the outdoor play structures and built new changing facilities which make our two sports pitches accessible to children with special needs. LSAP is a vibrant, welcoming space where children can engage in free play, and it offers a dynamic and rewarding environment for staff and volunteers alike.

The successful candidate will have a good, current understanding of safeguarding practice as it applies to young people and will have practical experience of working/volunteering with children in this context. An understanding of school sport and/or the FA’s Safeguarding 365 standard would be an advantage.

Main responsibilities:

• To support delivery of The FA Schools’ Football Strategy and the English Schools’ FA’s Business Plan
• To manage the ESFA’s safeguarding work, in line with legislation, FA safeguarding policy, procedures, regulations, standards and guidance.

Job role

• To oversee, track and ensuring ongoing compliance with all areas of The FA’s Safeguarding 365 Standard for County FAs measures, policies and procedures and collate and submit all evidence for assessment.

• To identify, develop and maintain strong relationships with key safeguarding stakeholders.
• To strategically manage effective Association Safeguarding Officer networks; liaising with the Local Authority Designated Officers, Local Safeguarding Partnerships, Local Safeguarding Adult Boards, Children’s and Adults’ Social Care Services, Police Child Protection Teams and support Association Welfare Officers to be compliant with safeguarding legislation, FA safeguarding policy, best-practice guidance and education programmes.

As Project Manager, you’ll lead key aspects of the Grass Pitch Programme, working with national governing bodies and stakeholders to improve the quality and sustainability of grass pitches. You’ll also deliver a nationwide volunteer strategy, helping to recruit, train, and retain volunteers who maintain vital community pitches. This role blends programme delivery, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement at the highest level.

In this role, you’ll manage multi-sport capital and revenue investment plans, build strong relationships with NGBs, County FAs, and delivery teams, and lead the development of a robust volunteer Groundskeeper strategy. You’ll coordinate project timelines, budgets, KPIs, and risks, while using data to drive continuous improvement.

The salary band for this role is £40,000 - £46,000 per annum, dependent on relevant skills and experience.

The Manager is an employee of the Marine Society & Sea Cadets based at our Crosby Boat Station. The post holder is required to hold and maintain the following qualifications as a condition of employment: RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor and RYA Powerboat Instructor.

The primary purpose of the role is to manage a water-sports training facility in the Liverpool area for all Sea Cadet Units and other affiliates to the Boat Station.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day to day running of the Boat Station.
• Ensure that all visiting groups and their staff are fully briefed on the Boat Station’s policies and procedures and that there is adequate supervision of Cadets and young people at the facility, so as to discharge their duty of care for them.
• Oversee the Chief Instructor and all other sessional Instructors using the Boat Station.
• Manage the Boat Station’s accounts in liaison with the Regional Finance Manager including day to day fees.
• Ensure that best practise in accordance with the NGB guidelines and requirements following our Inshore Boating Operating Standard.

The post holder will be based at our Ashton Gate office with weekend work on a Bristol City matchday.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of Robins Lotto and coordinate regular member engagement activities.
• Lead on matchday fundraising, including the 50/50 draw, scratch cards, and bucket collections.
