3. Build partnerships with local businesses and community groups to increase student engagement with the wider town and develop town-centre activations.

5. Promote all events through digital channels and on-campus marketing.
6. Complete thorough risk assessments for all events, ensuring health, safety, and accessibility are prioritised.
7. Maintain accurate records of activities, feedback, and attendance to evaluate and improve impact.
8. Support wider Students’ Union events and cross-team campaigns as needed.
9. Support the Marketing Manager with the delivery of Open Day events and activities.

Overview:  

Spires supports homeless and vulnerably housed people in South London. Spires has undergone a period of rapid transformation, moving to a model of multi-site working across three London Boroughs. Our core services include, day centre style drop ins for homeless people, a Women’s drop in, a Refugee drop in and outreach targeted at supporting Women who are sex working.  
 
The Head of Fundraising and Communications will be joining the organisation at an exciting time. Recent successful funding outcomes provide a short period of relative funding stability and an opportunity for the post holder to develop our communications and community fundraising strategies.

Part 1:  Job profile 

 
1.1 Purpose of job 

To generate income from a diverse funding pool that includes trusts and foundations, legacy and individual giving, community giving, government contracts and corporate support. Trusts and foundations remain the primary funding source for Spires so maintaining consistent application output is a core element of the role.

Oversee Spires’ external relations and public profile. The post holder will be responsible for all communications and will look for areas to increase the organisations profile.

Work with Spires CEO and the Head of Client Services to ensure that data and outcomes are being effectively captured in a way that is helpful for evidencing impact.

1.2 Position in organisation 

The post holder joins Spires’ Senior Leadership Team and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The post holder will join the finance, fundraising and risk subcommittee which includes members of the board of trustees.

The post holder will manage the Communications and Community Engagement Lead who currently leads on community fundraising, social media and volunteer recruitment.

Part 2: Key duties and responsibilities 

2.1 Management Responsibilities 

• To manage the fundraising/communications staff and volunteers.

• Hold and record regular staff supervisions.

• Ensure that Spires’ policies are adhered to.

• Attend Spires’ managers meetings.

2.2 Income generation  

• Maximise existing and find new income to meet agreed income targets. 

• Research, write and present attractive propositions for a range of quality funding bids, proposals and documentation. 

• Produce and submit quality funding reports to meet deadlines.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fundraising regulations, networks and developments across the sector, advising on best practice 

2.3 Planning, monitoring and reporting  

• Contribute to the internal planning and budget setting, setting out clear plans for income generation. 

• Contribute to forecasting and regular reporting, producing verbal and written reports for the CEO and Board of Trustees. 

• Actively manage contracts to ensure that Spires is delivering agreed outcomes and spending restricted funds correctly.

2.4 General 

• Review and update the fundraising strategy.

• Undertaking other duties compatible with the level and nature of the post and/or reasonably required by more senior members of staff, including session cover 

• Attend and participate in staff and team meetings and other meetings as required

• Experience of working in the fundraising sector in a professional capacity

Part 4: Summary of terms and conditions of service 

Location: The postholder will be an employee of The Spires Centre. This post is based at 2nd Floor, Elmfield House, 5 Stockwell Mews, SW9 9GX This role will by hybrid with three days in the office and two days from home.

Probation: This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period.

Notice: This post is subject to an 12 weeks’ notice period once confirmed in post. 

Annual leave: The annual leave entitlement is 35 days per year including 8 bank holidays. 

Pension: The Spires Centre will contribute 5% of annual salary for those who qualify for our group pension plan. 

Other benefits: The Spires Centre will provide life and income protection insurance for those who qualify for our group plans.

About the role:

The Business Support Officer role sits within the Professionalisation team at the Council which develops and manages a range of products including the development and management of the Council Standard, cyber security specialisms and professional titles. The team is also responsible for managing and supporting licensed bodies, developing the career framework, and implementing and managing processes for mapping to our Professional Titles.

The role is varied but primarily administrative with scope for the role holder to develop skills and experience in project management, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities (not necessarily in priority order)

· Support the Professionalisation team with the development, implementation and management of cyber security specialisms, mapping and business as usual requirements.

· Undertake administrative tasks across the Professionalisation team that contribute to the professional registration processes enabling cyber professionals to apply for Chartered, Principal, Practitioner and Associate registration.

· Co-lead the Youth Advisory Panel with colleagues with support from the Project Manager – Careers & Skills as required.

· Assist with project and risk documentation. Support and assist with maintaining detailed project plans, models, and tools.

· Provide relationship and stakeholder management and administration where required.

· Organise and support the facilitation of panels, committees, webinars, and other events.

· Liaise with partner organisations and support the delivery of professional registration workshops for applicants/registrants.

· Assist with pilot programmes and transitions as agreed with the line manager, including taking meeting minutes and updating documents including action and risk logs.

· Ensure that appropriate records are added and maintained through the use of the organisation’s CRM system and professional registration Register.

· Contribute to a cohesive approach with colleagues across the organisation maintaining open and effective communication with internal and external colleagues.

· Assist with the preparation of progress reports, as required, for Senior Leadership team.

· Comply with data protection legislation and act responsibly on matters of data disclosure both internally and to third parties.

· Carry out ad-hoc tasks, for the team, supporting the effective and efficient functioning of the Council.

Thrombosis UK is a small but impactful health charity focused on raising awareness, funding research, and supporting education around venous thromboembolism (VTE). The Eikon Charity supports children and young people in Surrey to feel safe, heard, and supported. Through one-to-one support, group work, and programmes in schools, they help children build confidence, resilience, and the skills they will need to navigate life’s challenges.

Following a period of growth, the trusts and foundations team now plays a pivotal role in The Eikon Charity’s £1m income strategy. This Trust Fundraiser role will join a three-person team within the broader Engagement function. With a 50/50 split between account management and new business, the postholder will manage a mix of warm and prospective funders, creating compelling proposals and impact reports to secure mostly restricted income.

The successful candidate will inherit a portfolio with long-standing funders and committed support. With a personal target of £150k, this role offers real scope to uplift existing relationships and secure new ones.

The charity is open to applicants from other fundraising disciplines – whether you’re a confident communicator with excellent writing skills, or an early-career fundraiser ready to develop, this is a great opportunity to make a difference within a collaborative and mission-driven team.

As Trust Fundraiser, you will:

• Deliver c.£150k annually through a balance of account management and new business
• Write tailored funding proposals and detailed reports to secure restricted and unrestricted grants
• Steward relationships with clarity and professionalism, organising funder meetings and engagement opportunities
• Research and develop a pipeline of prospects, focusing on Surrey-based trusts and foundations
• Work closely with delivery and engagement teams to gather insight, data, and stories that bring proposals to life
• Maintain accurate CRM records and contribute to reporting, planning, and internal analysis
• Support strategic planning for the team and contribute to a shared fundraising vision

Ideal skills and experience:

• Fundraising experience, with strengths in written communication and/or relationship management

Fundraising and Administration Officer

Contract: Full time, 12 month fixed-term with potential for the role to develop into a permanent position. 

Salary: £25,000 based on 35hr working week.

About Child. org

Child. org is a Nairobi-based, UK-registered charity that champions community-based healthcare solutions to make pregnancies and births safer. We work with pregnant women, new mums, communities and local health authorities in Kenya to provide life-saving antenatal and post-natal health information, connect at-risk mums and babies with the healthcare services they need and work with local health authorities to advocate for and improve the quality of care. 

Our Income Team, based in Bristol in the UK, brings together fundraising and enterprise streams to raise vital funds to support our project work in Kenya, as well as leading our digital communications and supporter stewardship.

The Opportunity

You’ll join us at a transformative time for Child. org; our maternal and newborn health work is growing year on year across Kenya, and we are cementing a reputation as experts in community-led maternal and newborn health. Alongside these exciting developments our fundraising revenue is growing. Our two flagship events, Ride Africa and Charity Concierge, are thriving and we are now actively investing in our capacity to help us reach new audiences and continue to develop their potential.

The Role

As Fundraising and Administration Officer, you’ll support the fundraising team across our events and supporter stewardship. This varied role will see you work with the team across events and project management, fundraising stewardship and communications alongside incredible international and national travel opportunities supporting Ride Africa and Charity Concierge events. 

Key Objectives

• Support the Events Officer with the delivery of our biggest ever Charity Concierge season across the summer of 2026 providing support for volunteer recruitment and management, and critical on-site support at various festivals

• Support the Child. org team with the delivery of Ride Africa in November 2025; providing valuable support to participants and managing enquiries/requests. 

• Big Give Campaign 2025: support the Communications Officer to hit our Big Give Christmas Challenge appeal target, leading on the timely thanking of donors and supporting the promotion of the appeal through social media and newsletters

• Other events support: support the Events Officer to plan 25th birthday celebration and supporter event in London (The Shindig) and the mentoring and stewardship of our first ever London Marathon team. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Event management support (60%)

  • Event management

    • Procurement support: follow procurement plan and guidelines to source equipment, ensuring delivery to budget and within allocated time frames. 

    • Budget management: log and monitor expenditure across all events, being sure to keep us on track and in line with budget.

    • Equipment management and stock takes: responsible for looking after and ensuring safe storage and tracking of equipment to maximize longevity. 

    • Regular project support: track and follow project management plan for event delivery; work with the Events Officer to prioritise and allocate tasks and resources. 

    • On site support: support the Events team to deliver our flagship events: Ride Africa and Charity Concierge. This includes events set up: erecting gazebos, driving, loading/unloading.

    • Volunteer/participant management. Managing volunteers and participants at our events. Be the first point of contact for queries, respond to challenges and manage day-to-day morale throughout the events 

• Participant management: 

  • Support the Events Officer to track, measure and manage participant recruitment across our Events Programme 

  • Support the Events Officer with participant communications pre and post event, across Mailchimp, WhatsApp, email and more

  • Fundraising support: track fundraising through third party platforms such as JustGiving and Enthuse, ensuring event fundraising totals are up to date; mentor and support events fundraisers with exceptional stewardship.

Fundraising administration and stewardship support (30%)

• Update digital resources (fundraising pages, website, WhatsApp groups) and maintain digital templates and documentation. 

• Deliver high standards of supporter care, including responding to general correspondence (email and phone) and queries regarding fundraising, and ensuring timely thanks to donors.

• Fundraising administration, reconciliation and reporting: ensure Donorfy records are up to date, accurate and kept in accordance with GDPR requirements. 

• Big Give campaign support: track and monitor campaign donations through the Big Give campaign; with the Communications Officer ensure timely thanking and brilliant stewardship of donors. 

Events Marketing support (10%): 

• Social media and digital design tools: use Canva and Hootsuite to publish regular posts to the Charity Concierge and Ride Africa socials (Instagram, Facebook and TikTok), to increase reach, engagement and sign ups.

• Research and develop relationships within the local and surrounding communities to increase support and fundraising income through event participation.

• Work closely with the Communications and Fundraising Officer to keep event websites up to date and make changes to any pages where necessary.

Person Specification

Skills and experience: 

• Excellent organisational and time management skills

• Exceptional interpersonal skills, especially your ability with a variety of people and audiences

• Ability to work effectively with colleagues and partners at all levels across the organisation, in both the UK and Kenya

• Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and a busy inbox

• Experience of delivering and working to targets

• Previous experience of working (or volunteering) within the charity or events sector

• Experience of participating in or supporting the delivery of challenges/events

• Experience of public speaking and giving presentations

• Experience of fundraising - whether through personal or team challenges, participating in events, volunteering or personal support of a charity

• Digital literacy: knowledge of Google Workspace or equivalent, social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook and Tik Tok;
