Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. Through our grants programme, we support local organisations working with older people across the UK.  

We use the knowledge and insight gained from our support services and partnerships to highlight the issues experienced by older people in poverty and campaign for change.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:

The Head of Governance will lead the charity’s small Governance and Risk, and Facilities teams. They are responsible for governance, company secretarial, risk management, health and safety, safeguarding, information governance, procurement and contracts management, business continuity planning, and management of facilities and the charity's office and small portfolio of other properties.

The role would suit someone who enjoys a broad remit and working with colleagues across the charity, who can think around issues and implement pragmatic solutions. As the role has a wide remit, the ability to learn quickly will be key. Candidates will need senior level experience of charity governance, risk management and safeguarding, ideally working with adults at risk. Applicants will need to be good communicators, verbally and in writing.

This role is 0.5FTE (17.5 hours per week). There is some flexibility around how the hours can be worked, but hours would normally be worked across 2.5 days a week, with attendance required at specific times for management and trustee meetings. Office attendance will be required on average 2 days a week for meetings and due to responsibility for office management.

Summary

The Vision and Strategy Team at the National Church Institutions are looking to hire a Monitoring and Evaluation Lead to join their fast growing team. The purpose of this role is to oversee the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the SMMI grant-making programme to support the delivery of the Church of England's Vision and Strategy. Working with dioceses, external partner organisations and colleagues across the Vision and Strategy team, the postholder will build capacity around implementing M&E good practice for funded programmes and beyond, to ensure effective programme design, monitoring of performance, gathering of information and supporting the release of lessons learned to catalyse wider change within the Church.

The postholder will set M&E policies and direction working closely with their line manager (Head of Grants). The role is critical in providing trustees full confidence in the use of funding and its impact through monitoring and evaluation. This is a strategically important role, as it directly consolidates emerging learning to further support the Church's Vision and Strategy.

About the Department/Role

The Vision and Strategy Team has been established to support the whole Church in its embrace of and engagement with the national Vision and Strategy for the Church for the 2020s, and to support the implementation of the Emerging Church programme. Purpose 

The key role is pivotal in maintaining and continuously improving the quality of governance in a national Adult Social Care Charity which fundraises and is registered under the Charity Commission Code of Governance and practises’ the ethical principles under the NCVO.

• Member and Family Member Engagement 

• Support a step change in the oversight and administration of recognised Family Member engagement structures; primarily at Delrow/St Albans, Gloucester and Botton Communities Family Reference/Engagement Groups, supporting agenda development, minute taking and follow up plans/actions via Community Administration. Report issues and concerns through the appropriate channels. 

• Policy Framework and Development of Policy 

• Oversee the Trust Policy Framework; ensuring that Policy is mapped, shaped and monitored and that clear governance routes exist for update, review and approval through the senior leadership team, Executive, Committee’s and Board.

• Provide proportionate, high quality executive support to the CEO and Directors Group as required by the individual members. 

Being a Manager 

• Provide good quality, inclusive line management support to the Executive Officer ensuring that regular 1:1 and annual appraisal is provided, and personal development planning is in place as needed. 

What you’ll bring to the role:   

• Significant proven experience and/or qualification in governance within a similar sector (Public/Charity/Third Sector) 

• Demonstrate an excellent understanding of governance, processes and requirements through prior experience in a similar role in the public/voluntary or charity sector. 

• Strong interpersonal, diplomatic communication skills, verbal and written (report writing) and excellent organisational skills. 

• Experience in supporting and engaging with senior stakeholders and an ability to show initiative and lead in aspects of work.

The Role

Focusing mainly within the recruitment side of practice, you will act as the first point of contact for all recruitment related queries while supporting managers through the recruitment and onboarding process. The requirement

The Innovation Fund & Project Manager will join our team to run our innovation fund and to manage projects designed and created by BDF staff members to improve the lives of disabled people in society more widely.

The Innovation Fund & Project Manager will also work across teams to help design and manage the creation of various new products and services. In addition, they will work closely with the CEO to scope out and deliver a specific project to increase the number of disabled people who are Non-Executive Directors and advisers to boards.

About the role:
As Responsible Business Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in embedding Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) across members’ operations. You’ll provide expert advice, coordinate responsible business initiatives, and work with internal teams to ensure supply chain risks are identified and addressed. This is a unique opportunity to shape ethical conduct in the private sector and influence change from boardroom to tea field.

You’ll also lead engagement with the Global Tea Coalition, manage stakeholder relationships, and design learning and communications content that helps members understand and act on sustainability issues.

Key responsibilities include:

• Advise members on responsible business practices and HREDD implementation
• Support design and integration of responsible business elements into global programmes
• Develop guidance and assess member practices against updated membership criteria

• Lead and coordinate the Global Tea Coalition (GTC), supporting strategic planning and member engagement

· Planning and delivering impactful public affairs activity

Ensuring systems are in place to help plan, monitor and evaluate public affairs activity and maximise opportunities to engage with key audiences, including Parliamentarians, advisers, and UK Government Ministers; and support close working with colleagues in all UK nations and regions.  Managing the development and delivery of public affairs activity to support high profile influencing campaigns.

· Building and managing strong relationships with key external stakeholders

Developing relationships, partnerships and networks to help raise the profile, credibility and influence of Trussell and our policy positions, particularly in the UK Parliament.  Representing Trussell and promoting the organisation’s policy position to key audiences, including in meetings and events with Parliamentarians.

· Developing public affairs support to the food bank community

Working closely with a small team of Network Policy and Research Officers and the Organising and Local Mobilisation team to support our community of food banks to build and maintain strong relationships with their local MPs.  Ensuring public affairs activity is well aligned to campaign strategies involving the food bank network.

· Embedding participatory approaches across our public affairs and wider influencing activity

Supporting further development of a participatory approach to policy influencing to ensure it is rooted in the lived experience of individuals affected by poverty.  This includes ensuring an ethical approach in line with our values.

· Providing advice and line management

Have line management responsibility for individuals within the team, providing pastoral and development guidance along with task management on key projects.  This includes regular 1:1s, objective setting and collaborative monitoring, and support with development needs.

Person Specification

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

· Track record of successfully influencing politicians and key decision-makers to achieve strategic goals at different levels of government.

· Track record of delivering strategic public affairs activity based on robust evidence, from development to evaluation.
