The Role

As CEO, you will provide inspirational leadership and strategic direction, working closely with the Board of Trustees to deliver our mission and vision. You will be responsible for:

An exciting opportunity to join our Community Fundraising team. The Volunteer & Community Fundraising Assistant role is the first point of contact for supporter enquiries, provides administrative support across the team and supports Charity activity through our volunteer programme.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money to save the lives of people with cancer, everywhere. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. 

From funding state-of-the-art equipment and ground-breaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. 

We are a very ambitious organisation which has gone through transformational growth over the past five years. Alongside funding an existing programme of world-leading research, treatment and care, the Charity completed its largest capital appeal to date, successfully raising £70 million to build the Oak Cancer Centre at the hospital’s Sutton site, which opened in summer 2023. 

With one in two of us expected to develop some form of cancer, it is essential that we go even further in our fundraising efforts to support the essential work of The Royal Marsden. Therefore, we are delivering our most ambitious strategy yet, that will see us raising at least £215m over the 5-year period.

The Charity is committed its biggest fundraising appeal to date, for a new major development project in Chelsea. There is also an extensive portfolio of engaging projects outside of the capital appeals that help to support all aspects of the hospital’s work to improve the lives of cancer patients. 

This role is an integral part of the Community Fundraising team, providing support to people raising funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and being the first point of contact for enquiries. Dealing directly with supporters and volunteers, the role requires an effective communicator and proactive individual who is passionate about fundraising and volunteering.

The Role

Main Purpose of the Role: 

To provide proactive, emotional, and practical support to families and individuals affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) across England. The role will focus on early engagement, wellbeing assessment, community building, and delivery of workshops and events, while ensuring accurate tracking of support outcomes and data.   
  
The successful candidate will also lead on support for our End of Life and Bereavement projects, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, palliative care teams, and hospices to ensure families have access to appropriate services and resources. 

Specific Tasks: 

1. Proactive Family Support  

• Initiate contact with newly registered families within agreed timeframes (email within 3 working days, call within 7–10 working days)  

• Contact to be made to all registered Action Duchenne members, knows to us in the Regions you will be covering, to ensure the current support offer is clear   

• Provide ongoing support tailored to individual needs, including emotional wellbeing, physical health, housing, financial security, self-esteem and respect, decision-making, social engagement, quality of life, and access to care  

• Use the Action Duchenne Assessment Form and Action Plan to identify and respond to areas of concern  

2. Advanced and End-of-Life Care Support 

• Provide compassionate, practical, and emotional support to children, young people, and adults living with Duchenne, and their families, as they navigate advanced stages of the condition and end-of-life care. 

• Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, palliative care teams, and hospices to ensure families have access to appropriate services and resources. 

• Develop and share guidance, resources, and workshops to help families prepare for and manage advanced care planning, symptom management, and emotional wellbeing. 

• Support families in understanding available options for care settings (home, hospice, hospital) and facilitate informed decision-making. 

• Ensure continuity of care and communication between multidisciplinary teams, while respecting family preferences and cultural considerations. 

• Offer signposting to bereavement support and follow-up services for families after loss. 

3. Wellbeing Tracking and Outcome Measurement  

• Administer wellbeing questionnaires and record scores across key domains (e.g. physical health, emotional wellbeing, financial security)  

• Collaborate with families to co-create action plans and track progress  

• Ensure all data is entered into CRM (E-Tapestry or similar) within the allotted timeframe, i.e. immediately after or during the call.  

4. Community Engagement and Event Delivery  

• Organise and deliver regional meetups (minimum one per quarter)  

• Facilitate support groups (virtual and in-person) for parents, young people, and extended family (minimum one per quarter)  

• Support delivery of workshops and events aligned with programme schedule (e.g. music, life skills, employability)  

• Actively participate in networking events to promote Action Duchenne within our communities, build relationships, and drive growth in membership by encouraging registration of families affected by Duchenne 

5. Stakeholder Collaboration  

• Liaise and develop relationships with external organisations including NHS care advisors and clinics, local authorities, counselling services, and other charities  

• Represent Action Duchenne in across your regions and build relationships with local networks  

6. Administration and Reporting  

• Maintain accurate records of all interactions and support provided  

• Contribute to quarterly reporting on activity delivery, capacity utilisation, and family impact  

• Support development of CRM processes and service delivery improvements  

7. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):  

• New contact acknowledgement email: within 3 working days

• New contact follow-up call: within 7–10 working days 

• Families contacted per week: 12–15 hours of direct contact

• Regional meetups: 1 per quarter

About the job role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Support Administrator in our First Contact Team at St Joseph’s Hospice. We are looking for someone who has experience in administration and working in a healthcare environment.

The First Contact Team is a dynamic one-stop service that transforms the way patients and referral agencies access the Hospice’s services. An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Administrator to join the First Contact Team. If you are a successful applicant, you will be part of the team that acts as the first point of contact for the Hospice’s services. You will answer telephone calls from people who may be in difficult and stressful situations, provide advice and signpost to other services or agencies. You will also undertake associated administration and data entry.

The service operates 24 hours over seven days a week for advice, whilst referrals will be taken mainly in daytime hours. You will work 37.5 hours every week. Shift patterns will vary, and you will be expected to cover shifts from Monday through Friday, 8.00 am to 9.00 pm, plus occasional weekends according to the rota.

1) Governance & Strategic Leadership

About Light Peer Support

Light is a perinatal mental health support charity, set up in 2010, which has grown to support parents and their families across South Yorkshire through the provision of peer support and counselling. We’re led by our passion to support mental health during pregnancy and beyond for all families from all communities.  

From our hub in Sheffield as well as in Family Hubs across Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley, we work with families who are experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties in the perinatal period, working in partnership across the statutory and voluntary sector to raise awareness of perinatal mental health difficulties and the support available.

The role

Following the planned retirement of our current Chief Executive, we are seeking an exceptional leader to guide our grassroots charity through its next phase of growth and development. As our new Chief Executive, you will work closely with the Board of Trustees to build on a strong foundation of trusted services and demonstrable outcomes. You will provide inspiring strategic, financial, and operational leadership to ensure our services remain sustainable, evidence-based, trauma-informed, and responsive to the needs of parents and families from all communities.

We’re looking for a compassionate, visionary leader with proven senior-level experience who can balance day-to-day operational oversight with stakeholder engagement and longer-term strategic thinking.

This is a pivotal moment for our organisation. Senior operational and strategic leadership with at least 3 years’ experience, including successful delivery of public or private sector contracts.

Service growth and development experience, including leading organisational expansion and managing performance, contracts, tenders, and funding or grant applications.

Financial and governance expertise, including budget management, financial oversight, reporting to governing boards, and strong knowledge of governance, compliance, safeguarding, and GDPR.

People leadership, with a track record of managing staff, building high-performing teams, and increasing volunteer involvement.

Stakeholder engagement and networking skills to advance awareness and investment in our mission.

Sector knowledge, including understanding of maternity, mental health and children’s services, and the challenges faced by women and families in the perinatal period, along with the value of timely intervention.

We are seeking a leader of character and conviction, with missional drive, and experience in networking and delivering impact solutions within the Christian sector to take Eido to the next level. There is flexibility in how the role could be shaped, depending on the skills and preferences of the successful candidate.

The CEO is ideally a person of Christian faith to lead team prayer meetings, attend and contribute at Christian conferences, pray with clients, and speak with integrity and authority within the Christian sector.

As Eido transitions from being founder-led, we recognise the importance of establishing a healthy, collaborative relationship between the new CEO and shareholders. After an initial transition period, the shareholders intend to form a board and meet fortnightly with the CEO to review KPIs and offer insight on key decisions. Our goal is to set the new CEO up for success, providing support and accountability, while allowing them space to develop and pursue their own strategies and full autonomy in leading day-to-day operations.

As our Operations & Executive Support Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in keeping the organisation running smoothly. You’ll work at the heart of our Corporate Function, ensuring our systems, people, and processes are efficient and aligned with our mission. There is no line management initially but if the team grows, we will discuss this with you.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll provide both operational leadership and executive support - helping the CEO and wider team stay focused on impact. You’ll also work with our Head of Programmes to ensure coordination across the charity.

This role would suit you if you’re highly organised, proactive, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You might currently be an Operations Officer, Senior Administrator, or Project Manager, ready to step up into a broader, more strategic role.

JOB DETAILS

• Job Title - Operations & Executive Support Manager
• Responsible to - Chief Executive Officer
• Salary - Between £29,500 & £31,000 depending on experience
• Contract - Full-Time (38 hours per week) - From time to time, you may be required to work some evenings and weekends. These are usually communicated well in advance. We expect team members to work from the office at least three days per week, but we offer flexibility to balance this with remote working. This is a one-year fixed-term contract, with the likelihood of renewal subject to funding availability.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

1. Operational Coordination (40%)

• Oversee day-to-day organisational operations, systems, and processes.

• Maintain and improve internal systems & processes (task & project management).

• Manage supplier relationships (insurance, IT, HR, utilities, etc.).

• Support programme quality assurance by collating data and reviewing reports.

• Lead internal projects to improve efficiency and staff experience.

2. Executive Support (25%)

• Provide comprehensive diary management for the CEO and organisation-wide initiatives.

• Prepare briefings, reports, and presentation materials when required.

• Support the CEO with governance papers, communications, and meeting follow-up.

• Represent the CEO in communications with stakeholders as required.

3. People & Culture (20%)

• Coordinate HR administration, recruitment logistics, and onboarding.

• Support the delivery of wellbeing and culture initiatives.

• Plan internal events, training sessions, and away days.

• Maintain accurate staff records and support internal communications.

4. Governance & Strategy Support (15%)

• Prepare and circulate Board and sub-committee papers.

• Maintain organisational policies and compliance registers.

• Monitor progress against operational plans and key performance measures.

• Support internal and external reporting requirements (funders, trustees, etc.).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Essential

• Experience in operations, project management, or executive support.

• Excellent organisation and time management skills.

• Understanding of governance and charity operations.

• Proficiency in digital tools (e.g. Asana, Google Workspace, HR/CRM systems).

ORGANISATIONAL INFORMATION
