About the Department/Role
The Church of England is continually striving to improve its safeguarding practices. The 2020 report by IICSA on the Church highlighted failures in respect of child sexual abuse and, more broadly, the challenges facing the Church to get safeguarding right.
The Church's aspiration is that safeguarding is not experienced and approached as a matter of administrative compliance. Rather, it should be what the Church is - something that flows from its core beliefs and values, part of its DNA.
The Church has made important and positive strides over recent years. There is, however, still much to be done to keep children and vulnerable adults safe, and to promote their well-being. The Church is a complex collection of different bodies. Most of the safeguarding work is carried out locally within the 42 dioceses and cathedrals in England. This work is supported centrally by a National Safeguarding Team (NST).
The NST itself comprises three departments: Casework, Programmes and Administration, and Learning and Development, which provides high-quality safeguarding learning, policy, and guidance to those working, paid or unpaid, licensed or lay, in the Church of England. This role will be pivotal to delivering learning and development.
What you'll be doing
In this vital role, you'll join a dynamic team committed to nurturing high-quality safeguarding practice throughout the Church. You'll work alongside our two National Safeguarding Learning and Development Managers, delivering engaging in-person and online training for senior leaders, diocesan staff, and safeguarding officers.
Main responsibilities
- Deliver national learning events, including SLSP, with a focus on systemic theory and leadership development.
- Facilitate sensitive conversations around safeguarding culture, ensuring a safe and reflective learning environment.
- Evaluate the impact of training, contribute to continuous learning improvements, and support new pathway development.
- Organise and lead professional development programmes for Safeguarding Officers and Trainers.
Key role requirements
- This is a homeworking role; however, this position requires the post holder to frequently travel across England, visiting Dioceses and Cathedrals, including overnight stays and occasional weekend commitments.
- A basic DBS check will be required as part of our pre-employment checks.

Work pattern: £12.75 per hour, minimum of 12 hrs a week. The 12 hours per week are to include the following hours onsite at Share Bristol on the UWE Frenchay campus.

Other hours can be worked flexibly either on or off-site.
Oversee the Share Bristol Frenchay Library of Things, ensuring it meets the needs of the local community, and work in partnership with the rest of the Share Bristol team to ensure the success of our charity and our Library of Things service.
This role is responsible for the day to day running of the Frenchay Library of Things, recruiting and supporting our volunteers, helping us engage with partner organisations, including UWE, managing our Thing donations and inventory, and assisting our current and potential members.
We’re looking for someone to start as soon as practical, and work around 12 hours a week. The working hours will be mainly around when we are open for lending sessions. About the role
We are seeking a Head of Fundraising to develop and drive Iswe’s income generation strategy and grow a high-performing fundraising team.

What will I be doing?

The Landscape Recovery team was set up as a response to the urgency of the inextricably linked nature and climate emergencies. The purpose of this team is to encourage and facilitate cross-Wildlife Trust action on landscape scale recovery, inject the rewilding approaches into the work of the Wildlife Trusts, coordinate land management activities where scale-economies are clear and to substantially increase funding for nature’s recovery across the Wildlife Trusts. The team is developing a range of programmes where RSWT acts as a ‘collective vehicle’ for groups of Trusts. For example, RSWT is leading a programme of peatland restoration through the Precious Peatlands project. Opportunities for such programmes are increasing – the UK is at a tipping point where either wildlife continues to decline or we finally grasp the opportunities of nature’s recovery.
About You
Working closely with colleagues at the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts and with Local Wildlife Trusts, the Land Management Practice Officer will support The Wildlife Trusts Nature Reserves community of practice. This role will focus primarily, in the first instance, on supporting local Wildlife Trusts to reduce their pesticide use.
The post will help Trusts develop and share knowledge, skills and capacity in the realm of pesticide use reduction and, where possible, also across other aspects of land management. This work will support Goal 1 – Nature’s Recovery – of the Wildlife Trusts’ Strategy 2030.
You will be a highly organised, collaborative, and an experienced individual adept at managing customer focussed relationships. You will understand the needs of the Wildlife Trusts and the context in which they operate.
