Background to the role:
Keep Active is a volunteer-delivered project at The Creighton Centre, which aims to provide support to older people (60+) who have had a fall, stroke or other illness. We work in partnership with the NHS Community Rehabilitation Service across Hammersmith & Fulham. As a Keep Active Volunteer you would visit an older person (the average age is 84) once a week for up to nine weeks to help them with improving mobility indoors with exercises, or outdoors with walks in their community. This project aims to empower people to get back to independence, access community once more and reduce risks of future falls and hospital re-admittance.
Availability/commitment:
· To live in or near Hammersmith and Fulham, or travel regularly through
· To be able to spare 1-2 hours a week, preferably during working hours
Role of the Keep Active Volunteer:
· To attend an initial one-off training session [with Volunteer Coordinator and therapists from NHS rehabilitation teams].
· To visit an older person’s home once a week for up to 9 weeks to supervise and motivate them to continue practicing their exercise and walking goals, as prescribed by NHS rehabilitation teams.
· Support might include:
- A walk around their local community possibly going to the park or visiting shops.
- Encouraging them to complete a prescribed gentle exercise program.
- Keeping an older and sometimes isolated person company.
- Visiting someone in their homes to help them reach their exercise goals.
NB: Please note that this is a volunteer role and you will not be expected to provide any physical support. This is a motivational role only.
We will provide:
· Induction training and NHS Community Rehabilitation led training (weekday training).
· Regular contact and support from the project staff.
· Occasional social events for volunteers
· Occasional training opportunities for volunteers
· A reference after 3-6 months of volunteering with us

Our volunteers provide a safe space for people to share what's causing them distress, while showing warmth and compassion.
Tasks and Responsibilities
If your application is successful, you’ll be enrolled in a training group. New groups start every two weeks.
Shout Volunteers receive 25 hours of free training in communication, listening, managing and assessing risk, and problem solving. The training is self-paced and done online. You’ll learn how to bring people in distress to a place of calm and practice skills that will be useful to you throughout life.
As we are investing in you throughout your time with us, our hope is that you will complete the training in a timely manner and look at this as a longer term commitment. The experience you gain over time is valuable and our goal is to have volunteers commit to 200 hours on the platform, which can take up to two years to complete, as we ask you to take one 2-4 hour shift per week.
Our Volunteer Training Support team is here to support you, answer any questions and provide feedback during training and throughout your time with Shout. You’ll be joining an incredibly supportive volunteer community and have access to the resources you need to do your role.
As a volunteer, you’ll be supporting people in distress, so it’s important we see the skills required to do that while you are in training. While most trainees complete the training and go on to volunteer, not everyone will pass the training. If this happens, there are other ways you can still support us.

Are you a proactive fundraiser and looking to support a small charity? What is a Recruitment Coordinator?
Recruitment Coordinators help us find local people interested in supporting SSAFA and take them through our recruitment and selection process.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our beneficiaries come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
To offer the best possible service to our clients we need to match the right volunteers to the right role. Could you spare a few hours a week to help recruit new volunteers and welcome them to SSAFA by supporting them through their induction phase? When would you be needed and where would you be based?
The role is about recruitment and so will involve attending local recruitment fairs a few times a year as well as meeting volunteers both face-to-face and virtually. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but the administration part of the ole can be done form home.
What would you be doing?
- Be the first point of contact for all volunteering enquiries, ensuring that all potential volunteers receive a timely response.
- Supporting volunteers through the recruitment and induction process and ensuring volunteers are communicated with throughout.

Befriending Volunteer
You can make a difference…Age UK Wandsworth is a small, local, independent charity that has been working with older people in the area since 1963. We rely on your support to keep serving the older residents with in the Wamdsworth community. We have a dedicated team of experienced staff and a large network of dedicated local volunteers. Our aim is to enable everyone to age well in Wandsworth. We would love your help to be able to continue to support older Wandsworth residents.
Our Be-a-Friend service is one of our longest running services, matching people over 65, who live alone and have limited social contact, with a friendly local volunteer with similar hobbies and interests. The volunteer and their new friend set up a suitable time for them to meet each week for a chat and a cup of tea, which could be during the day, in the evening on the way home from work or even on the weekends . If you would prefer to volunteer from home, you can also be matched with an older person for telephone befriending. For many of our matched pairs, this is the beginning of a firm friendship.
Befriending Plus
Befriending Plus is an extended version of the Be-a-Friend programme, for individulas needing help with life admin and small tasks as well as companionship. For Befriending Plus pairs, time spent together can include helping to use a phone or tablet, helping the client to organise their file, going out for a coffee or popping to the post office together. This support can help older people to stay independent at home for longer, as well as increasing their confidence to do these tasks when the volunteer is not there.

Our challenge

Main purpose of the role
To provide telephone friendship service to veterans (and their partners) in their own homes.
Key focus

Time commitment

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.
As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. What can you expect to be doing?
As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

We are thrilled to welcome a Finance Lead to support our Operational Director and Fundraising Team at a pivotal time for our charity.
After a challenging period of inactivity due to the impacts of Covid, we are excited to embark on a new chapter, as we are ready to restart our activities in 2025 and to develop our projects and create a positive impact in our community.
This is a unique opportunity for those eager to be part of a project evolving from its early stages to the launching of new initiatives. The volunteer will have ample opportunity to learn about charity structure, develop skills within the third sector and grow with the charity.
We are looking for a passionate and articulate person to fill this role.
What this position entails
We are looking for a dedicated volunteer who can provide long-term support to our charity as we prepare to relaunch our activities after a period of inactivity post-Covid.
The Volunteer Finance Lead will assist the Fundraising team and the Operational Director in creating budgets, clarifying budget limitations, preparing cash flow forecasts, and ensuring the charity has a comprehensive understanding of operational and project costs to help us secure necessary funding.
Ideal candidates should be genuinely passionate about our mission and values, work well in a team, and be able to communicate financial information clearly to those who may not have a finance background.
As a Finance Lead, your main responsibilities will include:
- Give general financial advice for projects, events and activities strategy.
- Take leadership in preparing cash flow forecasts.
- Clarifying budget limitations.
- Take leadership on producing projected budgets, outlining expected income and expenses for specific periods of the charity lifecycle, helping our charity plan our finances and allocate resources.
- Taking on leadership for producing all events/activities/projects budgets and keeping accurate reporting of post-projects income/expenses records and producing reports to the board of trustees.
- Monitoring the financial health of all our projects.
- Produce general quarterly financial reporting to management and the board of trustees, highlighting points of concern.
- Contributing to decisions regarding financial strategy for our projects.
- Understanding and reporting costs for specific areas: internal staff, delivery staff, running activities etc.
- Able to recommend improvements and implement changes on financial processes and procedures, supporting the operational team to have clarity on our financial health.
What do you need to become our Finance Lead?
Essential:
- 3+ plus experience with accounts/finance
- Fully qualified Accountant or relevant financial qualification.
- Highly experienced with budgets and cost management of projects.
- Numerate, accurate individual with strong Excel, Word, and presentation skills
- Professional approach.
- Experience of working with small teams and communicating financial information clearly to those who may not have a finance background.
- Able to work on own initiative with a conscientious approach, always looking to continuously improve processes and be dedicated to the improvement of our charity's financial processes and procedures.

As a volunteer-led charity, we prioritise volunteers who want to become part of our team of volunteers rather than those looking for a temporary assignment. Therefore, we won’t accept applications from volunteers who cannot commit to at least 5-6 months with us.

Volunteer Helpline Advisor – Role Description
Purpose of role:
As a Volunteer Helpline Advisor, responding to Helpline enquiries from parents and carers, you will be playing a part in helping ERIC to achieve its key goal of reaching even more families.
You will work remotely, with equipment and training provided.

Terms:
Due to the nature of the work, our helpline volunteers are continence nurses or qualified healthcare professsionals.Volunteer sessions are a full day of 5 hours, on the same day each week, please note that currently we need more volunteers on Mondays & Tuesdays only. We ask volunteers to commit to this regular weekly pattern, ideally for a period of one year or more. This helps to maintain consistency and a high standard of professional practice.

As a Group Leader, you’ll play a key role in delivering our life-changing therapeutic services by co-facilitating weekly self-help groups. Using a proven model rooted in Exposure-Response Therapy and CBT, you'll help guide members through understanding their conditions and moving toward recovery.
We’ll train you to confidently co-lead sessions with another volunteer. All you need is empathy, warmth, and a genuine desire to support others. Lived experience of anxiety, OCD, or phobias is a bonus, not a must. We ask for a commitment of just 2 hours a week for at least 12 months.

What will you be doing?
Therapeutic Responsibilities
- Co-facilitate therapeutic guided self-help groups every week.
- Interact with relevant service users to arrange their initial attendance at therapeutic groups.
- Consistently work within the scope of your training and recognise the limits of your practice.
- Liaise closely with the organisation's Clinical Director to discuss challenging cases and clinical concerns.
- Inform the Clinical Director of any expected instances of absence two weeks before the event.

- Record service users' attendance every week.
- Maintain service user attendance databases to the highest possible standards of accuracy and detail.
- Disseminate psychometric measures to service users by the organisation's evaluation strategy
- Promote a culture of evaluation amongst service users attending your groups to enhance the amount of individualised feedback available to them.
- Respond to service user enquiries, and organisational communications, in an appropriately timely manner.
- Actively engage in the initial training workshops that are provided by the organisation.
- Maintain a commitment to continual personal development and engage in additional training opportunities when provided.
