JOB PURPOSE
To provide information, advice, support and advocacy work on all forms of gender based violence faced by migrant women, including forced marriage, rape and sexual abuse, honour based crimes and related issues such as immigration/asylum and no recourse to public funds, matrimonial and children, housing and homelessness, mental health and financial matters. Your casework will focus on women with complex needs.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide a professional high-quality VAWG advocacy and outreach service.
2. Undertake casework and advocacy (this will include liaising with relevant professionals and agencies such as solicitors, social workers, police officers etc.)
3. Provide practical support such as accompanying women to appointments and courts, making reports to such agencies or collecting belongings and otherwise taking all necessary steps to ensure the general safety and wellbeing of women and children.
4. Write assessment reports and support letters, and under supervision, help to collect evidence and statements, as well as undertake some basic legal representation.
5. Undertake risk assessments for referral to the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs)
6. Establish links with key partners [local authority, police, health, schools, etc.] to ensure effective referral routes and information sharing protocols.
7. Assist in developing and meeting quality standards in relation to advice and casework. This includes administration and IT systems for advice and casework.
8. Cover the helpline as required.
9. Assist migrant women to access immigration advice, and assist in meeting their housing needs.
10. To undertake campaigning and policy work arising from the advice and casework (this may involve some weekend/evening work)
11. Where necessary to assist staff in organising and running support group activities and consultations for women who are isolated and vulnerable due to their experiences of violence and abuse.
12. To publicise and provide S4S services, and attend, contribute and represent the organisation at relevant local meetings or initiatives.
13. To support and mentor the Women’s Council.
14. Follow S4S policies and procedures, and maintain IT and case file management systems.

Our specialist children's practitioners provide child-led play therapy sessions on a weekly basis, usually for 6-16 weeks. Sessions give children the opportunity to process what has happened to them and make sense of the complicated and confusing emotions they may be experiencing. Our practitioners work from our purpose-designed therapeutic playroom in Colchester or from some of our outreach premises in other areas, using a range of techniques including sand tray, art and imaginative play.
What we expect from our Sessional Counsellors/Play Therapists:
· Support up to eight CARA clients each week
· Maintain and update accurate database records of clients
· Diploma in Counselling or equivalent, with a minimum of 400 counselling hours.
· Certificate in Counselling Children, Play Therapy qualification or equivalent
· Experience of working therapeutically with children with psychological and behavioural problems.
· An understanding of how trauma affects children both physically and emotionally.
· An ability to work creatively to enable children to process their conscious and unconscious emotions.
· An ability to work collaboratively with parents, while protecting children’s confidentiality.
· To liaise with other agencies including social care, Children and Adolescent Mental Health service (CAMHS) and schools, and attend meetings and provide reports, where required.
· Attendance of one CARA Meeting per month and attendance of monthly point of contact meetings.
· Attendance of clinical supervision, provided by a CARA-approved supervisor.
· Attend annual safeguarding training and other relevant training

Overview
The role will provide high-quality administrative, systems, and research support to the Quality Team, enabling consistent quality assurance across the grant-making cycle. The postholder will administer and improve the team’s Salesforce processes and data standards, coordinate key workflows and information management, support the Director of Quality, Quality Assurance Specialist and Impact (MEAL) Coordinator with scheduling and documentation, and deliver defined research tasks and short projects (e.g., into quality assurance approaches, MEAL frameworks, tools and best practice) to strengthen the team’s work.

Pre-Committee Proposal Scrutiny
·Formal review of all project proposals before submission to the projects subcommittee to improve quality by ensuring:

oThe response is proportionate and broadly consistent with other Barnabas Aid projects of a similar nature;
oBeneficiary selection is conducted appropriately and can be justified;

oA proportionate M&E approach is in place;
oPrudent but pragmatic financial arrangements (e.g. split into tranches, use of intermediaries) are adopted and justified.
·In conjunction with regional teams, undertake light editing of proposals to improve clarity and correct inconsistencies and typographical errors.

Post-Committee Follow-up
·Track actions provided by committee to ensure projects fully implement committee decisions (e.g. splitting into tranches, reporting requirements, risk management, etc)
·Draft, for regional team’s approval, project approval/project rejection letters to partners, including all relevant provisions for management of the grants.

·Support the Quality Team to evidence required checks and maintain consistent records across systems and files, raising risks or gaps as appropriate.

About the Role
As Digital Communications Coordinator, you will play an important role in helping Belong communicate its work, impact and ideas to a growing national audience. You will be confident creating content for different audiences, using digital platforms and tools, and working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
