About the Role
 
Reporting to the Head of Operations and supported by 6 team leaders and central reporting and administration support, success in this hands-on leadership role is about how you support, coach and develop our capabilities for the future across a diverse range of services and projects.
 
A hands-on and mobile role you provide leadership and support to the services team leaders in each of our service locations and play a key role in developing and enhancing relationships with commissioners.
 
You will guide and support the teams in managing and improving their services so they run to the best of their ability and meet funder requirements. You will coach and innovate our services delivery, identifying and shaping new opportunities to achieve our mission.
 
You will build strong relationships with commissioners and key stakeholders including contract managers, agencies and other bodies offering support to clients to identify new opportunities.

About the role 

Scripture Union England & Wales (SU) one of the UK’s longest-established children and youth ministry organisations is  working in partnership with Activate, an exciting local sport and wellbeing project, to offer this unique role to reach many more young people in the Bushy Park area and across the South of England through physical activity. 

We’re looking for a creative and entrepreneurial individual with a passion for using sport to help children and young people across the South of England to explore and respond to the good news of Jesus. 

This unique role combines the benefits of direct face-to-face engagement with young people in a local context, delivering mission through sport activities and programmes, while also developing and mentoring others to expand ministry across the South region. About Activate 

Activate is a sport and physical activity-based programme, formed in 2018, seeking to build community through wellbeing that invigorates faith.  Activate seeks to release God’s people to join in his mission through sport and physical activity in the areas surrounding Bushy Park. This includes gathering, encouraging and empowering local Christians involved in sports ministry, including expressions of chaplaincy and missional communities centred around sports clubs, centres, educational settings and gyms.  A number of local churches across denominations and Dioceses have been supporters of the project. 

In the past Activate has supported sports projects in local schools, an activity-based church service, wellbeing cafe sessions, exercise sessions for the elderly and youth activities.  The successful candidate will be involved in re-launching Activate’s mission after a break due to staff changes. 

About your team

With this role, you will have the benefit of being part of a national-focused sports team at SU, as well as the south team with a regional focus and the local context with Activate. You’ll work out of the office of St Peter’s Church, West Molesey, benefiting from the support of a local parish-based team including clergy and youth workers. You’ll contribute your expertise in a variety of settings, ranging from urban and suburban to coastal and rural areas across the south. You’ll have a brilliant time getting acquainted with this rich tapestry of local and national partners. Across the south region, we currently work with 130 churches and have 150 faith guides. In this role, you’ll be part of the small network engagement team, working alongside the volunteering and participation team, in the Communities and Participation directorate.

This role has a communications focus and involves editing a weekly email newsletter and an intranet. You’ll be the first point of contact for local CPRE staff and volunteers with queries about the work of their local charities. You’ll organise and support online meetings and events and be involved with measuring and reporting the effectiveness of our work.

The Communities and Participation team is mainly home-based, so applications are encouraged from remote workers with the expectation of travel to meetings and events approximately twice a month, for which expenses are covered.

About the role

• Lead on establishing and maintaining a ‘single source of the truth’ on arthritis and musculoskeletal statistics and data within the charity and beyond. This includes our annual State of MSK Health statistics report and other statistics publications.
• Support on the development and delivery of a pipeline of insightful MSK and health data analysis and quantitative research, to better understand the UK population with arthritis and MSK conditions and to inform the direction of Versus Arthritis’ ambitions, strategy, policy and services work.
• Work with others, particularly colleagues in UK Advocacy and Health Intelligence, to influence improved quality, extent and use of musculoskeletal health data by statutory bodies across the four UK nations, including Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), National Health Service (NHS), Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), nationally and locally to improve musculoskeletal health nationally.

About the role:  

We are looking for a very confident, outgoing go-getter who loves using their gregarious personality to influence and enthuse people to get results but also enjoys being organised with strong admin processes.
