HOPE not hate is the UK’s leading anti-fascist organisation. Our mission is simple: To monitor and challenge the far right, to engage in the communities that are susceptible to them and to address the issues and policies which give rise to them.
Over the last five years, we have grown steadily, with our research and intelligence work exposing and undermining the far right, even foiling a murder plot, our community engagement providing expertise to vulnerable communities and our work in schools growing to teach young people to recognise and challenge prejudice and hate.
About the role
The Community Outreach Officer will deliver on helping the communities susceptible to the far right. As part of the policy team, they will have access to research and policy insights on the issues which are causing tension and divisions in communities and where these tensions are most acute, and use this to devise locally-led solutions in partnership with key figures in the community and relevant sectors.
They will have experience in community organising, whether through employment or voluntary work, and use this experience to develop an organisational strategy for addressing far-right organising and hate-based community tensions. Part of the strategy will include a plan to extend and deepen HOPE not hate’s existing relationships in key areas across the UK. It will also involve designing and publicising resources, developing and delivering training and writing regular briefings.
Willingness to work with a variety of stakeholders is important. The role will include liaising with local authorities, national and local organisations and grassroots community activists to build and facilitate the design of locally-led community resilience strategies. There will also be access to our existing networks and relationships across relevant sectors e.g. migration and refugee sector, community cohesion and local authorities. An understanding that communities and community groups are the experts on their own needs is crucial – solutions should be developed with, not for, those most impacted.

The Learning Disability Outreach (LDO) project needs a Literacy Tutor to teach people with learning disabilities, helping them to improve their reading and writing skills, to enhance their lives and achieve their aspirations. The teaching will be mostly in a 1-to-1 capacity, or with small groups. You will need some experience of teaching literacy skills and a compassionate attitude.
An interest in gardening and educating people in a small community garden would be a bonus, although not essential.

About the role:
Our Complex Needs Service is seeking a Service Manager, who would like to develop their career with a sector-leading organisation. As our Service Manager, you will provide effective management of a high support accommodation service for single homeless people in Camden. Residents of the service will be faced with multiple disadvantages, mental health, substance use and dual diagnosis.

About you:
- Proven track record and demonstrable expertise in the provision of a Psychologically informed Environment for vulnerable adults with complex needs that incorporates effective strengths and needs assessment, structured planned support, goal setting and advocacy and that is delivered both through structured case work and group work.
- Experience of managing a team, developing the skills and practice of others with the proven ability to motivate and manage a quality service focused on achieving defined outcomes.
- A track record of delivering high quality outcomes for clients working within a strengths and recovery model.
- The ability to plan, monitor and evaluate services, to ensure that they are responsive to the needs of the clients, meet the purpose they have been commissioned for and fulfil the service specification.
- Have strong networking skills and proven ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Preparation of monthly accounts using Quickbooks Intuit (QB) software

Preparation of payroll journals in QB in respect of the UK salaries

Preparation of any other payroll information required, such as P60s.

Access to the bank account to set up payments

Manage relationship with, and payments to, HMRC

Ensure the monthly pension payments are set up and authorised through the NEST pension website.

Review of quarterly payment of funds to Kenya prior to Treasurer review and approval.

Liaise with the external accountants who prepare the unaudited year end accounts.

Assisting UK management and board with other administrative tasks, as required.
This part-time role is 100% working from home, with flexible working hours. The role demands circa 10 hours per week and pay is competitive and dependent on experience.

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. This will include a team of Housing Caseworkers who will carry out assessments and advocacy work with young people under 25 who are fleeing violence and exploitation, in order to move them on successfully into both emergency and long-term housing options. You should be passionate about working with this client group, able to manage a fast-moving caseload, and committed to working collaboratively with a team across multiple services.
Salary: £31,200 - £34,736
