About this key role

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, our Floating Support Caseworker will be expected to provide essential support, advice and advocacy to young people on accommodation-related needs, including homelessness prevention. You will produce support and risk management plans based on assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process, and ensure all monitoring information and evidence is being recorded and collated in line with agreed processes and procedures.

We will also count on you to deliver a holistic support service which will involve providing practical help that includes housing support, attending appointments, ETE guidance, benefits, budgeting, utilities and court attendance. Developing and maintaining relationships with partner agencies, including police, probation, children’s services and local authorities, is also a key aspect of this role, as is ensuring you close cases efficiently and positively.

• Experience of using support plans to enable young people to successfully access and sustain accommodation and support services
• Substantial experience of providing support, advice and advocacy and communicating needs to professionals
• Experience of working as part of a multi-agency team
• The ability to work with people who have multiple and complex needs
•  A knowledge of housing legislation for young people
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written.

You will work closely with individuals to help them access employment and education opportunities, and connect with appropriate services to address mental health needs, financial challenges, and substance or alcohol-related issues.

• To use a range of specialist assessment and personalised support planning tools to engage clients in the assessment and support planning process.
• To work with clients in producing person-centred support plans and ensuring that case reviews are carried out, support plans are implemented and adequate case records are maintained.
• To assess client risk and develop risk management strategies with the client and other relevant services.
• To work with a range of agencies to ensure all clients have access to relevant services including both statutory and non-statutory support.

About the Role

These roles are based in Cumberland North (Carlisle), Cumberland West (Workington) and Westmorland & Furness (Barrow). There is a requirements to travel to meet clients & work across areas as required, with a combination of home and office working.

As a Children and Young People IDVA (CHIDVA), you will play a vital role in providing high quality, end-to-end support to children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse across Cumberland. You will act as the single point of contact for young victims throughout their recovery process, delivering support and interventions in a group setting or one-to-one basis.

You will need: -

You will have a thorough understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on child victim/survivors.

You will understand safety and risk and how it relates to children and have strong communication skills and the confidence and ability to present and educate service users and agency partners on the realities and impacts of domestic abuse in a variety of settings. An ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload is essential.

You will have the skills to provide effective crisis intervention, carry out risk assessments, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. You should have demonstrable experience of working in a similar setting or position.

To be successful in this role you should have good IT skills & thorough safe guarding awareness.

This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. Main Purpose Of The Job:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team in a dual-role capacity, supporting two vital services run in partnership with Homeless Oxfordshire and Connection Support. The role covers both our Step Down provision—designed for individuals discharged from hospital under the Discharge to Assess model—and our service at Mawle Court, which provides temporary accommodation and support for people with complex needs, including those preparing for more independent living or in need of emergency provision. Working as part of a small, dynamic, and enthusiastic team, you will be responsible for delivering a safe and supportive environment across both services. You will lead on the case management of clients with complex needs, working collaboratively with partner agencies to develop and implement holistic, individualised support and move-on plans. Main Areas of Responsibility:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

·To support the community work of Adoption UK Scotland and their kinship services, to provide professionals, parents/carers, children, and young people access to information, resources, and services for kinship communities and to engage with families in their local communities.

·To offer a front-line service, primarily to kinship families based in the East Lothian Community, by supporting delivery and administration for activities and events, including regular support groups delivery, youth and family events. Support of events in other areas in Scotland based on resources and availability.

·To hold and manage kinship care family cases, providing direct family support within service guidelines and delivery model.

·Support planning, organisation of, and attendance at, in person and online events through funded projects and services to bring together kinship families and individuals, enable peer support, build a sense of community and promote an active and supportive Community Network.

·To respond to enquiries received via the Information and Support Service and relevant email inboxes with relevant information and/or signposting.

·To be part of the wider kinship service team within Adoption UK Scotland, working across teams and services.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·Working alongside service leads within the kinship teams, and with the wider community team members to plan and deliver specific events and activities for East Lothian Council Kinship community members, and kinship families in wider areas where resources and availability allows.

·Provide administrative coordination for community groups, including collating event materials, gathering feedback and evaluations for reporting purposes, supporting delivery of events, maintaining records using existing required systems, and responding to enquiries via our Information and Support line and relevant email inboxes.

·To facilitate referral meetings with new kinship carers accessing the East Lothian Kinship Support Service, including initial assessment of need to identify suitable support and signposting requirements

·To hold responsibility for administrative requirements relating to referrals and cases within the East Lothian Kinship Support Service, including setting up new cases and recording service delivery interactions, using existing Adoption UK systems and processes

·To work with colleagues in the Foundations for Families kinship support service to support delivery where time and resources allow, and coordinate activities between services where appropriate.

·To report to line manager and directors in Adoption UK Scotland relating to service delivery, including contributing to monitoring and reporting on activities.

·To work alongside Adoption UK colleagues to develop and improve resources and services for kinship carers

The main purpose of the role is to prepare individuals to move on to independent living in the community. Service users may step down from the intensive support service to high, medium or lower needs before moving into the community. From the outset of an individual's tenancy the focus of the support is on preparing them for their
journey of recovery and independence over an agreed period. 

Our support service is provided 24 hours a day 365 days per year with tailored flexible support delivered in accordance with need. 

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You will bring a strong understanding of recovery principles and approaches, alongside experience supporting individuals with mental health and/or dual diagnosis needs. You will be confident working both independently and as part of a team, including supporting the induction of peer staff and volunteers, and collaborating with statutory services such as the NHS. You will have knowledge of mental health conditions, crisis management, and relevant legislation including Care Programme Approach (CPA) processes, with the ability to support individuals with dignity and respect. You will also demonstrate awareness of health and safety, strong IT, literacy and numeracy skills, and the ability to produce clear written communication. A solid understanding of safeguarding is essential, along with the flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, to meet 24-hour service needs.
