We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual that is keen on impacting lives of vulnerable young people and adults at risk of homelessness in Cheetham Hill, Manchester. The selected candidate will be employed as Night Housing and Support Worker on a full-time (37.5 hours), permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £19,306 (FTE) Per Annum Plus Pension & Other Benefits.

The Night Housing and Support Worker Role:
The selected candidate will be employed as Night Housing and Support Worker on a full-time (37.5 hours), permanent basis.
As a Night Housing and Support Worker, you will join a team of professionals delivering support service to vulnerable homeless female residents in a nine-bed residential project.
You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive environment by ensuring the safety and wellbeing of clients, volunteers and staff in the service at all times.
Key responsibilities of our Night Housing and Support Worker:
- You will hold specific responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of the environment for clients, staff, visitors and volunteers through regular risk assessment, health and safety checks and reporting in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy.
- You will maintain the security of the property and by responding to any breach or identified defect as soon as practicable
- You will support occupants in the resolution of disputes relating to, for example, anti-social behaviour or other occupancy agreement breaches

You will:
- Be interested in working with people with rough sleeping histories or at risk of homelessness sustaining their tenancies.
- Have experience of face to face or customer service work.
- Have an understanding of how to support people to manage and sustain tenancies and engage positively with their local community.
- Have experience of supporting and motivating people to engage with health services, employment, training and education.

The young people they care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties they may have from self-harming, behaviour, and emotional difficulties. Our client's homes are always a hub of activity and energy where the young people can feel safe, and their staff can enjoy coming to work. Your role will involve working with their young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks, shopping, building positive relationships and general life skills. They always encourage their young people and staff to bring their hobbies and knowledge into the home whether this be knitting, fitness, cooking or even singing so there is never a dull moment.
Part of the role will be managing various levels of self-harm using a least restrictive approach, so you will require a high level of resilience and have a caring, compassionate nature. You will also be required to update online care records and complete medication administration. In addition, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in homely environment.
Previous care experience is not essential and full training will be provided. All their staff will be supported to achieve their Level 3 in Adult Care. You will also receive ongoing support and mentoring from their friendly residential and clinical team.

We provide a client-centred recovery based approach tailored to the needs of the individual. The project is unique in its layout of 18 self-contained studios and is soon to provide on-site psychology support to clients.
Lambeth Vulnerable Adults (LVA)
Lambeth Vulnerable Adults (LVA) is a supported housing service across the London Borough of Lambeth. St Mungo’s is an established provider within the borough and you will be joining an experienced and supportive team.
The project supports clients living in shared accommodation across Lambeth providing 100 bed spaces. We provide short term accommodation for up to 24 months, all clients will be supported to identify an appropriate move-on in that time and work within a multi-agency approach to achieve this. Engagement with support in the community and move-on are key focuses for the service.
In these roles you will:
- The role will be varied and reactive.
- It will involve managing a caseload of six clients: carrying out needs assessments, key working using a strengths-based approach and support to maintain housing.
- You will help create an environment in which clients are empowered to build confidence and discover opportunities for positive change.
- Leading and coordinating the support for allocated clients.
- Ensuring referrals are managed in a timely fashion.
- Responding to emerging issues from all clients, contributing to their ongoing support and dealing with incidents.
About you
- You will have a good understanding of the needs of homeless people, an awareness of the complex needs of the Wix’s Lane/LVA client groups
- You are able to work in an empathic and boundaried way with both men and women
- You will have excellent written and oral communication skills enabling you to effectively advocate on behalf of your clients
- You will have experience of working in a lone working environment
- have a strong understanding, or desire to learn about the needs of homeless and vulnerable people, especially those with complex needs.
