The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is the leading welfare charity supporting current and former members of the RAF, their partners and families, providing practical, emotional and financial support, whenever they need us. Part of that is providing help to maintain the homes of our beneficiaries through grants and loans for essential repairs and adaptations. Additionally, the Fund provides bespoke housing to support those exiting the RAF with significant disabilities through our Housing Trust.
We are seeking a compassionate and highly organised individual to provide maternity cover within the Housing team which delivers housing solutions as part of our overall support for the RAF family. Working within a team of welfare executives, you will have responsibility for identifying the needs of beneficiaries, delivering appropriate assistance within delegated spending authority and presenting higher value applications to the Grants Committees of the Fund. In addition to an ability to handle welfare casework, the Housing Executive is involved in the administration of the Fund’s loans and the management of a portfolio of Housing Trust properties, which requires working with beneficiaries, solicitors, surveyors, and occupational therapists to ensure that our properties are well maintained.
The successful candidate will need to have relevant welfare experience and preferably some experience of property management, although relevant training will be provided. An articulate communicator with IT skills suited to working in a paperless environment, you must be able to demonstrate an ability to relate to people of all ages, especially vulnerable beneficiaries, in a manner which is conducive to relieving stresses and concerns through holistic consideration and delivery of welfare solutions.

HOUSING OFFICER, HOUSING MANAGEMENT SERVICE, NOTTINGHAM, PERMANENT, 37 HPW, FRWK12 £26,253 - £28,824
We are looking to recruit a Housing Officer to take responsibility for the landlord functions of a number of properties within our Housing Management Service. For this role, the successful candidate must hold a full driving licence, have use of a car and be prepared to cover a geographical area within the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire area.
The post holder will provide an effective, customer focused service to tenants, particularly focusing on dealing with: Anti-social behaviour and tenancy management, improving income, ensuring properties are maintained to a good standard, dealing with housing related court action, working closely with support providers to prevent eviction, and engaging with local communities including the Police, ASB teams and neighbours.
The successful candidate needs experience of working in a housing management role and should ideally be able to demonstrate the following:
- A proven track record of dealing with allocations, sign ups and ending of tenancies
- Experience of carrying out property inspections
- Experience of managing tenancies, in relation to when they are breached and enforcing their terms
- An understanding of housing law and the landlord/tenant relationship
- An understanding of some of the issues faced by vulnerable people and knowledge of agencies who can help address those issues
- Experience of working with support providers in an accommodation setting
- A qualification in Housing Management or similar level 4 (or a willingness to obtain one with Framework support)

Job purpose
The Young People’s Supported Accommodation (YPSA) Manager is responsible for ensuring that progression coaches provide an exceptional standard of coaching and youth work support to young people - within both their homes and community settings.
We have ambitious targets for young people’s outcomes and the YPSA Manager will be driven to make our vision of YPSA residents growing to see themselves, and be seen as, future change makers a reality.
Managing relationships expertly, with a wide range of stakeholders (in particular housing partner Response) the manager will seek out the best opportunities for young people and ensure they are taken up.
Youth work principles of reflective practice, active listening and co-design will drive your work ethic. The Oxfordshire Youth YPSA team takes a youth work approach. This means you will ensure:
1. Your team listen to, and are led by, the needs, ambitions and assets of the young person
2. Staff support young people as they acquire the skills needed to design their roadmap to personal growth
3. Your team are reliable, consistent and aspirational role models who clearly define and adhere to professional boundaries.
All YPSA team members receive high quality training ensuring they are upskilled to take their part in building an excellent service. YPSA managers attend up-to-date training in emotional literacy, emotional regulation, physical wellbeing, financial empowerment, creativity and group skills.
Key responsibilities and main duties
The YPSA Manager will:
- Ensure young people’s voices are heard and valued.
- Take overall responsibility for ensuring that young people’s individual pathway plans are in place, reflect assessed needs and aspirations, and are implemented, regularly reviewed and updated to reflect day-to-day changes.
- Provide leadership and model high quality management skills to progression coaches, night and weekend workers through regular supervision and group reflective practice.
- Support your team to ensure that individual young people’s needs and aspirations are assessed appropriately and sufficient resources available to meet them. This includes planning and leading thorough and robust induction programmes involving probation meetings, training and performance assessments.
- Establish, maintain, and ensure that robust safeguarding practices for young people and staff are in place and regularly reviewed in line with policy change and Oxfordshire Safeguarding Children Board (OSCB) guidance.
- Ensure risk assessments are routinely updated, audited and monitored via case management
- Managers will be required to be on call for emergencies on a rota basis.
- Ensure the delivery of evidence-based interventions and, where appropriate, develop these in partnership with other service providers.
- Ensure young people’s pathway plans and risk assessments are routinely updated and information shared with relevant stakeholders.

This is a great opportunity to work on the new Moving on Up project within the Employability Team. Moving on Up is funded by Public Health funding and overseen by East Sussex County Council. SCDA is a lead partner in this project.
You will raise awareness of Moving on Up in the rental housing market, promote the merits of the programme to private landlords and letting agencies, and recommend participants for private rented accommodation. Challenging the stigma of renting to people living in homelessness accommodation you will disseminate facts and dispel myths about homelessness, and help SCDA capitalise on and spend the Moving on Up rental incentive to deliver accommodation outcomes.
Liaising with Housing Officers local authority PRS leads in relation to individual participants to identify suitable housing options through their PRS landlord contacts, social housing pathways and any rented property stock; you will work closely with mentors and participant support workers to maximise opportunities for accessing long term housing, and to ensure a coordinated approach to finding and securing a tenancy for them.
You will arrange and book viewings with landlords on behalf of participants, review contracts (tenancy agreements) and ensure sustainable tenancies through a system of checks and landlord assurances. Building and maintaining effective working relationships with rental agencies, organisations and relevant professionals you will identify appropriate housing for those eligible for the project
With a Minimum 2 years’ experience working in housing in a local authority, housing advice service, or lettings negotiation, you will have Knowledge of the social housing system and Private Rented Sector
·Evidence of providing housing support within a residential or commercial setting
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills

We are searching for a Night Housing and Support Worker (PT) to join our team in Cheetham Hill. We are currently developing and expanding the work that we do with young people to prevent homelessness. The Night Housing and Support Worker (PT) Role:
The selected candidate will be employed as Night Housing and Support Worker on a part-time (12.5 hours), permanent basis.
As a part-time Night Housing and Support Worker, you will join a team of professionals delivering support service to vulnerable homeless female residents in a nine-bed residential project.
You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive environment by ensuring the safety and wellbeing of clients, volunteers and staff in the service at all times.

- You will hold specific responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of the environment for clients, staff, visitors and volunteers through regular risk assessment, health and safety checks and reporting in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy.

Job Purpose:
To support the delivery of property based Crisis, Empower and Home projects through the provision of housing management functions into the existing and growing organisational property portfolio. Working with colleagues in the Housing Management Team, you will ensure health and safety obligations are met, the properties are suitably decorated and furnished, repairs and maintenance is scheduled as required, rents and service charges accounts are monitored and managed effectively, and voids are filled in accordance with the organisational policies and procedures and undertake other housing related tasks as required.
The existing property portfolio consists of 66 properties; owned, leased by, and used as a result of Management Agreements, by Oasis Community Housing Crisis Services, Home, Empower, and let on the open market. Properties have a variety of purposes, and residents.
You will be qualified to NVQ2 or equivalent in a relevant subject and have experience as a supported housing worker and/or housing worker to including experience of health and safety, arrears management, working as part of a team, and safeguarding. An understanding of the benefits system is also required. Prior experience and oversight of a portfolio of properties and housing management responsibilities are essential for this role.
