Job Title: Deputy Service Manager
Location: This is a woman only residential site, located in Brixton (South-East London) and benefits from great transport links, including convenient access to nearby train services. Kindly be aware that step free access is not available at this service.
Salary: £30,600
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a rota varying 08:00 - 16:00 and 09:00 - 17:00, you may need to work outside these hours, including bank holidays as per service requirements. You will also take part in our out of hours on call rota for managers.
Please note, due to the nature of the service, it is an occupational requirement that the post holder is female and the post is therefore exempt from the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 in terms of Schedule 9, Part 1, and Paragraph 1 of the Act.
About the role
We are looking for Deputy Service Manager to join OPD HASS Women Service. HerStory House is dedicated to empowering women with the skills needed to thrive in their chosen communities, maintain independence, and build a hopeful future. Our specialised, high-support, female-only residential service is tailored for women who are likely to meet the criteria for a personality disorder diagnosis and are at risk of entering or re-entering the Criminal Justice System.
You will provide line management and leadership to the team so they feel empowered to be productive and perform well within their roles to a high standard, ensuring service quality and continuous improvement. We’re looking for someone compassionate and experienced in understanding the criminal justice system and offender personality disorder, someone who brings empathy, tailored support and real dedication to help each resident thrive. The role includes:
- Line Management and Leadership, supporting your team providing advice, guidance and support throughout their employment lifecycle
- Support the Service Manager in leading the day to day operational delivery of the service
- Risk Management ownership, ensuring processes and policies are followed
- Property and Housing Management, ensuring the accommodation meets our requirements, and repairs and maintenance are regularly reported and completed
- Financial Management, including petty cash and budget management
- Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required.

This is an essential role where you will lead on change delivery, supporting across the function to coordinate the early piloting of changes, to deliver the maximum benefits and learning, continuing to evolve the department set up.
What will I be doing?
Play a key role in supporting the building of, and day to day management of, the interim roadmap of tech enabled change for the M&D function, whilst the new structure is set up.
Lead in identifying opportunities to improve our marketing outputs or culture/ways of working, looking to enable a shift to more digital, automated and personalised marketing.
Accountable for documenting and managing new ways of working across M&D that support the continuous change over the next 3 years, including establishing an early piloting process across all tech enable change areas.
Identify stakeholders and ensure effective engagement and collaboration throughout the duration of the project.
Manage escalations appropriately to ensure decisions are made by the appropriate representatives based on evidence, considering risks, costs, benefits, and options.
In collaboration with the Personalisation 1 Project Manager, identify and plan resource needs, governance, and structure to support delivery, adapting as the project moves from design to delivery, and into post go live activity.
Work closely with business change managers to link in with internal comms partners and ensure programme updates are incorporated into the internal comms plan.
Put our audiences and supporters at the heart of all projects and activity, ensuring supporter insight and experience is prioritised in project.

About the role
This is a great chance to be a part of a service working alongside the Healthcare & Education Department within HMP Bronzefield to identify and support women who are identified as being neurodiverse or presenting with symptoms of neurodiversity and will be returning to the community. The Neurodiversity Lead will focus support on women with a neurodivergent need and improve their transition into the community, with ongoing community support; including collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop their support plans.
The Lead will work in a multi-disciplinary way, including attending the weekly complex case meeting and/or the Safety Intervention Meeting (SIM) as appropriate, they will act as a specialist member of the wider Advance Criminal Justice Service - London team, to facilitate a pathway for women with complex needs including mental health and neurodiversity needs. The Neurodiversity Lead will accept referrals from the Advance Criminal Justice Community team and prison services, and will create a link between prison and the community, helping women to navigate support services and to positively re-integrate into their community upon release. They will co-design a person-centred support and action plan with women accessing support, enabling to support them to address their needs and any risks. The role will combine a casework- based approach, along with a signposting and advice service for the women.
The Neurodiversity Lead will be based in the community and will provide a drop-in service (1-2 day per week) in HMP Bronzefield to support women who are close to release.
A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential
About You
To be successful as the Neurodiversity Lead you will need the below experience and skills:
An excellent understanding of mental health, neurodiversity needs violence against women and girls and its links to women in the criminal justice system
You will have the ability to complete trauma informed, support and action plans in collaboration with the woman; to support in addressing their multiple and individual needs and enable them to engage with services, which will result in timely and prescribed outcomes being achieved.
You will possess excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work in a prison environment whilst remaining calm.

The MA, alongside a number of partners, are working to expand and develop how we support mathematics education. Central to this is the joint development of a new association that will bring together people from across the whole mathematics education community.
To help us achieve this, we are looking for an experienced and empathetic Operations & Change Manager to lead the successful integration of two office locations and staff teams within our association. This is a key short-term role, supporting both the practical and people aspects of the merger, ensuring minimal disruption to services and a smooth transition for staff and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in change management or organisational development, ideally within the voluntary or public sector, and a passion for values-led leadership.

Project Management & Planning

Develop and deliver a clear, time-bound transition plan for the merger of two offices and their staff teams, which total around 10 staff.

About the role:
We are looking for a very confident, outgoing go-getter who loves using their gregarious personality to influence and enthuse people to get results but also enjoys being organised with strong admin processes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has been involved in influencing organisations, businesses and groups or individuals to sign up to our range of challenge events, such as marathons etc. You will be a part of a small but dynamic marketing and fundraising team and working with another Events and Engagement Officer colleague (who works 2 days a week), you both will be focusing mainly on filling and retaining places for our challenge events.
This is a critical role for generating essential funds for the charity. You will love a challenge and be goal orientated. It is a varied role, and you will be someone who loves to multitask; you may be emailing supporters or potential fundraisers, making action plans, promoting, contacting organisations, or attending and speaking at events. You will thrive in this role if you love being organised and doing admin, but love being “out and about” interacting, influencing and motivating people to sign up to participate in challenge events and fundraise for us. Please note that you will need to carry, load up and set-up event materials from our office to events, often on your own. It is essential you have access to transport and must have a full, clean driving licence. We are a very small team, so you will need to have the confidence and willingness to meet with organisations and attend events on your own.

Job Title: Teaching and Assessment Research Specialist

Salary: up to £39,500 per annum

The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a postgraduate-level researcher who wishes to combine their expertise in education research and astute understanding of real-life classroom practice. While the role will sit within the Chartered College of Teaching, the postholder will also receive mentoring from Professor Bill Lucas, Professor of Learning and Director of the Centre for Real-Life Learning at the University of Winchester, providing a rare opportunity to combine academically rigorous research with real-life application. As part of a project funded by the Comino Foundation, the Teaching and Assessment Research Specialist will help to increase teachers’ assessment literacy by managing a portfolio of assessment-themed online events, developing a suite of assessment-themed resources, co-ordinating the work of the Next Generation Assessment group and developing an overview of evidence-informed teaching and assessment strategies and how they link to intended student outcomes, based on a series of rapid evidence reviews.
Over the course of the assignment, you will support the Head of Research and Policy and work closely with the Research Lead and the Events and Engagement Manager to create and manage an engaging portfolio of online, assessment-themed events and resources.
This would be an ideal opportunity for anyone with proven expertise in and understanding of the links between evidence-informed teaching and assessment approaches and how they link to desired learning outcomes. You will:
- rapidly review evidence of assessment methods and pedagogies designed to cultivate knowledge, skills and dispositions of pupils, identifying gaps
- with support, produce evidence synthesis for a small number of key methods, not currently widely used by teachers
- manage a portfolio of online events aimed at developing teachers’ and school leaders’ levels of assessment literacy
- co-ordinate the work of the Next Generation Assessment group

The postholder will also be required to collate policy announcements around assessment and monitor any developments relating to the use of EdTech and AI for assessment. The ultimate aim of this work is to help illustrate that the common ‘trad’ versus ‘prog’ debates that still dominate many discussions in education are ultimately unhelpful and teachers need a wide range of different teaching approaches to help support a range of intended learning outcomes. We are looking for a for a Volunteer Development Officer to be involved in supporting on and developing the volunteer peer champions for our gang prevention work as well as supporting aspects of the Befriending service to ensure that the organisation reaches and supports as many families as possible. You will provide and support the Team Leader on the coordination, training, recruitment and management of volunteers.as ensuring there is a continual bank of active volunteers,
You will also be responsible for supporting the delivery of volunteer training and providing one-to-one support and group supervision as appropriate. In addition, the role will include matching volunteers to families, keeping accurate records and completing reports
You will need to have experience of volunteer recruitment and training as well as experience of managing volunteers and have knowledge of the role of volunteers in community projects. You will also have the ability to use your own initiative and have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Level 3 qualification in health and social care, children and young people's workforce or other equivalent qualification is essential. Comprehensive knowledge of local agencies, networks and partnerships within the area and commitment to ensuring equal opportunities and diversity and the values, aims and objectives of Family Lives are also essential.
