Job Purpose
This role plays a key part in the delivery of Operation Smile UK’s retention programme, generating income and retaining existing cash and regular giving donors. Brent Mencap has been passionate about a healthier and fairer Brent since 1979. We’ve developed and run successful housing, employment, health, advice, wellbeing and self-advocacy services. During austerity and Covid we diversified, successfully taking on NHS work with people with long-term health conditions. We provide social prescribing support and health and wellbeing coaching to patients for Brent GPs. In 2024-25 we helped over 18000 people. We’re a leading partner on the Brent Health Educators Programme.
Our income has substantially increased from £382k in 19/20 to £1.71 million in 23-24. We’ve had to adapt quickly, developing and retaining a much larger staff group, using our data better and improving our marketing.
Brent Mencap offers fantastic free creative and wellbeing activities for people with a learning disability, autism and long-term health conditions. These have flourished since Covid. People love yoga, poetry, singing, gardening, Breathe and Move, self-advocacy, campaigning, awareness raising, CREATE art activities for young people, external trips and parties. Small grants, donations and our reserves fund this while we get longer term funding. Our self-advocates want us to focus on paid employment, youth services and making Brent Council use accessible information properly.
Our current finance manager has been pivotal to Brent Mencap’s recent growth, adapting to paying more people, dealing with complicated invoices, making sure we get paid promptly, being as diligent about a project budget worth 5k as our overall budget and supportive with staff wage queries. Location: You can be based near one of the following office locations - Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, or Newcastle.
We operate a hybrid model of work i.e. a combination of in-person and remote, with flexible days in the office depending on business need and your preferences. We would typically expect in-office attendance an average of one day per week.
Your office is where you will usually attend in-person events, training sessions etc. though some travel, to other offices and other locations, will occasionally be expected.
Hours: We are looking for the right candidate and while we envisage this being a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) we are very open to flexible working arrangements such as part-time, compressed hours and/or flexitime.

Purpose of the Role: As a key leader within our Partnerships and Income Development team, you will be responsible for driving sustainable income growth through high-impact, strategic and philanthropic partnerships with trusts, foundations and corporate partners.
Reporting to the Head of Partnerships and Income Development, you will lead the stewardship and growth of existing strategic partnerships, including managing a select portfolio of funders. You will also take a proactive approach to identifying, cultivating and securing new funding opportunities to align with income targets and the charity’s strategy.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the charity, you will craft compelling cases for support – placing young people’s voices and experiences at the heart of every proposal. In addition, you’ll help to build and nurture our supporter community through initiatives such as payroll giving, individual giving and corporate community fundraising.
We’re looking for a dynamic, determined and strategic thinker, who is passionate about building partnerships that make a big difference. You’ll bring energy, creativity, and a big-picture mindset to forge meaningful relationships that create lasting impact.

Person Specification (Knowledge, skills and experience required)
Fundraising experience
- Demonstrable experience of working in a fundraising role in a charity or similar non-profit organisation
- Demonstrable experience of stewarding high value partnerships with trusts and foundations and/or corporates
- Demonstrable experience of writing funding proposals/bids/grant applications and pitching for funding opportunities
Fundraising knowledge
- Knowledge of fundraising techniques such as prospecting, cultivating, securing and managing partnerships
- Understanding of good practice in fundraising, including data protection and donor stewardship
- Understanding of budget creation and income reporting
IT skills
- Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Excel functions
- Experience of using or understanding of using CRM software to effectively support fundraising e.g. Salesforce

Role Summary
The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) is looking for a Senior Manager - Network to support our mission to help every young person find their best next step. You will ensure consistent high-quality delivery and support for all Careers Hubs across the country.
You will play a key role in delivering CEC’s current and future ambitions through our network of Careers Hubs, including the government’s ambition for a new work experience guarantee to ensure that all pupils participate in 2 weeks’ worth of work experience by the time they leave year 11. Careers Hubs will be a key coordinating and delivery mechanism for this guarantee.
You will balance national intent with local priorities, ensuring national government agenda is delivered upon through the lens of place and devolution. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across Strategic and Local Authorities who we partner with in the delivery of careers education through Careers Hubs.
Reporting to the Associate Head of Network Development, with a team of 8 Area Managers, you will provide a central point of accountability, senior stakeholder management and operational support to Area Managers.

The role will work closely with the Director of Research Services and Head of Governance to support the Boards and Committees through the provision of high-level secretariat support (including for scientific meetings) and project management support where you will also lead on identifying and driving improved ways of working.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing annual meeting business planners in consultation with Board and Committee Chairs.
- Scheduling meeting dates and overseeing pattern of governance meetings working with line managers
- Preparing meeting agendas

This is a hybrid full-time role (typically 2 days on-site), 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday based in SW London with occasional travel to another office (around once a month). The other office is about 20 minutes from Clapham or London Bridge.

About you
My client requires someone who has the experience of supporting senior management on governance and organisational matters, ideally in a science-based working environment as you will be taking minutes from science meetings, so could prove challenging without that understanding.
You will need to be a confident minute taker and offer previous governance and committee support experience.
To work for this world-leading organisation, you will be to have good interpersonal skills and have good written communication to be able to draft accurate and succinct emails and papers.
Strong IT skills required; Microsoft Office
