After an initial transition period, the shareholders intend to form a board and meet fortnightly with the CEO to review KPIs and offer insight on key decisions. The role of Retail Development Manager is crucial to the income growth and audience reach of The Children’s Trust retail function. The postholder will be responsible for researching, developing and establishing new income streams to reach new audiences and drive footfall for a disperse network of charity shops, including establishing the online selling of donated and bought in (New) goods; management of online and digital selling platforms and associated stakeholders, ensuring that all compliance requirements are fulfilled.

The role will work collaboratively as part of the Retail Management Team to develop and deliver long-term growth plans to drive voluntary income growth and increase footfall and to lead on new business initiatives.

Role Requirements

• Research opportunities to recommend, test and rollout new online and digital selling platforms. Introduce associated systems and processes to achieve compliance.
• Working with the Retail Sales Manager, identify and source donated product lines and items for listing and selling through online and digital selling platforms. Share learnings to source quality stock to drive sales.
• Create a new online offer to complement and integrate within our existing retail portfolio of shops across Surrey, Sussex and Kent. Develop processes to manage online and digital selling: inventory, listing, pick, pack and despatch of online stock, including organising the logistics for deliveries to customers and collections to meet both shops and customer requirements.
• Manage the development and optimisation of online and digital selling platforms and make recommendations for rapid growth and new business proposals.
• Work with the Retail Sales Manager and Marketing and Communications team to create assets and content that can be used in store, online, through owned channels to maximise opportunities, sales promotions and seasonal changes across the chain of shops.
• Research and implement efficiencies in reducing waste disposal costs for shops estate including items no longer purchased through Rag merchants.
• Research and recommend new income streams for the sale of unsold donated items to mitigate low return through Rag merchants.
• Manage full compliance of the Children’s Trust online and digital selling platforms in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Fire safety, Trading Standards, Retail Gift Aid, GDPR, ThankQ CRM, Risk Assessments, Safeguarding and all other legal or statutory requirements.
• Develop and manage risk assessments and associated online selling policy protocols to prevent reputational damage to The Children’s Trust through digital and online trading activities.
• Manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships including supplier contracts, internal support teams, ensuring that efficient and compliant services are maintained.
• Working with Marketing and Communications and Supporter Care colleagues to ensure that the retail supporter journey is optimised and relationships are managed holistically.r

This is an opportunity to run engaging and informative activities for young people aged 14-18 in the Lambeth area, inspiring them to reach their potential and to make a real difference to their community. The successful candidate will be responsible for running these sessions weekly, managing session staff, delivering engaging activities, attending occasional day trips, as well as responding to and reporting any safeguarding concerns. 

Key responsibilities will include: 

1. To lead the delivery of youth sessions at Knights Youth Centre (KYC) and facilitate youth provision in line with the ethos, values and vision of Oasis. 
2. To work and engage with young people (aged 14-18), by delivering planned sessions, activities and occasional trips.   
3. Deliver informal education opportunities and small group mentoring within the identified sessions and the wider community. 
4. To manage and coordinate KYC staff members whilst leading sessions.
5. Record all activity on our data management system. 
6. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people you come into contact with. 
7. Actively engage in the learning and professional development courses provided as part of this employment.

The successful post holder must have:

· Proven experience in leading youth work provision for young people aged 14-18.

· Experience of managing staff in a youth provision setting.

· An understanding of the challenges impacting young people in Lambeth – in particular education, employment, mental health and criminal exploitation.

· Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.

· Knowledge of safeguarding practices and experience working with young people in challenging environments.

About Children Not Numbers 

The conflict in Gaza has left thousands of children in urgent need of medical care, trauma support, and long-term assistance. Children Not Numbers is a grassroots UK-based charity committed to the health, safety, education, and wellbeing of Gaza’s children. 

Children Not Numbers (CNN) was established in early 2024 to address the urgent need to support Palestinian children caught up amid an unprecedented conflict. Within 18 months, we have grown rapidly into a global network of c.200 committed contractors and volunteers: 

Our work includes: 

• Emergency medical aid for sick and injured children in Gaza, delivered through collaboration between local staff and an international network of volunteer medics 

• Short-term medical evacuation for urgent and complex cases – more than 230 children have been safely evacuated to date 

• Rehabilitation and trauma support for children with life-changing injuries and extreme psychological trauma 

• Maternal Support Programme – over 500 women supported across 1,100+ appointments 

• Education and Empowerment Programme, currently supporting 300 children in Gaza with academic and psychological care 

• International advocacy, including engagement with the UN, European Commission, UK government and other international bodies 

About the role 

This is a key position within a growing organisation, offering the opportunity to shape and strengthen risk and compliance systems that underpin CNN’s humanitarian work. 

As Risk & Compliance Manager, you will: 

• Lead on organisational risk and compliance, ensuring CNN operates with transparency, integrity, and accountability. 

• Oversee risk management frameworks, compliance reviews, due diligence processes, and internal policies. 

• Provide assurance to Directors, Trustees, and donors that CNN meets all relevant regulations, ethical standards, and donor requirements. 

• Support colleagues across all teams to embed a culture of compliance, safeguarding, and ethical practice. 

You will report to the Director and work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Trustees.

About you 

We are seeking an experienced and proactive professional with a strong understanding of risk and compliance within the charity or NGO sector. 

You will bring: 

• Strong experience in compliance, risk management, or audit in a charity, NGO, or similar setting. 

• Proven experience managing risk registers, due diligence processes, and compliance reviews. 

• Strong knowledge of UK charity law, donor compliance, safeguarding, GDPR, and anti-fraud/anti-bribery frameworks. 

• Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills. 

• A collaborative approach and confidence in advising senior leaders and trustees. 

A professional compliance or risk qualification (e.g. ICA, IRM) would be desirable.
