Job description

The Head of Individual Giving will be responsible for the strategic development of the NT’s individual giving programmes. This includes the overall management of memberships (£84 - £600), Patron programmes (£1,500 - £12,000), audience appeals, legacies, and special events.

The post holder will manage a team of seven ambitious fundraisers and actively solicit gifts themselves, often working with volunteers, to generate in excess of £5m p.a. from individual donors. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the visibility and success of the National Theatre’s public fundraising and will create a strategy for delivering ambitious growth in this area.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • Successful and personal fundraising track record in securing five-figure gifts from individuals
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience of writing powerful copy
  • Demonstrable experience of budget setting and monitoring
  • Experience of staff recruitment, management and appraising
  • A track record in identifying and maintaining senior level internal and external relationships
  • Knowledge of Gift Aid and other tax effective giving mechanisms
