The Capital Project Manager will be responsible for leading a £4-5M project that will build a new Cattery facility at our Battersea Old Windsor site. The role will oversee all aspects of the project to ensure the capital project is completed on time, within budget and to the required standards and design. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative individual to establish and lead a community engagement and volunteer programme in an important new visitor attraction in the heart of London. Bevis Marks Synagogue dates back to 1701 and is the oldest synagogue in the UK. You will recruit, motivate and support a team of volunteers and develop a dynamic community engagement programme as part of a small, dedicated team at this special, historic site.

In 2019, Bevis Marks Synagogue received a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant to restore the synagogue and create The Dangoor Heritage Centre. This project displays and interprets the synagogue’s historic collection for the first time, and enhances visitor facilities. The S&P Sephardi Community established the Bevis Marks Synagogue Heritage Foundation (BMSHF) to manage this project and the site's ongoing visitor operations. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic heritage engagement professional to help make Bevis Marks Synagogue a vibrant place of worship that shares its unique story with a wider community of people of all faiths and none.

Bevis Marks Synagogue, completed in 1701, is the oldest synagogue in the UK and the oldest in continuous use in Europe. Its Grade I listed Wren-style design, well-preserved interior and fittings make it exceptionally historically significant. It is still a working synagogue with a community that has been engaged in the development of the new Dangoor Heritage Centre.

The S&P Sephardi Community’s collection of objects, rich archive, and intangible heritage, such as music and traditions, offer a continuous record of Jewish life in Britain since the mid-seventeenth century. The collection is mainly silver and textiles and many items are of national significance, providing rare insights into the practice of Sephardi Jewish worship, and London’s changing fashions and craftsmanship.

Visitors will be welcomed by volunteers and will explore the synagogue and Dangoor Heritage Centre with the help of an audio guide which includes insightful contributions from a number of members of the Bevis Marks community who have participated in the project. Volunteers will also engage visitors throughout the exhibition areas and support our events programme, shop and catering offer and provide a friendly welcoming experience for a wide range of visitors, from within the UK and abroad.

The construction project is set to be completed by early summer 2025, with the exhibition fit-out over the summer and opening is anticipated in autumn 2025.

Hours: 37 hours a week. Two Sundays per month will be required, along with evening and Bank Holiday working as required by the needs of the business.

We are looking to recruit a new Fundraising Coordinator who believes in our vision that there should be “No Street Called Home” for children living on the streets in Uganda and who wants to help us to grow this impact and further change children’s lives.

Reporting to: Development Manager

Location: Remote

Working Hours: Part-time, 2.5 days per week (working days are flexible)

Salary: £27,000 pro rata (based on a full-time equivalent 37.5 hour week)

Contract Length: One year, fixed term (with the potential to extend based on available funding)

This is a 2.5 day a week role which would be perfect for someone looking for a flexible job that makes a big social justice impact. This would suit someone with family responsibilities or who is studying a part time masters course for example, who needs a job role that fits in around their other commitments. You could work it full time over 2.5 days or part time over 4 or 5 days a week.

You will be joining a wonderful team in the UK and Uganda. We currently have two paid staff (based in London and Bournemouth) and a variety of volunteers in the UK, plus a team of 26 staff in Uganda. Your views will be valued and you will get the chance to work together within our team to problem solve and suggest ideas to improve our programmes at every step of the way.

Job Purpose

• To support the Development Manager in securing appropriate funding for the organisation
• To support the Development Manager in managing fundraising partnerships
• To support the administrative functioning of the organisation
• To work collaboratively with, and offer support to, the rest of the UK team, to best meet S.A.L.V.E.’s aims and objectives.
• To work with the S.A.L.V.E. team as required, developing and improving our existing programmes of work to best benefit our service users.
• To raise awareness of the work of S.A.L.V.E. International and be an ambassador for us in the community.

Key Activities

The following activities are intended as a guide to the main responsibilities of the post and are not an exhaustive list of duties and tasks. To carry out these activities you will be working together with and given support by the Development Manager.  The post-holder may be required to undertake other duties that are not listed below, at the direction of their manager.  The job description may be amended from time to time after consultation with the post holder.

• Researching and writing funding applications to Trusts, Foundations and Corporate CSR programmes, in order to secure funding for new programmes or projects
• Writing funding reports, to fulfil obligations to funders
• Building strong relationships with funders and partners, to secure long-term, sustainable funding and identify new funding opportunities
• Leading on the design and delivery of the organisations Community Fundraising strategy
• Supporting the CEO and Development Manager with admin tasks, to ensure the effective functioning of the organisation.
• Working with the S.A.L.V.E. team to deliver on our strategic plan. Contribute to its review and improvements over time to maximise the organisation’s impact with our service users through regular evaluation and learning reviews where required.

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

• Educated to degree level or above or at least three years’ work experience
• Demonstrable fundraising work experience: minimum two years, ideally with experience of trust fundraising.
• Strong relationship-building and networking skills, with the ability to engage donors, corporate partners, and stakeholders effectively.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify funding opportunities and assess their suitability
• Excellent IT Skills including a wide range of software packages such as Excel, Word etc
• Experience of using design software packages such as Canva (preferrable)
• Experience using a CRM for donor management (Beacon preferred)

Desirable:

• Knowledge of Uganda and its culture, particularly if you have spent time there.
• Knowledge of international development, homelessness, social entrepreneurship, social work and/or addiction.

Supporting the team to identify, engage and provide harm minimisation whilst promoting a sense of belonging. Summary of the position

Epic is looking for a Development Manager to support the activities of the UK Development Team to help us ‘make giving the norm’.

The Development Manager will work with the UK Director in our small team in the UK, as well as working closely with colleagues in Paris and Brussels. 

This position offers candidates the opportunity to develop their skills across a range of fundraising disciplines including corporate fundraising, major donor engagement, events, and philanthropy. 

This position will work with a deeply engaged team in an international environment. Given the versatile nature of the responsibilities and the small team size, candidates will need to show demonstrable flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to take ownership and work independently.

Key Responsibilities :

With support from the UK Director, the Development Manager will work collaboratively with the Director and wider UK team and Development colleagues in Paris and Brussels to execute the fundraising strategy in the UK. The Development Manager is a key role in a small team, and will contribute new ideas, networks and results to help us meet our income targets and therefore create more positive impact for children and young people globally. More specifically, the key responsibilities of this role are outlined below.

1. Business Development (65%)

• Lead prospect research and outreach efforts to expand Epic’s prospect donor pool in the UK: monitor the fundraising ecosystem, conduct in-depth prospect research and engage in proactive outreach campaigns through LinkedIn, emailing, digital networking and in-person events. This will include attending early morning and evening events as required.
• Set conversion objectives and support conversion from leads to donations
• Identify and secure lead opportunities within networks and events
• Pitch Epic and its various Giving Solutions to potential donors, and build tailored proposals when needed
• Maintain high discipline and consistency in follow-up with leads and donors: use Epic’s CRM to build a consistent pipeline of prospects, as well as maintaining the database with accurate and up to date donor information
• Evaluate and monitor the return on investment (ROI) of events and fundraising campaigns
• Prepare compelling fundraising communications, materials and presentations for donor meetings and events

2. Nurturing & engaging the UK Community (20%)

• Contribute to Epic’s engagement strategy for current donors to ensure an 80% renewal rate
• Maintain regular touchpoints with a subgroup of donors through activities such as sharing monitoring reports, organising project visits and volunteering opportunities in the UK, and scheduling regular calls and face to face meetings. 
• Act as the main point of contact for a subset of donors and answer their enquiries in a timely manner
• Craft and manage engagement opportunities such as UK events and webinars, including drinks, talks, breakfast events, and provide support to the organisation for the annual gala nights. Support will be provided for certain events by our in-house dedicated Events team.

3. Fundraising-related administration (15%)

• Manage donor-related administrative tasks, such as regular use of Epic’s CRM (Salesforce), donation forms, meeting preparation, minutes (where applicable), and 
• Process all donations, using Salesforce and related donation platforms, in a timely manner each month
• Liaise with international fund vehicles, such as Myriad USA, to ensure all international donation commitments are fulfilled. 

Position Requirements :

• Candidate must have the right to work in the United Kingdom
• Excellent level of English (both spoken and written) required
• Proficiency in French (written and spoken) highly desirable 
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a sales, fundraising or business development role, with demonstrable experience of securing 5- and 6-figure gifts
• Experience within the charity sector is desirable but not required
• Experience using software packages such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva and other applications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to attend external events (including evening events) and comfortable networking with a variety of people across different communities
• Experience with a CRM is required and preferably some experience of using Salesforce 
• Strong self-discipline and project management skills
• Excellent organisational skills and a strong eye for detail

The Epic UK team is a small but dedicated team. The role requires flexibility and a start-up attitude. This is a full time, permanent position, based in the London office with the opportunity for two remote working days each week. This role reports to the UK Director and will involve closely working with Epic’s global development team, as well as with the Engagement, Programs, Marketing and Communications, and Operations teams.

Contract Details

• Position based in central London (Mayfair), UK (with option to work from home 2 days per week).
• Contract type: Permanent, full-time
• Salary range: £35,000-£40,000 gross annual (depending on experience) 
• Start date: As soon as possible but within 3 months of the offer
