Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) is the leading UK charity supporting people affected by pulmonary fibrosis – a serious, life-limiting lung condition. We’re now seeking a proactive and talented Senior Press Officer to join our Communications Team and help position Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis as the authoritative voice on pulmonary fibrosis - supporting our campaigns, influencing health policy, and ensuring patients and their families are heard in the media. You will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of a proactive and responsive press and media strategy.

You will craft compelling press releases, source and publish emotive case studies and news stories that secure impactful media coverage to inform, inspire and drive change. Working closely with patients, healthcare professionals, and internal teams, you will ensure our messaging is powerful, accurate, and resonates with a wide range of audiences, from journalists to policymakers. You will help shape public and media narratives, influencing understanding, awareness, and ultimately, improving outcomes for people living with pulmonary fibrosis.

· Developing projects and a curriculum that can be followed to provide a structured program of learning.

Essential Criteria

Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) are recruiting for a Community Activities Coordinator to join our growing, dynamic organisation. This exciting new role will sit within AFRIL's busy Casework and Advocacy Service, working collaboratively with our asylum seeking and recently granted refugee clients to plan and deliver a range of activities, improving wellbeing and community solidarity. 

We are looking for a good people person, able to engage and inspire others, who demonstrates a collaborative approach to working with a range of stakeholders and in particular AFRIL clients who come from a variety of backgrounds. The postholder will be highly organised, have good project planning and execution skills, and a good working knowledge of the issues affecting refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. Community language skills are an asset.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) is a registered charity that supports asylum seekers, refugees, and vulnerable migrants in South East London. • Rainbow Club Supplementary School - providing weekly supplementary education in English and Maths, arts, music and sports activities to children from refugee, migrant  and asylum seeking backgrounds from 4-11 years old, plus youth volunteering programme and Youth Council (NRCSE and Sanctuary Status). 

• Casework and Advocacy Service: providing AQS accredited advice, casework and legal interventions in asylum support, community care, housing, welfare benefits and related matters. Pre-Action Protocol letters to challenge unlawful public law decisions. The service currently provides Level 1 immigration advice under the Immigration Advice Agency.

• Destitution Support - a fortnightly Food Bank in partnership with St Peter’s Church providing food, food vouchers, toiletries, and other essentials, alongside a warm hub with free cafe, information and support. Small grants for essential items and cash payments for food in emergencies. Securing and distributing gifts in kind, e.g. winter coats, laptops and data. 

• Allotment of Refuge - a welcoming community of food growers that supports improved health, wellbeing and integration of members, whilst protecting the local environment. 

• Immigration Project in partnership with Southwark Law Centre, providing free legal advice and representation to support people to regularise their immigration status. 

We also use our frontline experience, together with our clients, to engage in Policy and influencing work to improve the services and policies that impact our client group. This includes advising the GLA on 3 asylum related working groups, and as a member of the London Housing Panel.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to work with an innovative and friendly multidisciplinary team at our London Centre.​

You will line manage and supervise highly skilled and dedicated clinicians, in the service delivery of a range of NICE guideline recommended therapy interventions, offered to our clients, who are survivors of torture and organised violence. You will report to the Adult Team Manager, London and operate as an integral part of the London Clinical Services Team. This is an exciting chance to join us as we place survivor empowerment and movement building at the heart of our four-year strategy and work together to increase the number of clients who can access our services. It is based in a centre specifically designed to be a safe and welcoming environment for survivors and includes gardens and growing facilities.

About the role

This is a wide-ranging position, and your key areas of responsibility will include:

• To work with the Adult Team Manager and Heads of Clinical Services to implement FFT’s strategic goals. It will involve providing line management to paid staff and volunteers from different professions and disciplines and provide professional and clinical supervision to qualified clinicians and trainees in the service including, clinical/counselling psychologists. This role may also include providing remote clinical supervision to clinicians in our other regional centres (North West England and Scotland).
• To ensure that Freedom from Torture's clinical model continues to be fully rolled out, with particular emphasis on survivor empowerment and evidence-based practice for addressing PTSD and other mental health impacts of torture.
• Championing people development as well as influence delivery of evidenced -based practice, clinical standards, quality initiatives and audit-based services.
• To formulate and negotiate psychological treatment and management plans for referred clients and to provide psychological treatment, using a range of specialist psychological interventions appropriate to the service in line with the new clinical model “Pathways” (drawing on a range of evidence-based models for the presenting problems of the clients).
• Being an effective role model and leader to encourage, develop and enhance skills of others.​

About you

This is an important role within Freedom from Torture. To be successful in this role you must have a high level of commitment to maintaining excellent standards of client care and service delivery. It is a key requirement that you must have knowledge of appropriate clinical standards and external regulatory bodies. You must also have sound financial awareness and experience of balancing the provision of quality care against budgetary parameters.

To be considered for this role you must be a Psychologist registered with HCPC and have qualified with a doctorate or equivalent in either clinical or counselling psychology. You must have professional experience of working with clients with complex PTSD and have post-qualification experience of using evidence-based trauma focused therapy models. It is essential that you have a clear understanding of the experience of refugees and people seeking asylum, both in terms of pre-flight experience and the experience of living in exile. You must have previous management and supervision experience and be able to provide demonstrable examples of how you have successfully led and influenced clinical teams within community or health care settings.

In return, we offer a competitive package, with a generous 30-day annual leave entitlement, and 6% employer pension contribution.​

We also offer access to additional therapy training including NET and EMDR, access to high quality clinical supervision and an opportunity to hold a small case load alongside your management practice.​

About the role:

This role is based in London with Hybrid working.

As a Senior IDVA you will be:

• The main purpose of the job is to effectively manage and develop a high quality, innovative and pro-active domestic abuse service for victims and their children, including those at highest risk. Also you will need to ensure that the service prioritises the safety, security and dignity of service users and their children.
• The job would also include you being lead in crisis situations and to provide advice and guidance on safeguarding issues and information sharing concern
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.
• Develop your team and address their individual development/performance needs, set individual and team objectives and undertake annual appraisals.

You will need:

• To be successful in this role, you will need to have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on victims and their children, and the legal and practical remedies available to these clients.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practice and legislation relating to equal opportunities and diversity, inclusivity, safeguarding and risk assessments.
• Experience managing the delivery of domestic abuse services and managerial experience will also be necessary as well as having a thorough understanding of IDVA work.
• A proven ability to confidently use various IT systems including Case Management, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Outlook and other online applications/platforms.
• You would also need to hold a SafeLives IDVA training certificate, a relevant degree, a vocational qualification or have equivalent experience.
• An enhanced criminal record check and police vetting is required for this role.

About the Council

The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in eye care services.  The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians).  At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary. 

The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. They will be able to operate strategically and impartially; listen, communicate, and influence effectively; exercise judgment; and inspire confidence and support amongst our stakeholders. 

Remuneration and time commitment

Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses).  The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.

The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at Level 29, One Canada Square, London, E14 5AA. There are occasional online catch-up meetings - these are currently scheduled on a Tuesday evening every 6-8 weeks, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.

• Maintain up-to-date records on potential and active funders in OSH’s CRM.
   

Bid Writing & Submission

• Write and submit high-quality, tailored applications that articulate OSH’s impact, values and plans.

• Ensure applications are accurate, persuasive, and meet deadlines and funder requirements.

• Collaborate with the team to gather supporting information, budgets, and case studies.
   

Reporting & Stewardship

• Prepare timely and engaging reports for successful grants, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and strong stewardship.

• Maintain excellent records and monitor deadlines for reporting and renewals.
   

Cross-Organisational Contribution

• Coordinate annual impact reporting, including data analysis, case studies, and visual storytelling.

Purpose of the role:

You will help form part of a UK-wide team of remote Helpline Advisors operating the only modern slavery specific helpline in the UK. Answering incoming calls, making callouts, sending emails, drafting referrals to external agencies, and maintaining accurate data will be your day-to-day responsibilities. You will contribute to a service that as well as providing information, advice and guidance to our service users, also helps create one of the largest non-governmental bodies of data on the scale of modern slavery in the UK which is used to influence strategy and policy at local, national and international levels. The Barnsley Street Project is a pilot service funded by NHS money following a bid by East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT). The service comprises of Look Ahead staff, ELFT staff, and Tower Hamlets Mental Health VCSE Alliance, formed of 17 local VCSE organisations. The Barnsley Street Project operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support for people in the catchment area of one primary care network in Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets. It provides a variety of psychosocial and clinical interventions, including the provision of 6 Hospitality Beds for short term support and intervention.

Support Workers within the Barnsley Street Project will be expected to support individuals requiring support from the local community that walk in to the service and those staying in our hospitality beds. This support may include providing tailored and co-produced practical, emotional, trauma-informed support to individuals with a variety of challenges relating to their mental health. This may include the management of symptoms, social support, navigating benefits and welfare systems, practical skills and signposting to specialist services in the local authority for intensive or specific support as required.

The shift pattern for this role involves two 13-hour shifts per week (07:30-20:30), including Wednesdays.

• NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent with some or equivalent sector work experience

We are looking for individuals who will thrive in a fast-paced, rewarding role helping to change the lives of young people by taking up a permanent role as a part-time Programme Support Tutor. You will work closely with our existing team, supporting the delivery and organisation of the IntoUniversity programme in the centre.

The main duties of the role

To deliver the IntoUniversity programme effectively to children and young people in different settings, including schools-based workshops, Academic Support sessions and educational visits. This includes positive behaviour management and adherence to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

• To assist with the organisation and delivery of the Academic Support, FOCUS and Mentoring Programmes.
• To assist the IntoUniversity Centre Leader in liaising with schools and other partner bodies, in organising the classroom and resources and in planning project delivery. 
• To update and maintain IntoUniversity displays, publicity and resources.
• To work with the IntoUniversity Centre Leader to recruit children and young people to the programme, including after-school Academic Support and FOCUS Weeks. 
• To develop educational resources and worksheets for use across all IntoUniversity programmes. 
• To ensure compliance with all necessary regulations and legal requirements, including the Children’s Act,  Children and Young People (Scotland) Act, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act, Protection of Vulnerable  Groups (Scotland) Act, and legislation and policies related to Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety.

You will be employed 188 days (of 4 hours each) per year, made up as follows: 

• 164 days of work (inclusive of additional days below)
• 18 days of paid annual leave (to be taken outside of local school term times and on any bank holidays  occurring during term time). For the avoidance of doubt, non-working time during school holidays which is in excess of your holiday entitlement shall be unpaid.

Additional 32 hours (or 8 days of 4 hours each)

These will be agreed between you and your line-manager, and may include days during school holidays. They will typically include three whole team meetings, one delivery team meeting and the annual staff conference. These will be pro-rated based on when you join in the academic year.

Starting salary is £28,250 (pro-rata)
Pro-rated salary is £10,885 per annum for 16
hours per week.

Overview

We will be launching our new programme from September 2025, initially as a pilot working with families across Wandsworth, with aims to be able to expand and continue beyond this.

As a Family Support Worker, you will deliver flexible, hands-on, and therapeutically minded support to families facing multiple and complex challenges. You will build trusted relationships through home visits, school meetings, and practical support—empowering parents and carers to strengthen routines, manage behaviour, improve attendance, and access services. About the Role

Responsibilities:

1. Provide advice and a limited casework service covering the full range of debt and money management advice, including breathing space, debt relief orders, bankruptcy, and debt management plans.

2. Maintaining standards of service delivery and ensuring that advice and casework conforms to the Citizens Advice membership requirements, the Advice Quality Standard, and the minimum individual file review score of the Money and Pensions Service Advice Quality Framework.

3. Complying with systems for monitoring and reporting purposes.

4. Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that the service area meets key performance indicators and targets.

5. Analyse and interpret complex information, communicating this effectively in writing with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation.

Research and Campaigns

1. Keeping up to date and participating in current research trends and campaign issues by providing information on a client’s circumstances.

Essential Criteria

1. An understanding of and commitment to the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service including a strong commitment to equality and diversity.

2. An understanding of the problems and issues associated with unmanageable debt, particularly energy debt, and their implications for clients and advice service provision.

3. Recent experience of providing advice to the Advice QualityStandard and/or the willingness and ability to complete full debt advice training.

4. A good understanding of the skills and techniques used in interviewing through telephone and digital advice channels.

5. The ability to understand the needs of others and to empower clients to take actionfor themselves.

6. The ability to monitor and maintain own standards, prioritise work and meet deadlines and targets.

Requirements

1. To be appointed as an Energy Debt Specialist, you will need to have knowledge and experience of complex debt casework, covering priority and non-priority debt advice, options, and insolvency solutions.

You will also need to have the Institute of Money Advisers Certificate in Money Advice Practice or MaPS Caseworker accreditation equivalent. NEA Level 3 City and Guilds Level Energy Awareness would be desirable too.

● OR for a trainee - at least 6 months’ experience of delivering excellent customer service in a regulated environment such as banking, insurance, or a contact centre.

2. Experience ofachieving performance and quality targets/KPIs.

3. Ability and willingness to undertake training and development to comply with Money and Pensions Service and Citizens Advice quality standards.

4. Effective oral and written communication skills.

5. Numerate to the level required by the tasks.

6. IT literatewith the ability to use software packages including Microsoft Office products in the provision of advice and preparation of formal written materials.

This project is for clients who have energy debt (amongst others) and is intended to reduce the impact of personal debt by providing them with debt solutions.
