ROLE

An exciting role focused on growing and supporting the range of events that take place in Bridge 5 Mill, being first point of contact with potential hirers of our events spaces, supporting our community of tenants and users, and supporting  Bridge 5 Mill’s day to day operations, including reception, marketing and social media. 

BACKGROUND

Bridge 5 Mill is a centre of social change in a historic 5 storey mill on the edge of Ancoats / Northern Quarter, comprising workspaces and event spaces. Our unique sustainable and ethical approach characterises our building and drives all our activities. Bridge 5 Mill is part of a family of organisations (part of the Fairfield Environment Trust, a registered charity) including the Kindling Trust, promoting ecological and social justice through a broad range of projects. 

We have just fixed our broken lift. This is great news, as the period without a lift had a significant impact on our community of tenants, wider users and on our income from venue hire (with far fewer events able to take place during this time). This came on the tail of the Covid pandemic, which transformed how and when people use workspaces and events spaces. 

We are now at a pivotal time to rebuild both our events program and our offer as a beautiful, ethical and central venue to hire, as well as exploring how to diversify our services. You will be an instrumental part in the development and growth of our activities and in overcoming these  recent challenges.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to join a small dedicated team to help us deliver our vision. Alongside the Building Manager, your role will cover day to day operations, reception, events and marketing. You will be central to supporting events and our hirers, promoting our social change vision, and making Bridge 5 Mill a thriving community hub. We are looking for someone with experience of managing or promoting events, excellent interpersonal skills, energy and leadership.

MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE

Events and community building duties;

• First point of contact for enquiries about events or from potential hirers
• Liaise with hirers and event facilitators
• Build events collaborations and partners
• Assist with event setup and management
• Plan and deliver community, social change and revenue generating events
• Build a network with similar spaces in Manchester to strengthen collaborations 
• Uphold excellent service and reputation for the venue

Marketing duties;

• Deliver marketing outputs to increase revenue streams and new opportunities
• Develop a portfolio of new corporate clients
• Promote Bridge 5 Mill services, events, campaigns, values and social impact
• Promote and support our community’s activities
• Build relationship with key partners, local groups and new collaborators
• Manage and build Bridge 5 Mill’s online presence and accounts
• Produce compelling content and assist with marketing materials

Reception and day to day operations duties;

• Assist with bookings and appointment scheduling
• Support a friendly and welcoming environment
• Greet and assist building users
• Answer queries, phone calls, respond to emails and messages
• Provide information about Bridge 5 Mill and promote our services
• Supervise the security of the building
• On-call duties requiring timely response by phone or visits to the Mill
• Be a first responder i.e. fire marshal, first aider…

Antenatal Results and Choices (ARC) are a UK-wide charity offering impartial information and specialist support to parents undergoing antenatal testing. ARC also partners with healthcare professionals to promote high-quality, equitable care. 

We are recruiting an ARC Project Coordinator, who will lead a project aimed at improving pregnancy aspirations and readiness in communities, particularly those less likely to engage with maternity services. The project will focus on healthy conversations, accessible and accurate information, and equitable access to interventions, helping reduce inequalities and support informed pregnancy choices. 

The coordinator will also be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising a small team of volunteers who will help deliver some parts of the project. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities  

1. Project Delivery: 

• Lead, manage, and ensure the high-quality delivery of the ARC Project 

• Facilitate informed decision-making in pregnancy by working in partnership with ARC, our funder 

• Engage with parents less likely to access antenatal screening, offering information and support to help them understand and access available options 

• Provide education and signposting to both parents and health professionals about available support 

• Deliver person-centred relational support using evidence-based interventions and approaches 

• Normalise conversations about antenatal screening through a variety of services, including; clinics, participation in HSP’s prenatal offer, community groups, and partnerships with health services and the wider workforce 

1. Stakeholder Engagement: 

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key individuals within HIOW Healthcare NHS Trust and Portsmouth City Council

Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate spaces where young people can engage with sensitive topics and “rehearse” for real-life scenarios. Essential knowledge and experience

• Understanding of impact measurement and evaluation, applying appropriate and proportionate approaches, tools and methods to maximise learning at project and organisational level
• Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research techniques and comfortable using them to gather relevant data
• Understanding of the use of theories of change and outcomes frameworks

Join Dementia UK as a Challenge Events Manager where you will take the lead in delivering our DIY challenge events portfolio to grow our income in this area.

As part of the Mass Participation team, this is an exciting opportunity where we will look for you to develop the overall strategy for our DIY challenge events programmes. This covers all supporters who are taking on a sporting event through their own place. As Challenge Events Manager (DIY) you will identify and maximise opportunities for growth, ensuring the programme remains innovative and responsive to market trends. This will involve researching new opportunities, monitoring developments across the sector and continuously improving ways of working.

You’ll oversee the planning, marketing, budgeting and evaluation of events, using insight and innovation to drive growth. With a strong focus on collaboration, you’ll build meaningful relationships across internal teams and external partners, ensuring our events are delivered efficiently and compliantly. You will co-manage the Challenge Events team alongside the Challenge Events Manager (Third Party) which will ensure a joined-up approach to the overall Challenge Events programme, with shared learning and consistent delivery across all areas. You will have direct line management responsibility for three members of the team.

We’re looking for you to have proven experience in successfully delivering DIY challenge events, including participant recruitment, supporter journey development and stewardship communications to achieve income targets. With previous line management experience, you’ll have a strong background in leading projects, with the ability to guide and support team members to meet their objectives. You should have experience of working with external agencies, a clear understanding of marketing channels and digital techniques to drive participation, and a working knowledge of stewardship approaches.

This is a hybrid role, where you will spend two days in our Aldgate Head Office alongside the rest of the team to ensure great collaboration and a joined up approach to our mass participation events.

Freedom from Torture is a human rights organisation that provides rehabilitation to survivors of torture. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for human rights to join our team in Glasgow.

The Welfare Advisor works within the holistic rehabilitation model of Freedom from Torture and provides welfare advice and advocacy to our clients, forming part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will receive, process and manage welfare referrals, and act as a point of contact on welfare issues and in particular, for the Scotland centre. This role requires careful and sensitive delivery of complex welfare information and advice, often to very vulnerable clients. You must have in- depth knowledge of the welfare rights and benefits available to asylum seekers and/or refugees. This may include completing Section 4 applications, or appealing negative benefits decisions on health or vulnerability grounds.

About you

The ideal candidate for the role will have the following:

• Experience of working within a similar role providing advocacy on a range of welfare issues to include housing, welfare benefits and Asylum Support
• Extensive experience of working within the benefits system, including the application, assessment and appeals procedures
• Experience working with refugees and asylum seekers and an understanding of the needs of this group and the associated support services and mechanisms available
• Experience of liaising with external agencies and government bodies to ensure that service users are given access to their available welfare rights and entitlements.

At interview you will need to demonstrate your ability to identify welfare needs and provide appropriate advice and recommendations. You will be given a case study to work through and you will be asked to share your analysis and plan with us.

About You

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, the postholder will be responsible for building on our existing community fundraising initiatives, which includes networks of loyal volunteers and church contacts – from international pilgrim participants completing fundraising treks to congregations organising bake sales. Liaising with people at all levels, the role will oversee initiatives such as our Ambassador programme, encouraging people to be confident representatives of the charity and ensure they are equipped to share key updates about national campaigns and community fundraising initiatives.
