We are recruiting a General Advice Officer to support with the delivery of advice and welfare support to vulnerable guests who access the Community Wellbeing Service, a local support hub offering relief from the rising cost of living for local families. As the Alumni Officer, you will be someone who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about supporting them to progress to vibrant degrees and careers in STEM. The post holder will have strong knowledge and understanding of the barriers facing young people from low socioeconomic backgrounds accessing STEM education and careers across the UK.

The Alumni Officer will deliver the continuation of support for hundreds young people who complete the In2STEM programme every year, supporting them with continued support throughout year 13/S6 as they progress to post FE education, apprenticeships and training, and providing long term careers opportunities.

The post holder will be an organised and motivated self-starter who thrives in the face of change, enjoys creative problem solving, working in a team and can achieve deadlines on a tight timescale.

Your specific duties will include:

• Evaluate existing alumni activities to recommend and implement improvements and new initiatives to support the delivery of a high quality programme experience to support In2STEM alumni, aligning with learning objectives, feedback and our theory of change.

• Develop and deliver engaging alumni communications e.g. newsletters & email updates, to keep In2STEM alumni informed of news, opportunities and events.

Context and purpose of role

The Volunteer Experience Manager is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the volunteer program within the Ramblers. This role involves recruiting, training, managing, and retaining volunteers, ensuring they have a meaningful and impactful experience. The Volunteer Experience Manager works closely with various departments to align volunteer efforts with the organisation’s mission and goals.

The role will report directly to the Head of People Experience.

Key responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding

• Develop and implement strategies to attract and recruit a diverse pool of volunteers.
• Design and deliver comprehensive orientation programs to introduce new volunteers to the organisation and their responsibilities.

Training and Development

• Create and facilitate ongoing training programs to enhance volunteer skills and knowledge.
• Provide resources and support to ensure volunteers are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
• Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions to foster continuous learning.

Volunteer Management and Coordination

• Ensure accurate records of volunteer hours, roles, and performance are maintained.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for volunteer management.

Volunteer Retention and Engagement

• Design and execute recognition programs to acknowledge and celebrate volunteer contributions.
• Organise events and activities to keep volunteers engaged and motivated.
• Regularly communicate with volunteers to provide updates, gather feedback, and address concerns.

Program Evaluation and Improvement

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program.
• Conduct surveys and assessments to gather feedback from volunteers and identify areas for improvement.
• Implement changes and enhancements based on feedback and best practices.

Collaboration and Partnership Building

• Work closely with teams to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with external partners and community organisations to expand volunteer resources.

Technology and Data Management

• Utilise technology track and manage volunteer information.
• Maintain up-to-date records and generate reports on volunteer activities and program outcomes.
• Leverage communication tools and platforms to effectively engage with volunteers.

About the role

As our Community Fundraising Manager, you will:

• Lead the development and delivery of our Community & Challenge Events Fundraising Strategy
• Grow sustainable income by inspiring individuals, groups, schools, businesses and volunteers to support our work
• Build meaningful relationships and provide outstanding donor care from first contact through to long-term stewardship
• Ensure all community fundraising is fully compliant, safe and ethical, protecting supporters, volunteers and the reputation of Isabel Hospice
• Manage, support and develop a motivated Community Fundraising Team
• Work closely with colleagues in Marketing, Communications and across the organisation to deliver compelling, insight-led campaigns
• Represent the hospice at community events, presentations, and meetings, proudly sharing our purpose and impact

• Proven experience in community and/or events fundraising
• A strong understanding of the supporter journey and how to nurture long-lasting relationships

• A love of variety - you’ll be out in the community, leading your team, analysing data, and developing new ideas

• A full driving licence and access to your own car
