This is an opportunity to join Refuge as an IGVA supporting women and children who are impacted by different strands of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). The independent gender violence advocate will work closely with victims of gender-based violence from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children.

The role will be part of increasing the ability of partner agencies to recognise, reject and respond appropriately and safely to all forms of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual, financial and emotional abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour-based violence). The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support. The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options

The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage is seeking a Head of Finance to join its team based in London, UK. The successful individual will lead on strategic financial planning and financial day to day management at Girls Not Brides to advance our business model, financial sustainability and growth. The role ensures effective financial functions across the organisation, manages compliance with UK and overseas regulatory requirements, and works closely and hands on with other teams to oversee the preparation of proposals and budgets for prospective grants.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a passionate, talented senior finance professional with at least 5 years post qualified experience. You will have experience working in a similar senior-level finance role in the not-for-profit sector, international/intergovernmental organisation or social enterprise. You will have qualified and hold membership in a recognised professional accountancy body.  Your qualification and experience will ensure you hold an advanced understanding of the principles underpinning financial management and planning, with significant all-round accounting, financial management, full grants cycle management, compliance, risk and financial sustainability experience.  You will be experienced in year-end reporting and proficient in engaging with statutory and other auditors.  Ideally you will bring experience gained in a similar international charity, working in a multi-currency environment.

The successful candidate must already have the right to work in the UK at the time of applying and for the duration of the contract.

Fluency in English is essential for this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Leadership

· Lead on strategic financial planning and financial management at Girls Not Brides to advance the organisation’s business model, financial sustainability, and growth through long-range financial projection and planning, maximisation of income, and strong financial reporting.

· Ensure that financial planning feeds into the organisation’s work planning process and supports the strategic objectives of the organisation.

· Support all Directors/Heads of teams to ensure ownership of financial planning, annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, cost management, priorities and activities, as best serves the mission of the organisation.

· Lead on financial risk management including the implementation of appropriate risk management strategies such as financial controls, fraud prevention and processes to ensure value for money, and conduct regular reviews of Girls Not Brides’ financial policies and processes.

· Provide critical financial information, analysis, advice and support on financial issues and emerging opportunities.

· Assume responsibility for managing, planning and monitoring the Finance department’s budget. 

· Provides leadership with regards to vision, purpose, and functions for the long-term development of the Finance Team.

Financial Management and Accounting

· Develop and maintain effective financial functions including budgeting, forecasting, production of quarterly management accounts, preparation of annual statutory accounts, and preparation of financial reports to Girls Not Brides’ funders, potential funders and the Board of Trustees.

· Manages timely, accurate and impactful quarterly management accounts to enable business planning and monitoring of organisational performance.

· Monitor financial performance, oversee reporting and cash flow management functions and systems.

· Develop and oversee robust and effective financial systems and processes for Girls Not Brides’ staff members based internationally.

· Ensure the smooth running of all accounting, financial transactions and evidence record keeping processes.

· Lead on procurement systems and implementation, identifying efficiencies and value for money.

· Manage and oversee internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance across the organisation.

· Assume ownership of the organisation’s accounting system, including identifying and implementing measures to ensure strong efficiency.

· Ensure and manage an effective accounts payable function.

· Manage effective payroll, pensions and related employee benefit processes. 

· Manage the organisation’s foreign currency exchange policy and cash investment policy, ensuring compliance with donor terms.

Audit and Tax Compliance

· Manage compliance with UK and overseas legal, statutory accounting and regulatory requirements, including signing off on all statutory filings as required by the Charity Commission, Companies House, HMRC and the Pension Regulator.

· Manage the production of the annual report and financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, SORP and accounting standards.

· Manage the external audit process and implementation of the audit findings.

· Oversee the project audits required by donors.

Grant Accounting and Compliance

· Work with the Development & Outreach Team, the Senior Finance & Grants Officer and the Senior Coordinator for Grants to oversee preparation of proposals and budgets for prospective grants.

· Supervise the preparation of all financial grant reporting, ensuring that the Development & Outreach team receive accurate and timely information for effective grant and donor management and compliance.

· Maximise cost-recovery from grants through strong financial planning and cost analysis processes, to ensure financial viability of projects and grant agreements.

· Provide support to, and build capacity of, other teams to support grant compliance as necessary. 

· Review, and as needed negotiate, the legal and financial provisions of grant agreements.

· Oversee and ensure all received grants are promptly recorded and acknowledged, as well as paid out and reported on in accordance with donor requirements.

· Achieve timely, effective and clean external grant audits.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential experience

· ACA/ACCA/CCAB/CIMA qualified. 

· Significant professional post-qualified experience in a similar senior-level finance role in the not-for-profit sector, international/intergovernmental organisation or social enterprise

· Degree-level qualification in a relevant area such as accounting, finance or business administration, or equivalent professional experience.

· Up-to-date knowledge of relevant UK charity statutory requirements e.g. SORP, Charity Accounting, IFRS/IAS.

· Advanced understanding of the principles underpinning financial and grant management and planning and of demonstrating impact and value for money.

· Significant all-round accounting, financial management, full grants cycle management, compliance, risk and financial sustainability experience, likely gained in an international charity, e.g. working in a multi-currency environment.

· Proven experience of presenting and working with Boards and Finance Committees.

· Proven experience with contracts and grants management, including cost recovery models and revenue management, as well as donor compliance and due diligence. 

· Demonstrated experience in strategic business planning and review.

· Demonstrated direct experience of financial reporting to a Board of Trustees and major donors.

· Experience of using multi-currency accounting systems, such as Sun Systems, SAP Concur, QuickBooks, Sage and other relevant systems.

· Good knowledge of using complex excel functions such as macros, vlookup, pivot, sumifs, data analysis.

About Khulisa: 

Khulisa, meaning 'nurture' in the Zulu language of South Africa, is an award-winning charity dedicated to providing therapeutic support to young people. We focus on reaching those who are most at risk – young people from deprived communities who are often marginalized, vulnerable to exclusion, and at heightened risk of becoming involved in crime.

Our approach centres on safe, exploratory methods that aim to understand behaviour and experiences often rooted in trauma, abuse, and neglect. We deliver intensive therapeutic programs within educational and community settings, empowering young people to confront the underlying causes of their emotional distress and work toward healing. To create lasting, sustainable change, we also work to establish trauma-informed environments around young people by equipping parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals with the tools they need to offer effective, supportive care. GUCE Communications Manager Role

Community Energy is gaining momentum nationally, where people are increasingly coming together to take control of their own energy supplies.  Grand Union Community Energy (GUCE, pronounced “juice”) is looking to see communities along the Grand Union canal in Hertfordshire enjoy a clean and resilient energy system that benefits all.  We develop, support and promote renewable energy and energy efficiency projects for local communities from Watford to Tring, and build householder resilience by helping them reduce their bills and energy use.

We are seeking a Communications Manager for one day per week. Depending on the skills of the applicant the same individual could also cover aspects of other roles we are looking to fill.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a person with experience in communications and marketing campaigns to join our small but expanding team. We are looking to extend reach, build our network and develop a stronger online presence across our different project areas.

About the role  

As Income Generation Coordinator, you’ll play a central role in supporting and strengthening our fundraising activity. Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, you’ll help deliver and track income across our individual giving, legacy, and payroll giving programmes. From donor stewardship and financial reporting to managing inboxes, calendars, and team resources, you’ll keep things running smoothly and accurately. You’ll also support client servicing for our Employers for Carers programme and help ensure strong financial and administrative processes across the wider Income Generation and Communications team.

Confident working with data and financial reports, you’ll be comfortable using databases and Microsoft Office tools to manage multiple priorities with accuracy. GUCE Project Manager Role

Community Energy is gaining momentum nationally, where people are increasingly coming together to  take control of their own energy supplies.  Grand Union Community Energy (GUCE, pronounced “juice”) is looking to see local communities along the Grand Union canal in Hertfordshire enjoy a clean and resilient energy system that benefits all.  We develop, support and promote renewable energy and energy efficiency projects for communities from Watford to Tring, and build householder resilience by helping them reduce their bills and energy use.

We are seeking a Project Manager for two days a week, to help develop the opportunities that are forthcoming. Depending on the skills of the applicant the same individual could also cover aspects of other roles we are looking to fill.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a person with experience in project management to join our small but expanding team. The Project Manager for Community Energy will be responsible for converting opportunities for local renewable energy generation and energy efficiency projects into reality. They will take projects from concept, through funding and construction to management.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Deliver new potential projects, such as opportunities with Watford industrial units:

  • Work with technical specialists to assess the energy needs of the community, including energy demand, infrastructure, and renewable energy potential (solar, wind, biomass, etc.).

  • Identify and engage stakeholders (local authorities, local organisations, energy providers, and residents).

• For new and existing projects: 

  • Develop and monitor an overall plan to realise projects including timelines, budgets, resources and risk management strategies in conjunction with the Development Officer / Project teams.

  • Manage share offers.

  • Communication with potential local investors.

  • Manage paperwork.

  • Ensure the projects are realised rather than remaining just good ideas.

  • Work with others to manage cross-functional teams, including installers, contractors, and local community leaders.

  • Coordinate with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and partners to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

  • Foster a collaborative environment with all project team members.

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all costs are tracked, controlled, and aligned with available funding.

  • Work in partnership with the installer to oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for the project.

  • Track the progress of energy projects against objectives, milestones, and KPIs (key performance indicators).

  • Regularly report to stakeholders, funding agencies, and community members on project status and outcomes in collaboration with Project teams and Comms.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Skills & Experience

Required

In this role, the project manager serves as a bridge between technical experts, local communities, and other stakeholders, ensuring that energy solutions are not only sustainable and innovative but also beneficial and accessible to all involved.

We provide expert bereavement and grief information and support, and our charity has been supporting people for over 65 years. We support adults, children and young people across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, through our national services, 84 local branches and online information about grief and bereavement.

You will lead the Community Fundraising and Individual Giving team to inspire support and donations from groups, organisations and individuals in local communities across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. You will oversee a range of activity across the Community fundraising team and manage a portfolio of relationships including Fundraising Champions (volunteers in branches) and key donors and supporters. You will review, inform and deliver activity to secure individual giving income and promote gifts in Wills, building our income from individuals including those who have received support from Cruse.

As part of the Income and Marketing/Communications Management Team, you will help shape plans to grow our income, raise awareness and increase engagement from volunteers and donors. Working with key colleagues in Services, Volunteering and Finance, and key volunteers, you will build our approach to Community and Individual Giving.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape a new senior role within our organisation. The Interim Head of Research and Campaigns will lead our Research function and advocacy efforts, ensuring that evidence-based insights drive our campaigns, policy work, and public engagement.

Recently kicking off our new ‘Creating Positive Change Together’ strategy, coproduced by over 130 staff, volunteers, clients and partners, Groundswell has ambitious plans around influencing more change and amplifying voices to promote healthier lives and a better future for anyone who has experienced homelessness. This role directly aligns with these strategic plans, to refine and use innovative participatory research centring lived experience, share and amplify insight from people with experience of homelessness, and increase our campaigning activities to change systems and break down the barriers that stand in people’s way to a healthier life and more hopeful future.

This role has been created on an interim basis to assess its impact and effectiveness, with a key focus on reviewing the priorities, progression and support of our Research Team and making recommendations for the future regarding this new role. The role will sit within the wider Participation, Progression and Creating Change team. 

We anticipate that some form of Head of Research & Campaigning role will continue beyond this 12-month period, and this interim position will very much shape and inform that longer term role.
