The role is to lead the trust and foundations fundraising activities for West Sussex Mind. This will include maximising support through building and maintaining relationships on behalf of West Sussex Mind, to secure funding to enable us to maintain and develop our services. You will research and build our trust and foundations pipeline and support the delivery of our wider community fundraising work.

The successful candidate will generate income and funds for West Sussex Mind in line with the WS Mind fundraising strategy by:

• Writing high quality applications for grants and to trusts and other charitable funders.
• Undertaking identification and research to identify new trust supporters.
• Maintaining and updating accurate fundraising databases to show potential bids, those in progress, timelines and outcomes.
• Delivering excellent customer care to our trust donors.
• Achieving agreed targets on income through funding bids.
• Ensuring reports back to funders are written to a high standard and sent on schedule.
• Supporting our Deputy CEO around the development of cases for support for projects/services where fundraising is required.
• Producing high-quality cases for support.
• Supporting the Fundraising and Communications Manager and fundraising team with other fundraising tasks.
• Collecting and presenting accurate and appealing information, including high-quality cases for support, to trust prospects and donors about West Sussex Mind’s work
• Contributing to the smooth running of the team and effective fundraising by providing administrative and organisational support as needed
• Promoting best practice in fundraising.

You could be an experienced Trust & Foundations Fundraiser looking for a change in role or an individual with strong transferable skills looking to build your experience in this area.

You will need to have excellent skills at working with a wide range of people and organisations and be creative and proactive around creating and taking trust fundraising opportunities.

As we are a small organisation with a small fundraising and communications team, you will also be involved in supporting day-to-day community fundraising work and activities.

The Neuro Therapy Centre is a member led charity which provides practical support and therapies to help manage the symptoms of a wide range of long-term degenerative neurological conditions including MS, Parkinson’s, FND and ME. The Centre supports 700 people across North Wales, Cheshire and the Wirral.

The Centre has expanded its facilities over the last two years to be able to support more people who can benefit from its services and we have lots of exciting plans to grow our services and use our facilities. You’ll be a confident writer with the ability to collate and portray the impact of our services and projects whilst still being able to meet the varied criteria of funding applications. You’ll have a keen eye for detail, and be on the pulse looking for opportunities to apply for funding, whilst building and maintaining funding relationships for the Centre.

Our friendly team is based in Saltney, near Chester where our services and support also operates from – so you’ll get to see first-hand how your role makes a difference to people’s lives first-hand. Many of our fundraising and marketing team work in a hybrid model and we are open to applications from people who wish to work in this way or fully remotely with occasional visits to the Centre on an in-frequent basis to learn about the charity and for funder visits.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Research and identify potential funding sources for applications including charitable foundations, lottery bids, and statutory organisations.
• Liaise with the Centre management team to highlight funding opportunities and collect facts and information to form Cases for Support.
• Write fundraising bids to support projects and service delivery.
• Maintain communication with our network of funders
• Manage and maintain a funding pipeline of prospective funders, applications submitted, and feedback/monitoring requests.

This Trusts Fundraiser role offers an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, fully remote team with a long-standing track record of delivering exceptional service to charity clients. The postholder will deliver vital trusts and foundations fundraising across a diverse range of causes, contributing to the highest standards of fundraising practice within a supportive, ambitious and growth-oriented environment that values creativity, expertise and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategies to maximise trust and foundation income for client charities.
• Conduct detailed prospect research and maintain accurate records of funding opportunities.
• Prepare compelling grant applications and assist with funder reports and monitoring requirements.
• Support the organisation of events and attend external meetings with trust and foundation representatives as needed.
• Contribute to team capacity by providing expertise and additional support to colleagues.
• Maintain accurate client and fundraising data in line with GDPR and data protection legislation.
• Assist the MD in ensuring compliance with all relevant fundraising regulations.
• Keep up to date with trust landscape developments and fundraising best practices.
• Support business development activities, including website and social media updates.

Person Specification:

• Proven experience (minimum three years) in trust and foundation fundraising, ideally within small/medium charities.
• Track record of securing grants of £300,000+ annually.
• Ability to build and manage relationships with key funders and stakeholders.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Skilled in research, data management, and analytical tasks.
• Capacity to interpret complex financial and grant information.
• Organised with good time management and the ability to work independently under deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clients.

Events and Networking and Representation

The Candidate
Senior-level fundraising experience from a similar role at an NGO, organisation, or charity.

Extensive existing network of senior executives with major global foundations and organisations.

Proven track record of identifying and closing deals for 6 - 7 figure gifts.
