The Opportunity

An exceptional interim Director of Finance & Operations (DFO) is sought to join at a pivotal moment in this organisation’s journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective leadership of Finance, IT, Governance and Facilities, ensuring development and implementation of strategies and effective practices across all operational areas.
• Drive financial recovery and sustainability: deliver robust financial planning, budgeting, reporting and control processes, while providing clear and strategic advice to the Board and Executive Director.
• Lead on governance, including regulatory compliance, Board reporting, and supporting a review of the organisation’s dual legal structure (limited company and charitable trust).
• Oversee people management within the Finance team, ensuring high performance, effective development, and clear leadership through a period of significant change.

The Candidate

• Professional accountancy qualification and significant leadership experience at Director level, ideally including the charity sector.
• A strong track record of restoring financial stability and leading organisations through periods of financial and cultural change.
• Experience of managing governance, compliance, IT and central services.
• Excellent judgement, interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and complex issues (e.g. disciplinary/capability cases, compliance matters, decision-making in ambiguity).

How are staff supported to work remotely?

To provide a high quality welfare benefits advice service to people affected by cancer with the aim of maximizing their income and advising on a range of related social welfare issues.

To work closely with the staff of the Citizens Advice Camden Macmillan Welfare Advice Service to maintain and further develop a quality provision ensuring that Citizens Advice standards are met. 

To work effectively with Macmillan Cancer Support, The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, Macmillan Information Centre and other relevant agencies, to ensure that people living with cancer who have been referred to the service are appropriately supported. 

This role will primarily be based at the Citizens Advice Camden Welfare Advice Service at the Royal Free Hospital; some work may be undertaken at other sites. The Citizen Advice Camden office is based within the hospital’s Oncology department.

Key elements/Tasks 

The adviser will be expected to work in a busy and often demanding hospital environment. This role will require you to work with a large number of clients, many of whom will present with multiple and complex advice needs because of their condition. This can be an emotionally challenging and sometimes distressing working environment, and the adviser will need to demonstrate emotional resilience and an awareness of how to support herself/himself and to seek support from others in dealing with this. 

The adviser will need to be sensitive to the demands of working daily with healthcare professionals and other non-Citizens Advice Camden stakeholders and to work effectively as an ambassador for Citizens Advice Camden. A large part of the role, in addition to advising clients, involves building and maintaining strong relationships.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising & Income Generation

· Develop and deliver engaging fundraising campaigns and activities for community groups, individuals, and businesses to support our shared mission

· Build strong, sustainable relationships with local supporters, volunteers, and corporate partners to grow income and awareness

· Lead on stewarding existing supporters and proactively seeking out new ones through networking and outreach

· Create and manage a calendar of fundraising events and opportunities that engage and inspire participation from all parts of our community

· Promote and support third-party fundraising events, providing advice, materials, and encouragement to maximise their success

Community Engagement

· Be a warm and visible ambassador for The Carers Centre, representing our values at local events, community spaces with empathy and enthusiasm.

· Support the development of volunteer fundraising networks and champions

· Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure carers’ voices are at the heart of messaging and initiatives

Corporate Partnerships

Research, approach, build  and sustain meaningful relationships with local businesses and corporate supporters , fostering shared value of community support, compassion, and social responsibility. to secure donations, sponsorships, employee fundraising, and volunteering opportunities

· Prepare compelling partnership proposals, impact reports, and presentations tailored to potential and existing partners

Communications & Administration

· Work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to promote fundraising campaigns through digital, print, and social media channels

· Maintain accurate supporter records and track income and engagement using our CRM system

· Ensure all fundraising activity is compliant with GDPR, fundraising regulations, and reflects The Carers’ Centre’s values

General

Ensure that you;

· Uphold and embed our values and behavioural competencies in your work

· Work within The Carers’ Centre’s policy framework.

· Ensure that you adopt good practice within the Carers Trust network.

· Encourage carers to provide feedback on The Carers’ Centre services and to become actively involved in shaping future delivery.

· Work with the Carbon Champion, the Senior Leadership Team and small working group of colleagues to look for ways to reduce carbon footprint across the organisation, make cost savings on energy usage and achieve targets throughout the Carbon Footprint project

· Support the Carbon Champion by implementing environmentally friendly practices to help reduce our carbon footprint.

We are looking for an experienced community fundraiser to join Scope at an exciting time. This brand-new role will work across teams to develop our income from individuals, local groups, and businesses.

You will lead a team of two, helping them set clear goals and track progress. You will also make sure that our fundraisers and volunteers have a great experience, so they will want to keep supporting us in the future.

The role

As Community Fundraising Lead, you will play a central role in helping Scope achieve its mission to create a fairer society for disabled people. You will lead the strategic development and delivery of Scope's Community Fundraising programme, ensuring it is inclusive, impactful and aligned with our values.

You will:

· Develop and implement Scope's Community Fundraising strategy, identifying opportunities that reflect the diversity of local communities

· Lead and support a high performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning and continuous improvement

· Build and nurture relationships with supporters, volunteers and stakeholders, ensuring everyone feels welcomed, respected and supported

· Monitor and report on fundraising performance, budgets and key milestones, helping to shape future plans and drive income growth
