The Opportunity:

This is where this new role comes in: The Head of Fundraising will play a crucial role in supporting the stewardship of the current donors while also securing the vital resources needed to realise our bold ambition and help us transform the lives of millions of young refugees and conflict affected youth across the globe.

You will be part of leading a growing and changing organisation, and will work closely with Amala’s two Co-founders and the Fundraising Manager to develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy, cultivate and deepen key donor relationships and boost our income growth from our current £800k towards our £3 million target by 2027, driving the financial sustainability necessary for Amala’s continued growth and impact.

Who we are looking for:

You will be an inspiring leader with exceptional people management skills, with experience in leading growing organisations, and who enjoys the strategic side of the role as well as having a hands on approach. 

The role would be best suited to someone who is committed to making a difference to the lives of young refugees, with a strong grounding in international charity sector fundraising. and international funding.

Essential experience:

• Proven experience in a senior fundraising management role within the non-profit sector, ideally within international development.

• A proven track record of success in fundraising, particularly in developing and executing complex fundraising strategies for a growing non-profit organisation.

• Experience developing and implementing multi-year income generation plans.

• A strong history of securing six-figure, multi-year grants and contracts in the UK and internationally, with an annual income generation of £1m+.

• Senior-level experience managing relationships with multiple, diverse funders and donors.

• Experience writing successful partnership bids, grant proposals, cases for support, and theories of change.

What we offer:

This full time, fully remote position offers a salary of £50,000-55,000 if you are a UK resident. If you reside in a different location, the salary will be adjusted accordingly. Sightsavers’ Trusts and Corporate Partnerships team is excited to be expanding its team in response to growing demands and opportunities in the trusts & foundation sector. We are recruiting for two additional Trusts & Foundations Advisors to be key contributors to the development of Sightsavers trusts and foundations programme. They will play a crucial role in the successful recruitment and cultivation of new business, while also managing a portfolio of existing trust and foundation donors primarily based in the UK, U.S and Europe.

In this role, the Advisor will be instrumental in contributing towards the team’s annual income target and supporting additional planned growth in the coming years. 

Responsibilities

• Manage and cultivate relationships with a portfolio of key trust and foundation donors for Sightsavers (up to 7-figure funding agreements) via proposals, mailings, reports, telephone or face-to-face meetings as appropriate, and coordinate donor visits, dealing with CEOs, Directors, and Trustees.
• Develop key external and internal relationships and donor engagement activities for the achievement of planned objectives with these donors.
• Research, identify, prioritise, and develop personalised engagement plans and donor strategies to cultivate new trust prospects in targeted global markets. Lead on cultivating relationships with CEOs, Directors, and Trustees, with the aim of establishing additional high-value funding relationships.
• Work proactively across the organisation, including cross-culturally, to coordinate, develop, and deliver a high standard of compelling project proposals and reports ready for submission to donors whilst ensuring excellent grant/contract management to existing donor relationships.
• Actively participate in the networks surrounding trusts and foundations, sharing information, insights, opportunities, and fundraising materials produced.

With the end of bear bile farming in Vietnam now within reach, Animals Asia is entering an exciting new phase – expanding sanctuary capacity, entering new markets, and securing long-term care for every rescued bear.

Animals Asia has spent over 25 years working to end cruelty and restore respect for animals across Asia. With teams in Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, the UK, and beyond, they combine advocacy, direct rescue, and sanctuary care to create systemic change. Their mission to end bear bile farming – arguably the world’s cruelest form of animal abuse – is almost complete. In November 2023, they opened their third bear sanctuary which will enable them to bring home every last bear and achieve their founding goal in Vietnam by the end of 2026.

Their global fundraising and communications team is driven, well-structured, and rooted in the charity’s deeply held values. Income has been steadily rising since 2017 and they have the people, plans and investment to maintain this growth.

The Trusts and Foundations function has grown substantially since being unified globally in 2020. Income has more than doubled, donor relationships are well-managed, and new business is actively developed. Fundraising Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and talented fundraising team

We are looking for an experienced Fundraising Officer to join our small and friendly fundraising team. You will support the High Value Partnerships Manager and Community Fundraising Manager, both of which are already well-established income streams with lots of great potential. It’s a great opportunity to work across varied income streams including Corporate, Trusts & Grants, Community, Fundraising Events and Individual/Regular Giving.

Contract: Permanent
Hours:  37 hours per week (negotiable for the right candidate)
Flexibility: We are a flexible employer and most of our staff are juggling things (including caring for multiples!) We are great at making jobs work around life.
Salary: £24,000 - £27,000
Reports to: Community Fundraising Manager  
Work location: Hybrid/remote. Office space in London Bridge, although entirely remote option is fine. Travel to partner meetings/events will also be required.

Purpose of the role

• Reporting to the High Value Partnerships Manager you will provide support across our two priority Fundraising streams – Community Fundraising (Community, Events and Individual/Regular Giving) and High Value Partnerships (Trusts, Grants, Corporate and Sponsorship).
• Conducting prospect research (Corporate and Trusts/Grants) creating a pipeline of targeted opportunities, and submitting applications for lower level funding
• Providing excellent relationship management to those in our community who fundraise for us, whether that’s as a Regular Giver or Marathon runner
• Providing support to the Manager planning Fundraising Events, recruiting participants, attending and cheering on our fundraisers and thanking our supporters
• Accountable for delivering our annual raffle and ongoing Lottery programme
• Support the wider Development team with admin relating to Fundraising

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience either in supporting the delivery of High Value partnerships or Community Fundraising. They will be able to demonstrate how they have researched partnerships and/or submitted funding applications, providing excellent stewardship and creating meaningful partnerships that lead to long term support for the charity.

Job Description  

Reporting to the Head of Income Generation and Fundraising, we are looking for someone with a passion for helping vulnerable young people to achieve their potential and who is excited by playing their part in raising funds towards our £1 million target. Working in our small Income Generation Team, you will have responsibility for writing compelling proposals and reports that showcase the impact of our work. You will have the opportunity to build lasting relationships with current and potential funders, building and stewarding our restricted income pipeline which you will own.

We are looking for someone with a strong track record of securing funding, preferably within the youth, sport for development or health & wellbeing sector. Strong attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Key responsibilities  

Fundraising and business development  

• Write compelling funding proposals and cases for support, from £5000 to £100,000s

• Own and grow Trusts and Grants pipeline, identifying and researching new funding opportunities 

• Cultivate and steward relationships with new and existing funders

• Represent Trust at programmes, events, funder meetings

Relationship Management 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential funders

• Ensure effective communication with funders, providing high quality reports and updates

• Initiate and develop long-term relationships with trusts and foundations.

• Contribute to a communication and stewardship programme.
• Collaborate with fundraising colleagues to track and report on prospecting activities.
• Take responsibility for ensuring that fundraising partnerships with charitable trusts and foundations achieve their maximum potential. 
• Work with the Philanthropy, Trusts, and Prospect Development Managers to identify new prospects.
