The Trusts and Foundations Officer will support the Trusts and Foundations team to meet income targets and develop and maintain relationships with donors and prospects. The role combines supporting the Trusts and Foundations Manager, Senior Trusts Officer, and Head of Fundraising with the maintenance of existing relationships as well as generating their own income from both smaller and larger trusts. The successful candidate will demonstrate success in securing grants from charitable trusts, foundations, and institutional donors. Proven experience in trust and foundation fundraising, preferably within the nonprofit sector or a similar environment is essential.

About the role
- You'll research trusts and foundations funding opportunities to which IHP can apply.
- You'll prepare and submit compelling funding applications to trusts and foundations in order to grow our core income.

A lot of what we do is writing applications and reports for funders that need to be written in a way that tells a compelling story about our work, as well as being factually accurate and concise. We deal directly with our fantastic supporters who fund some of our key projects, as well as researching and contacting potential new ones.
As Senior Trusts and Grants Officer, your primary priority is to generate multi-year income for YoungMinds specifically from Trusts, Foundations and occasional Government funding i.e statutory sources.
This role is vital in implementing our vision to create a step change in YoungMinds’ fundraising.

Moving from a funder-led approach to engaging all supporters as part of our movement, where effective fundraising builds relationships and becomes an essential part of achieving our charitable objectives, not just funding them.
The successful candidate will have:
- experience of successful multiyear applications for funding from Trusts and other grant-making bodies
- experience of using databases for effective fundraising and supporter retention
- an ability to develop and maintain relationships with a range of audiences
- an ability to pitch/make the ask for funding by phone, face-to-face and/or with a written proposal
- knowledge of the UK voluntary sector, funding sources and fundraising law and methods
- understanding and awareness of AJEDI (Anti racism, Justice, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion)

This team are really relationship-driven, retaining their funders for multiple years even in this competitive market. As Trusts and Statutory Manager, you will play a vital role in this charity, developing and maintaining a strong pipeline of high value trusts and foundations (focusing on six-figure plus) donors, while line managing the Trusts Officer and Trusts and Stewardship Officer. You will lead and cultivate stewardship plans and exercise excellent proposal writing skills. This charity understands the importance of working flexibly and promotes a collaborative and supportive environment.
You don’t need line management experience for this role as they are willing to train people!
You will need:
- Excellent communication and writing skills to create high-quality proposals and reports
- A track record of building and managing funder relationships
- Interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate team members
Salary: £39,000-£42,000
