This is a new role at Befriending Networks, as we seek someone who is up for the challenge of fundraising to support the continuation of our work in supporting the network of befriending organisations and ensuring that meaningful social connection is available to all.

The role will work closely with the CEO to deliver a fundraising strategy, which will focus on trusts, grant-givers, and corporate collaborations across the UK.  

You will be a skilled communicator, and you will be influential in how you present our work. You will be a self-starter and someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work. You will be courageous and curious as you work to position Befriending Networks as an investable charity. 

The key focus of this role

1. Generate income from small grants from trusts and foundations for specific projects and activities over the short to medium term.  

2. Assist the CEO in the preparation of strategic grant applications for work across the UK, with an initial focus on England, Scotland and Wales to deliver key priorities of our Strategic Plan over the longer term.

3. Development of potential corporate partnerships and collaborations.

Committed to our causes, you will use your donor cultivation skills to strengthen existing relationships and use your research and networking skills to identify and cultivate new opportunities. Your excellent written and development skills will enable you to work with colleagues to turn their visions into compelling proposals for funders and our wider support base. Your knowledge of fundraising best practice will ensure that we deliver an excellent donor experience.

You will work alongside our Membership & Communications Manager and have some support from our Administrative Assistant. You will also be supported in your work by the CEO, trustees, volunteers, and external contractors.

Our office is in an 18th century building overlooking the beautiful Wandlebury estate. Wandlebury is located on top of the Gog Magog Hills just south of Cambridge.

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:

· Prepare and manage fundraising budgets, forecasting potential income and expenditure for fundraising initiatives.

· Build excellent working relationships with colleagues across the organisation, creating processes that support efficiencies and collaborative working.

· Deliver and own fundraising strategies that will excite and motivate donors to support Age Well East.

· Train, mentor, and coordinate the contributions of volunteers and staff engaged in fundraising activities.

· Innovate new initiatives and campaigns to diversify income streams, e.g., digital fundraising, community fundraising, and corporate partnerships.

· Liaise with finance and service delivery teams to report on grant expenditure and impact, ensuring funders’ requirements are met.

· Support the organisation’s mission, values and strategic aims, acting as an ambassador of Age Well East in all fundraising activities.

Fundraising Manager
We are seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to develop and deliver income generation from charitable trusts, foundations, and corporate partners.

In this role, you’ll drive forward our trusts, foundations, and corporate partnerships work to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships to support our mission. We are looking for a Trust Fundraising Officer to join our supportive Trusts and Grants fundraising team, playing a key role in helping raise vital funds for services that support people experiencing and recovering from homelessness to rebuild their lives.

In the role of Trust Fundraising Officer, you will work closely with a team of four other trust fundraisers, helping to meet our income target of circa £1.5m in 2025-26, and produce high quality written proposals and reports that reflect the impact of philanthropic support on the people we work with.

In this role, you will develop compelling fundraising proposals about our varied projects and will be supported to manage a portfolio of small to medium trusts and family foundations (giving up to £10,000). You will build strong relationships with trust funders, communicating the impact of their grants and helping them to feel connected to the work they are supporting.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for in person collaboration, team meetings and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.

We think this role will suit someone keen to develop their skills in fundraising. If you have some experience in a fundraising environment, and an understanding of trusts and grants our dedicated team will support you to learn all about the interests and working methods of trusts, foundations and charitable grant makers.

You will be able to demonstrate good organisation skills, interest in working collaboratively as part of a team; and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of different people while promoting the values of St Mungo’s and the work that we do as a charity.

As Director of Fundraising, you’ll be part of the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT), leading fundraising development and investment. An experienced leader, you’ll manage diverse income streams and teams, excelling in high-value individual and corporate relationships. Strong communication, strategic thinking, and team development skills are essential - you’ll oversee a fundraising strategy, collaborate with other SLT members on grants and campaigns, and help shape the charity’s culture, ensuring all staff align with its values.
