The Role

The Chief Executive provides overall leadership in terms of the strategic development and operational management of Muscular Dystrophy UK. Experience:

Grants Fundraising Officer (job share)

Hope and Homes for Children is looking for a Funding Coordination Officer (this is the job title used internally for this role), who'll play a key supportive role in the Grants Partnerships team and Marketing, Communications and Fundraising (MCF) department, contributing directly to the Grants team income target as well as supporting fundraisers across the department to access compelling information in support of their fundraising.

About the opportunity

Fundraising is critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future.  The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year), of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations, £100k is from individuals, and the remaining from trusts and foundations. We have been successful year on year in increasing our fundraising base by building secure multi-year partnerships.
 

We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work within our passionate Philanthropy Team to help grow our fundraised income and develop and maintain an effective, high-quality funding pipeline. Focussing predominantly on eliciting funding from trusts and foundations, and working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, CEO and Corporate Partnerships Manager, the Fundraising Manager will ensure the effective management of existing funder relations and take responsibility for ensuring Action Tutoring meets its reporting obligations. The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for the line-management and development of three Fundraising Coordinators, through which you and your team will prepare and submit grant applications and funding reports, alongside overseeing the development and growth of our individual giving activities and initiatives, including through expansion of our fundraising events and campaigns.

Duties and responsibilities

· Act as a system manager for fundraising platforms, databases and tools including Just Giving and the Giving Block, with support from Fundraising Coordinators.
 

· Oversee the development of the fundraising area of the website and fundraising pack to attract new funders and fundraisers to the charity, with support from the Fundraising Coordinators.
 

· Manage the Fundraising Coordinators, ensuring they are growing and developing, and that work load is shared fairly. 
 

· Represent Action Tutoring at relevant meetings and events.

• Support the setting of the charity’s fundraising targets through the research and review of both external and internal fundraising activities.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of the charity’s fundraising activities and campaigns.
• Collate the agreed metrics (including income and expenditure) and report on a weekly basis.
• Participate fully in the generation of fundraising ideas and activity selection.
• Design, prepare and implement the agreed activities and campaigns, which are likely to be varied in nature and might include dedicated fundraising events, grant applications to support families in disadvantaged socio-economic groups, and legacy generation.
• Recommend changes and updates to the activities and campaigns based on testing and evidenced data.
• Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of fundraising activities and campaigns, including both income and impact.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with both new and existing individuals and organisations, such as member alumni and grant-making trusts and foundations.
• Lead on stewarding the support of donors, funders, ambassadors and influencers through regular communications and feedback on impact.
• Create and submit monitoring reports to funders that are both timely and of high quality.

Promoting the Charitable Aims of the Charity

• With marketing support as needed, create effective messaging to be shared externally and with existing members to engender a sense of belonging to the high learning potential community, together with an understanding of its rights and its potential positive impact on society, with the aim of creating a desire to support the charity now and on an ongoing basis.
• Work with the Community Information Coordinator to utilise all appropriate opportunities to convey these messages.

Membership

• Design and coordinate an effective system to enhance the membership offer and improve membership renewal and retention.
• Work with the administration and community teams to ensure that the journey from interested party to becoming a member and from member to retained member is compelling and framed coherently and that systems are in place to effectively implement this.
• Work with the Community Information Coordinator on campaigns and strategies to reach new members, engage with existing members and retain existing members.
• Have a thorough understanding of the membership database, collate information and monitor, evaluate and report on all aspects of membership performance.
• Design and coordinate regular market research, including competitor analysis, to identify member/stakeholder needs, to support the rationale for the development of new member/community products and services, and to liaise with and advise other teams in the organisation as appropriate.
• Analyse and interpret marketing and social media performance.
• Identify opportunities for engagement of the membership and the wider community.

About us: Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Since 2003, Tender’s work has grown and diversified from a single workshop programme delivered to schools, into a broader range of programmes reaching both children and young people and professionals with a safeguarding responsibility such as teachers, youth workers, social care workers and foster carers. Tender’s programmes include Healthy Relationships projects delivered across England, projects delivered using online resources and technology, specialist projects for vulnerable children and young people, whole school and whole setting approaches, and training for professionals with safeguarding responsibility and in workplaces.

About the role: We now have a need for a coordinator to work closely with the whole development team (comprising a Development Director, Development Manager, Development Officer, Major Donor Consultant and the CEO) in coordinating all aspects of our fundraising work, from identifying prospects, creating compelling funding applications through to successfully managing relationships with funders. This role will give you experience of all of our funding streams, as well as exposure to our funders through your work in organising and managing our various events throughout the year, such as our annual awards.

What you will be doing:

• Supporting all members of the Development team to achieve the team’s annual fundraising targets
• Preparing and submitting applications in support of fundraising from trusts & foundations, statutory funders, corporates, major donors, and individual givers
• Supporting all members of the Development team to develop relationships with Tender’s funders and successfully steward relationships to achieve further funding
• Supporting the Development team in coordinating and delivering events in support of Tender’s fundraising activities

Essential requirements:

• Good understanding of the principles of different fundraising streams, including trusts & foundations and corporate
• Proficiency in office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines
• Forming sound, evidence-based decisions and taking personal responsibility for actions

Role Overview:​​

• Provide infrastructure support to local voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups and social enterprises. ​

• Engage in one-on-one and outreach meetings to better support community needs. ​

• Develop and manage VCSE networks focusing on key themes like Children, Families, and Young People, Health and Wellbeing, Digital Isolation, and Safeguarding. ​​

Key Responsibilities:​​

• Develop and oversee the implementation of detailed work plans for the development and funding advice service. ​

• Assist VCS organisations with monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating their impact. ​

• Provide guidance on funding streams, review proposals, and offer feedback. ​

• Advise on legal structures, policies, and charity registration processes. ​

• Planned and delivered training programs in collaboration with EHCVS staff or external trainers. ​

• Promote best practices and support the development of business plans, fundraising strategies, and quality assurance policies. ​​

Network Development:​​

• Lead the development and promotion of a VCSE network in Ealing. ​

• Maintain and expand the membership database. ​

• Organise and facilitate network meetings and produce a monthly E-News. ​

• Support the development of local VCS networks and ensure effective communication through regular news updates and an online community calendar. ​​

Other Duties ​​

• Assist in producing briefings, information, and web material. ​

• Assist in producing monitoring and evaluation information. ​

• Assist in developing and organising events. ​

• Represent Ealing & Hounslow CVS at meetings and events relevant to your project. ​

• Undertake other related project duties as may be required. ​

• Work in cooperation with other members of the staff team of EHCVS and attend appropriate internal and external meetings. ​

• Support EHCVS with other project developments and funding applications to funders. Undertake occasional additional duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the post as identified by EHCVS’s Board of Trustees​

Monitoring and Evaluation ​​

• Record monitoring information; review the progress of current projects every week and manage upwards. ​

• ​Prepare written evaluation reports for EHCVS projects and services. ​

• ​Support the Funding and Development Manager with monitoring information collated from service as and when required. ​

• ​Weekly and monthly reporting. ​
