The Development Office at Oundle School is looking for Deputy Director of Development who will be instrumental in advancing our philanthropic goals and will support the management and running of its driven and friendly team.

THE ROLE

The Deputy Director of Development will play a key part in helping us achieve our philanthropic goals. This role provides a real opportunity to make a tangible difference: devising and shaping strategy, driving forward our stewardship and legacies programme, building key relationships with major donors, and working closely with the Director of Development on the next advances in this vital area of the school’s work.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic relationship manager who is highly motivated, creative, and intellectually curious, with experience of working within a fundraising or relatable field. We are looking for a dedicated colleague who will enjoy working across a vibrant constituency within a beautiful architectural setting to deepen philanthropic relationships between the school and its alumni and parent body.

• A recognised core mental health qualification plus specialist training in ASC/LD evidence-based therapies for children and young people
• Extensive clinical experience with autistic children, young people, parents and families, including work within CYPMH or wellbeing services
• Significant experience providing ASC/LD-specific clinical supervision and managing or overseeing practitioners
• Knowledge and experience of delivering clinical training or university-level teaching

Key details

Hours: Part-time (7 hours per week)

Whilst this will usually be worked on Mondays during term time, there may be occasions where you are requested, or you may request, to work flexibly and on a different day of the week to support peak points in the academic cycle, e.g. to meet marking deadlines.

Salary: £52,000 FTE per annum, plus 6% contributory pension scheme

Location: Hybrid (a mixture of home/onsite working): staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH). Flexibility will be required to attend in-person teaching days during term time.

Role description: You will work with local residents to continue our community engagement work, empowering residents to bring about positive change for North Leatherhead and facilitating their engagement in decisions affecting the local area.

Pay and hours: £16 an hour. 15 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend working.

Context:

North Leatherhead is in the top 5% most deprived neighbourhoods in Surrey, with one of the highest concentrations of foodbank use in the county and healthy life expectancy rates that are, on average, seven years lower than in South Leatherhead. A listening exercise by Mole Valley District Council highlighted the lack of community provision and the damaging impact of the closure of the children’s centre and other community buildings in recent years.

Leatherhead Community Hub (LCH) opened in March 2022 as a dedicated community centre in North Leatherhead. LCH provides opportunities for people to come together socially and build community, as well as giving partner organisations a permanent base from which to offer vital support. Our mission is to create a safe, welcoming space at the heart of the community, where people of all ages can connect, learn, have fun, and find the support they need to thrive. The Hub attracts around 3,500 visitors a month to our community café and the many other community activities run by LCH and other local groups.

One of LCH’s core values is to be community-led, and we are always looking for opportunities to take on board people’s ideas and develop their gifts. Last year, we set up a non-contact boxing project and we have plans for a new football project, in response to parents’ concerns about the lack of provision for children and young people. Responsibility for both projects is being handed over to local residents.

Role description:

You will be responsible for listening to, engaging with and empowering local residents to facilitate positive change in their community, with the following specific objectives:

· To establish a residents’ panel (or similar), giving local residents a greater say in decisions affecting local community.

· To organise an Annual General Meeting (or similar), ensuring that LCH is accountable to the local community.

· To carry out a community survey (or listening exercise) for North Leatherhead, to increase our understanding of the concerns and hopes of local residents.

In addition, we would like to explore ways to increase ownership and involvement of local residents in all aspects of the running of LCH. You will be employed by LCH, using the Hub as a base for networking and capacity-building, whilst also reaching out to other sections of the community. This role will require you to have a regular presence at LCH and in the wider community.

About The Role

• Extensive experience in the development and delivery of events, visitor experiences and engagement in the natural environment, arts and culture or attractions sectors.
• Ability to think strategically and identify areas where experiences can support the delivery of organisational strategy.
• Experience of building partnerships with external creatives and organisations.
• Ability to lead, inspire and motivate teams, both in a direct and matrix management capacity.
• Strong experience of managing annual budgets and projects up to £500k

While this post is based in Slimbridge Wetland Centre with the opportunity for hybrid working, it is expected that the role would work from site twice a week and as required for key meetings.

You will be responsible for organising work programs for yourself and a team of volunteers, with the ability to constantly adapt your plan according to changing conditions. This role at times can be physically demanding yet hugely rewarding and will more than satisfy your desire to work outdoors in a remote and stunning location. Familiarity with Handa Island would be an advantage however not essential. Weekly trips to Scourie (the nearest, but remote village) are necessary to do laundry, banking, shopping, and exchange gas bottles, therefore, a current driving licence and access to a vehicle are both essential for the role.

As Administration Assistant, you will provide crucial administrative support for the Administration & Supporter Relations Manager and other staff with tasks such as processing and recording residents’ leave applications, preparing thank you letters, assisting in the preparation and despatch of the monthly prayer diary and supporting the wider staff team with other administrative tasks as applicable (copying, laminating, data entry, document creation and editing).

As Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, callers, and residents. You'll warmly welcome guests and help direct enquiries as needed, and handle reception duties with professionalism. This includes staffing the reception desk, accessing calendars, sending emails, and performing other basic administrative tasks to keep the front office running smoothly.

Yeldall Manor is a Christian organisation, and this role requires a committed Christian faith to meet the occupational requirements (in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010). The Finance Officer will work within the Finance Department to provide essential day today financial processing, support and advice. The post-holder will be a key member of the team in keeping accurate and up to date records of the organisations financial activities on both the accounting system & associated files.

You’ll be based at the Wildlife Trust’s Head Office at Centre of the Earth, 42 Norman Street, Birmingham, B18 7EP, with some work at our EcoPark site in Small Heath and occasional travel across the region and nationally. 

Key Responsibilities

• Creation and maintenance of processes and systems to ensure the smooth running of the finance function including adding new suppliers and customers to the system
• To be responsible for keeping up to date and accurate records of financial transactions on Excel and the accounting system
• To raise and issue sales invoices, follow up outstanding invoices and resolve any issues.
• To liaise with suppliers and creditors to maintain relationships as part of cash flow management.
