Position: Project Operations Manager
Salary Range: £31,000 - £34,000 FTE depending on experience

The role:

The primary purpose of the Project Operations Manager role is to provide leadership to ensure that their project work is delivered successfully, to agreed targets, on time and within agreed budgets.

Responsibilities:

• To take charge of and lead their projects, and the staff and volunteers working on them. Ensure project work is delivered successfully, to agreed targets, on time and within agreed budgets. This includes project reporting, overseeing and managing website, media, online and other communications activities related projects, and managing project budgets.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of their Operational Plan.
• With the Trustee Board and grants team, support the revival of appropriate dormant projects and the creation of new projects. Contribute to and endorse grant applications and ensure funder targets and goals are met.
• Establish and maintain collaborative and positive working relationships with their Trustees and key staff.
• With the Support Manager, positively influence the culture within their to ensure it remains an inclusive, diverse and effective working community and continue the charity’s policy of highly supportive and positive management of staff and volunteers, ensuring that their Values are upheld.
• Contribute to ensuring effective welfare and safeguarding policies are in place that are understood and regularly communicated to volunteers and employees.
• Ensure they deliver excellent customer service, so that service users, external organisations and partners receive high-quality service and support; and ensure any complaints or issues are managed promptly and satisfactorily resolved.

About you:

They are seeking an experienced charity operations and/or projects manager who can bring skills, expertise and knowledge into their rapidly expanding charity.

Essential skills and experience:

• Previous experience of successfully managing UK charity or not-for profit projects and/or services, including financial and budgetary controls.

• Previous experience of successfully managing staff and, ideally, volunteers.

Our client works by permanently removing barriers facing disabled people and finding answers to the big issues facing them, alongside helping individuals. Their projects and partnerships deliver unique and lasting change and effective support that helps nearly all the 41,000 disabled people in Buckinghamshire – plus many beyond their county.

Uniquely, they are mainly voluntary charity. They have over 150 volunteers, mostly disabled people, supported by a small staff team, who themselves run their projects and services. Many of their volunteers are jobseekers or needing help to move forward in their lives and they actively support them by the way we work.

At Yorkshire Cancer Community, our vision is for everyone affected by cancer to have the best support possible. We are a patient-led charity, with a dedicated team of volunteers and staff who are passionate about helping anyone affected by cancer.

Working in partnership with West Yorkshire & Harrogate Cancer Alliance (WYHCA), we aim to help reduce cancer rates through our Cancer SMART project, which raises awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer, so people are better informed, attend screening and know where to go for help.

Our Patient VIEW project is dedicated to representing the voices of patients, carers and service users, ensuring they are central to decision-making processes within cancer care.

We provide impartial and independent information and listen to those affected by cancer to ensure that they are supported.  We signpost to other charities and support groups, share information, recruit for research studies and share stories via our monthly newsletter.

As manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring we reach our goals, by building relationships with other charities, organisations and diverse groups, recruiting volunteers, working with our board of trustees, working in partnership with the WYHCA, and line management of our two staff members  – Patient VIEW coordinator (FT) and administrator (PT).

Location: Home based - the charity covers all of Yorkshire and the Humber but the main projects and focus are currently within West Yorkshire and Harrogate areas and the postholder will be expected to travel to meetings and events

Key Tasks

1. To engage, manage and supervise Cancer Champions for the delivery of the Cancer SMART  programme with collaboration between Yorkshire Cancer Community and West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance.

Warm Welcome Partnerships Manager

To support the range and depth of partnerships we have and the potential we see, we are looking for a Partnerships Manager to work primarily on building partnerships with Local Authorities and public sector organisations, charities and social enterprises, faith-based and inclusion-focused organisations and other groups who might help us strategically grow and resource the Warm Welcome network across the UK (NB Corporate Partnerships are managed by our newly appointed Fundraising Lead for Corporates). The Partnerships Manager will also help develop our support for Warm Welcome Spaces, including overseeing our Champions Programme which offers more intense support and a Community of Practice to a smaller cohort of local groups.

Responsibilities

Building Partnerships

● Developing our Partnership Strategy to identify and engage the best potential partners to help us grow the network and reach our ambition of 100% of the population living within a 30-minute walk of a registered Warm Welcome Space. This will involve identifying and engaging partners in geographical ‘cold spots’ for the network (utilising our mapping tool developed with UCL), as well as forming partnerships to unlock new or under-represented types of Warm Welcome Spaces (e.g. Housing Association Community Spaces, cinemas, community spaces created by new housing developments etc).

● Leading the development of our Local Co-ordinators Cluster which brings together Local Authorities and others who are leading place-based networks of community spaces.

● Overseeing and developing the Champions Programme, providing more intensive support and connections to a smaller cohort of Warm Welcome Spaces.

Engagement and Inclusion

● Developing our Inclusion Strategy to identify and engage the best potential partners to diversify our Coalition and support local Spaces to become more accessible and inclusive.

● Working with the team to develop regular engagement activities for Warm Welcome Partners.

● Producing compelling communications (written and verbal) to promote the work of the Warm Welcome Campaign and grow the depth and breadth of partnerships - to include but not limited to partnership proposals, pitches and reports.

Good Practices, Standards and Systems

● Supporting, maintaining and developing existing partnerships and manage the systems (including CRM use) needed for excellent partnerships delivery, stewardship and development.

● Leading Warm Welcome Space good practice and driving up quality standards across the network, including through developing a Warm Welcome Awards programme.

● Promoting good practice in volunteering and supporting Spaces to maximise and grow volunteering opportunities.

● Working with the team and, using our new CRM, track, measure and analyse our partnerships delivery.

Reporting to the Campaign Operations Director, you will work closely with them and other Senior Directors to grow the range and impact of Warm Welcome partnerships. • Develop a clear process for identifying case loads and capacity for the Support Team.

• Identify opportunities, alongside the team, for cross team working - including residentials; family events; Science Educations workshops with regional meetups and education visits to schools and local authorities.

• Obtain, decipher and provide training to the Support Team on new updates relevant to Duchenne families, such as DLA, EHCP and more.

• Work closely with your team, to ensure that each family receives the best support possible, and that long-term support is provided.

• Lead on the development and delivery of monthly reporting of engagement and support contact, which will feed into the wider All Through Support journey. 

• To work with the Head of Operations and Events to contribute to Agenda topics and speakers from the community; assign roles for the conference to the Support Team.

• Establish a database for external stakeholders also supporting those living with Duchenne on a national basis, fed in to from the Support Team.

• To develop a triaging and caseload process for the Support Team, and how best to regularly monitor this.

• Be involved in the recruitment, selection, and induction of volunteers appropriate to your area of work.

• To maintain the contact database, keeping it up to date and accurate.

• Coordinate cover for the Support Team when there is sickness or leave.

Our highly customised Salesforce database supports every aspect of our work—capturing and managing data from volunteers, pupils, schools, and tutoring sessions. As Data and Insights Manager, you will make sure our system remains fit for purpose and help turn data into meaningful insights that can inform decision-making.

• Collaborate with external Salesforce development consultants to continue building our system capabilities and design.

Role - The primary focus of the role is to provide good quality information and advice to VCSE organisations based in Redcar & Cleveland that will support their development needs, including (but not limited to) key areas such as governance, funding, marketing etc. The post holder will have a key role in the development, delivery and evaluation of the Enhance service training offer.

Background (Summary)

Enhance is the newly funded VCSE infrastructure support service in Redcar and Cleveland made possible through the collaboration of a number of funders to fill a gap in local provision. 

Lloyds Bank Foundation, Rank Foundation, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Tees Foundation and the Woodsmith Foundation have provided three years of funding and commissioned MVDA to develop and deliver a VCSE infrastructure service (Enhance) in Redcar and Cleveland.

Enhance will provide practical support to VCSE organisations based in the Redcar and Cleveland area who deliver services to local people and communities. 

The service model for Enhance is based on three key areas:

Improvement – Providing practical support through an information and advice service.  This will include for example advice on governance, funding, policy and practice

Growth - The development and delivery of a comprehensive training programme for all VCSEs in Redcar and Cleveland

Influence - Work to support the building and development of relationships; collaborative work across the VCSE sector and cross-sector partnerships

The service will be based in Redcar and Cleveland and will provide an outreach service in the more rural areas of the borough to ensure the services are accessible to all local VCSEs.

About your team 

You’ll be joining our brilliant South Region team, which covers our largest region from Kent to Cornwall, offering numerous opportunities to contribute your expertise in a variety of contexts, from urban and suburban to coastal and rural settings. Across the south region, we currently work with 130 churches and have 150 faith guides, we’d like to see these numbers grow significantly over the next few years. 

In the south region we have the highest density of Christian holidays and festivals, with events that we organise and run directly and a variety of festival and missions that we support and partner with. You’ll have a fantastic opportunity each summer to get hands on engaged in these mission and festivals throughout the year. 

Our South Region also includes our vibrant capital, one of the most multicultural and ethnically diverse cities in the world, with over 300 languages spoken. With many like-minded missional organisations having a footprint in and around the capital, and all of the Christian movements and denominations represented here, London holds key strategic value and will be the focus of your ministry activities. Role - A strategic role, responsible for supporting, developing and maintaining effective partnerships to support the local VCSE sector and Redcar & Cleveland more generally. We’re looking for a Carer Assessment Service Manager to lead our countywide team in delivering statutory and preventative assessments in line with the Care Act 2014. You’ll provide leadership and day-to-day support to your team, oversee assessment allocations, and manage referrals through our internal CRM and West Sussex County Council’s systems.

You’ll also deliver staff supervisions, attend management and partner meetings, contribute to training, and support service development projects. A key part of the role involves quality assurance, trend analysis, report writing for senior leaders and commissioners, and managing assessment processes and budgets. You’ll stay up to date with Care Act legislation, ensure staff are trained accordingly, and take part in the duty manager rota to provide out-of-hours support and safeguard service continuity.

The role is mainly remote / homeworking with the expectation that you may need to travel on occasion to in-person meetings and training across the county. This role would therefore suit those located in, or close to, West Sussex.

The External Affairs Manager will work closely with the Director and provide vital support to NACCOM and its members by:
