We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and relationship-focused Regional Community Fundraiser to join our fundraising team and grow sustainable support across Surrey. Working from home and spending significant time within your region, you will act as the face of the charity locally, engaging individuals, community groups, schools, local businesses and volunteers.

About the role

This role will help to drive forward the public health, inclusion, and awareness team’s work across the UK, which is to empower patients and the public to play a full role in managing their own risk of getting breast cancer, diagnosing breast cancer earlier and improving their quality of life after a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, thereby reducing the risk of recurrence.

You will work closely with the Public health, inclusion and awareness manager to support the growth and expansion of a public health talks programme, leading on public health talks coordination. The programme is delivered through trained volunteers who are spread across the UK.

Your role will consist of coordination between individuals and organisations enquiring about booking public health talks as well as supporting with drop-in sessions for volunteers. You will also support the manager to update resources, action feedback from stakeholders and work with other teams within the charity such as volunteering. You will support with day-to-day tasks to ensure the smooth running of the wider public health, inclusion and awareness team.

This role involves frequent communication with a range of people through email, telephone and over MS Teams. You will use our database (Unity) to log all communications and to keep track of talks progress. Our database also tracks volunteer training and availability. Alongside our database, our volunteer portal allows you to interact with all the public health volunteers at once for events, online talks and resources.

About you

You will be highly organised, able to manage priorities and have excellent verbal and written skills. You will have solid customer service or stakeholder engagement experience. An excellent communicator who can handle issues sensitively. Additionally, you will have strong IT skills and have some experience with databases and GDPR or compliance.

You will be able to work independently, seeing daily tasks and projects through to completion. You can work collaboratively and promote equality, diversity and inclusion across your work.

Ideally you will have worked with volunteers before and have worked in the charity sector. You would have some knowledge of breast cancer or a willingness to learn.

Twenty minutes later, one of them- a boy who hasn't said a word in class all term, according to his form tutor- is on his feet, mid-sentence, telling the room what he actually wants to do with his life. That shift has happened because his Yes Futures coach believed in him, and in turn he now believes in himself.

Who we are

Yes Futures is a youth coaching charity. We put professional coaches in front of young people who would otherwise never get that kind of one-to-one belief and challenge: leadership coaches, life coaches and executive coaches, the kind normally hired by boardrooms. Our flagship programme, Rising Futures, works in secondary schools, where teachers choose the students they believe will gain most from it. That looks different in every school. It might be a student whose confidence has dipped, or one who has never once put their hand up in class. What we give them is the same: someone whose whole job is to believe in them, and the tools to start believing in themselves. 

The programme combines one-to-one coaching with experiential learning days: from pitching product ideas inside a real company on a World of Work day to raft building and rock climbing on an Into the Wild day; experiences many of our students would never otherwise get.

Introduction to the role

• Reporting to: Director of Programme
• Contract Type: Fixed term (6 months, with a genuine prospect of extension into a longer or permanent role, based on performance and demand)

• Deliver training, supervision, forums, celebration events and ongoing support to volunteers

• Build strong relationships with hosts to support retention, motivation, and engagement

Marketing and Stakeholder Management

• Develop and maintain effective partnerships with statutory and voluntary sector organisations

• Work collaboratively with partners to support young people’s outcomes

• Arrange and attend community events and meetings to promote the Nightstop service

• Represent the organisation confidently, speaking clearly and effectively about youth homelessness and the impact of the service

• Support development of client and volunteer stories for communications and fundraising

• Proactively promote the Nightstop service to engage our wider communities, delivering awareness sessions encouraging volunteer engagement

Administration

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all guests and volunteers

• Contribute to monitoring, reporting, and data collection

• Support financial processes, including payments and record-keeping

Other

• Work collaboratively and effectively as part of the wider team with regular travel nationally for team meetings

• Actively participate in regular supervision, appraisals, caseload reviews and team meetings with your line manager and the wider team

• Work within the principles of Trauma Informed Practices, and apply this to your daily work young people, volunteers and also within the team

• Participate in an on-call rota, including evenings and weekends (additional on-call allowance is paid)

• Provide out-of-hours support when required

• Undertake further duties as commensurate to the role, in line with Depaul Policies and Procedures and as identified by your line manager

Knowledge and Experience

• Experience of working with vulnerable people or those experiencing homelessness and the challenges they face

• Experience of managing volunteers, including promoting opportunities, recruitment, onboarding and retention in line with safer recruitment practices

• Knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, including welfare entitlements

• Experience of completing and implementing risk assessments

• Strong understanding and experience of implementing safeguarding principles and procedures

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent communication skills both in person and remotely including the ability to deliver training to volunteers, present to a variety of audiences and speak publicly

• Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a dispersed national team

In the 1980s, high unemployment and steep inflation was contributing to a shocking rise in youth homelessness across London. Thousands of young people were sleeping rough every night, with many areas notoriously dubbed “cardboard cities” due to the visible rise in street homelessness. Appalled by the scenes playing out across the capital, a group of people came together to tackle the challenge head on. Led by Cardinal Basil Hume and Mark McGreevy OBE, in 1989 Depaul UK was born.

Are you an excellent communicator who is able to motivate and empower others?

We are looking for new team members to join our service supporting Carers across Havering to improve their health and wellbeing, and access wider support that meets their needs.

This is a great opportunity to support local communities, working with Adult Carers and Young Adult Carers and helping them to make informed choices, build confidence, sustain their independence, and access support that meets their individual needs. You will carry out assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need, working together to co-produce support plans. This will involve meeting Carers in community settings and conducting home visits. The team also facilities coffee mornings and activities offering Carers opportunities for peer support and to take a break from caring.

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will support the development of escalation plans so that Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

We have a part-time role available (22.5 hours), and applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Carers and/or vulnerable adults in a relevant sector. It’s essential that you are confident using IT and maintaining excellent records. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services.

Due to the area covered by the service, you will need a valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Friends of the Elderly (FotE) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing excellent care with a family feel, we have been supporting older people for over 120 years. The charity provides care home and day care services for older people, as well as grants for older people in financial difficulty.

Redcot, specialising in residential care, is set in the delightful town of Haslemere, Surrey. Overlooking beautiful gardens and surrounded by countryside, much of which is owned by the National Trust, Redcot is blessed with a unique, tranquil setting.

Joining us as an Activities Coordinator, you will lead and encourage residents to join in meaningful activities whilst maintaining their independence, choice and dignity, to enable them to lead as full and active life as possible.

In this rewarding role, you will create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events, inside and outside of the home, for residents to enjoy. Working with each new resident to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities and needs, you will put together an individual social care plan and evaluate it regularly.

You will play a key role in engaging with the local community by initiating contact with community groups and enabling residents to partake / continue with hobbies and interests as desired. You will also help to recruit a network of volunteers to provide a variety of desired appropriate social opportunities as identified by the residents.
