Job description

Community One Walk Champion volunteers help build awareness of their local fundraising One Walk event; support the Breakthrough T1D Active Events team with event planning and logistics; and ensure their event is impactful and inspiring.

Community One Walk Glasgow will take place at Glasgow Green, G1 5QA on 12 or 13 June 2027 (tbc). This role is suitable for someone based in or around Glasgow.

What will I be doing?

  • Work within a small team of Community One Walk Champion volunteers to support the planning and delivery of a Community One Walk fundraising event in your local community.
  • Promote your Community One Walk through local networks, social media, and community groups to build interest and participation in the event.
  • Support the Breakthrough T1D Volunteer Manager to recruit local Event Crew volunteers to assist on the day.
  • Support the Breakthrough T1D Active Events staff team on the day of your Community One Walk to ensure an inspiring and successful event.

What skills or experience do I need?

  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Experience of working as a member of a team.
  • Confidence and willingness to promote a community event with local organisations, on social media, and using your own local network and contacts.
  • Confidence to approach local suppliers about requirements for a community event.
  • Willingness to support and encourage fundraising for a community event.

Where will I be based?

You’ll mainly be based in and around your own community as you contact suppliers and promote your Community One Walk event in your local area. A lot of this role can be carried out remotely, wherever you feel comfortable to plan and promote the event.

When do you need me?

We anticipate you’ll spend an average of 1-2 hours each week in this volunteer role, and this may increase in the last few weeks before your Community One Walk takes place if you have time to support.

You can volunteer any time during the week that suits you, to fit in around your existing commitments.
