As a Champion for ROLDA, you will play a crucial role in driving our online and in-person fundraising efforts. Scheduling: Mentors arrange sessions directly with mentees at mutually convenient times.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome professionals from a wide range of industries. Our current mentors come from backgrounds including law, mental health, business, civil engineering, and architecture. Each mentor is carefully matched with students pursuing similar career paths to ensure meaningful and relevant engagement.

You do not need formal mentoring experience. We are seeking dedicated, emotionally intelligent, and inspirational professionals from around the world who bring real-world experience, strong communication skills, and empathy, and who are passionate about helping others grow.

This is not a traditional mentorship programme — it is a structured pathway designed to help young Afghan women develop the academic and professional skills needed to move forward despite the severe restrictions placed on them inside Afghanistan.

Applicants should hold either a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of professional experience. They should demonstrate emotional intelligence, clarity in communication, and the ability to guide, inspire, and challenge thoughtfully. A reliable internet connection is also essential.

Our students have completed six levels of English and are now enrolled in one of four mentorship semesters. Each mentee follows her own unique path, whether:

• Pursuing an online university degree,

• Applying for scholarships abroad (Europe or the US), or

• Seeking remote work or internships (particularly for qualified professionals currently unable to work inside Afghanistan).

This is an opportunity to make a tangible, life-changing impact. The women in our programme are courageous, determined, and eager to learn, yet they lack access to role models and practical guidance from professionals in their fields.

As a mentor, you will help them take the next step, n whether that means applying for scholarships, building a career portfolio, or gaining the confidence and professional skills to work remotely.

Our long-term goal is to move towards a 1:1 mentor-to-student ratio, ensuring that each young woman receives the personalised support she deserves.

About the Role

Victory Afghanistan is seeking enthusiastic and committed Volunteer English Instructors to join our international online teaching team. We provide free English education to Afghan girls and women, helping them rebuild their futures through learning and mentorship.

Our next semester runs for 16 weeks, beginning 20 January 2026 and finishing 24 May 2026.

You do not need to be a qualified English teacher to apply, enthusiasm, reliability, and strong communication skills are most important. However, having teaching experience or a TEFL certificate would be advantageous. Join a multinational team of volunteers from 27 countries.

All curriculum materials, lesson plans, and assessments are provided. Volunteers only need to prepare for classes, teach their lessons, and complete light marking and feedback.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver two live online English lessons per week (1 hour each).

• Dedicate approx. 2 additional hours per week for preparation, marking, and communication.

• Follow the provided curriculum and assessments.

• Collaborate with co-instructors and program coordinators.

• Create a culturally sensitive and inclusive learning environment.

About the Students:

• All students are female and based in Afghanistan, aged 11 to 40.

Director of Finance & Resources

Purpose of the role

To provide strategic and operational leadership of the Company’s finance and corporate resources, with primary focus on (i) securing and stewarding capital to fund growth (grants, contracts, social investment, loans and—if applicable—dividend-capped equity), and (ii) ensuring that statutory accounts and regulatory returns are produced accurately and on time. The post-holder will advise the Board on financial strategy, risk, and organisational resilience.

Status
This appointment is initially voluntary (reasonable out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed). It is intended to convert to a salaried position once sustainable funding is secured and subject to Board approval, organisational need, and satisfactory performance. A formal review point will be held within 12 months of appointment.

Main responsibilities

1) Capital strategy and income generation

• Design and execute a capital-raising strategy spanning grants, service contracts, philanthropy, social investment, and (where appropriate) repayable finance or dividend-capped equity compliant with CIC rules.

• Cultivate funder, bank, investor and commissioner relationships; produce investment cases, decks and due-diligence packs.

• Lead pricing and full-cost-recovery modelling for traded services and bids.

2) Financial leadership, control and reporting

• Lead budgeting and medium-term financial planning; provide scenario and sensitivity analyses.

• Produce monthly management accounts, cash-flow forecasts and variance reports with actionable insights.

• Maintain accurate ledgers, reconciliations and internal controls (authorisations, procurement, segregation of duties, reserves and treasury).

• Manage the year-end process (audit/independent examination), statutory accounts preparation, and filing of the CIC34 alongside Companies House deadlines.

• Oversee payroll, pensions, expenses, VAT/Corporation Tax compliance (as applicable).

3) Governance, risk and compliance

• Act as principal adviser to the Board on financial risk; maintain the risk register and insurances.

• Ensure compliance with Companies Act, CIC Regulator requirements (including dividend caps if limited by shares), funder conditions, and data protection in finance systems.

• Be the lead interface with auditors/examiners, the bank, investment partners and HMRC.

4) Resources (people, IT, premises, procurement)

• Oversee efficient, compliant corporate services: HR administration, recruitment controls, onboarding and resource planning.

• Drive value-for-money procurement and contract management for key suppliers (finance system, IT, telephony, premises).

• Champion simple, accessible systems and reporting that support frontline delivery.

5) Leadership and culture

• Model ethical stewardship and the asset-lock; promote transparency and accountability.

• Develop finance/resources staff and volunteers; build financial literacy across teams.

• Contribute actively to Board decision-making as a statutory director.

Person specification

Essential

• Demonstrable success in raising capital (grants, contracts, social investment, loans or dividend-capped equity) within VCSE/social-enterprise contexts.

• Proven delivery of timely, accurate statutory and management accounts.

• Strong financial modelling, budgeting and cash-flow skills; ability to brief non-specialists.

• Hands-on experience with modern accounting systems (e.g., Xero/QuickBooks) and Excel.

• Sound understanding of governance, risk and internal controls for UK companies/CICs.

• Excellent stakeholder management and written communication; meticulous with deadlines.

Desirable

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent experience).

• Knowledge of FRS 102, Companies Act reporting, CIC dividend rules and the CIC34.

• Experience of commissioning/public-sector contracts or social-investment due diligence.

• Oversight of HR/IT/procurement in a growth environment.

Time commitment and terms

• Time: [e.g., 2–4 days per month], including Board/Finance & Resources Committee meetings.

• Status/Remuneration: Initially voluntary (expenses reimbursed). Conversion to salaried post at Board discretion, subject to secured funding, organisational need and satisfactory performance at a later review.
