Who we are
Trans+ Learning Lab is a UK CIC delivering life‑changing education and training to gender‑diverse folks in challenging contexts.
The Trans+ Learning Lab CIC is made up of myself (the founder) Helmut (they/them, he/him) and the Uganda Lead, Mama Mityana (she/her). The Uganda Lead receives a part-time wage to deliver stakeholder advocacy and training services in her country; I do not pay myself, and I finance everything from project delivery to procurement from my own savings.
We are seeking volunteer fundraisers to help us promote, update, and widely share our active and future GoFundMe campaigns and to help us form a funding pipeline in a more raitonal, proactive manner.
In our current project and campaign, we are trying to raise essential funds toward our Uganda training and upskilling incubator project in partnership with Tranz Network Uganda. This particular GoFundme campaign supports the delivery and sustainability of our entrepreneurship incubator.
With future fundraising and comms, you will be involved in shaping our strategy to generate income to implement our other educational mission: to deliver low- or no-cost coding bootcamps to vulnerable LGBTQ+ communities in Africa and South Asia, and to deliver refugee-specific empowerment programmes.
You will be actively helping vulnerable people access safer, more sustainable livelihoods through upskilling in Uganda, Kenya, Pakistan and beyond.
What you’ll be doing
- Promoting the GoFundMe campaign across your personal and professional networks in the first instance
- Help us design the strategy for, and support, future crowdfunding campaigns and comms
- Sharing campaign updates and calls to action on social media, newsletter and relevant community spaces
- Helping amplify key messages, milestones and calls to action
- Suggesting creative outreach ideas to increase reach and engagement
- Acting as a friendly ambassador for Trans+ Learning Lab’s mission
Who we’re looking for
- Someone confident sharing and generating impactful, engaging fundraising content and asking people to donate
- Someone active on social media and well connected to communities, networks and organisations
- Someone with direct experience of corporate responsibility schemes and engagement (desirable)
- A versatile, excellent written communicator
- A person who is reliable, values‑driven, and above all, respectful and supportive of trans‑led work
Ideally you will have accrued 2-3 years' professional fundraising and campaigning experience in the non-profit sector, but if you have an equivalent voluntary and pro bono expertise in minority causes advocacy and supporter-network building your application is warmly welcomed too.
LGBTQ+ persons are especially encouraged to apply, though allies are warmly welcome.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

NOTE: THIS IS A VOLUNTEERING ROLE
Job Purpose:
To support the Founder in translating vision into a structured, scalable, and executable business model. The role will focus on shaping strategy, building operational systems, and ensuring effective execution across the organisation during its early-stage growt
About the role:
This is a founding-level, hands-on strategic role within an early-stage CIC and academy. The Business Consultant will work closely with the Founder to define the organisation’s direction, establish operational foundations, and support team growth.
You will not only advise but actively build — creating systems, structures, and strategies that enable sustainable growth and long-term impact. This role is suited to someone who thrives in fast-moving environments and wants to play a key role in building a purpose-driven organisation from the ground up.
Experience Qualification and Requirements
- Experience in business consulting, operations, or startup growth
- Ability to translate vision into execution
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Proactive, solution-focused mindset
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, early-stage environment
- Passion for community impact and cultural change
- Confidence to challenge ideas and contribute strategic insight
- Experience in building systems, workflows, or organisational structures (desirable)
Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties
1. Business Strategy & Structure
- Translate vision into a clear, executable business model
- Define organisational structure
- Develop short, mid, and long-term strategic plans
- Identify revenue pathways and sustainability models
2. Systems & Operations
- Build and implement scalable systems and workflows
- Introduce tools and processes to improve team efficiency
- Create and document SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Improve internal communication and execution structures
3. Team Building & Hiring
- Design the organisational hierarchy
- Identify key roles required for growth
- Support recruitment of volunteers and future paid staff
- Contribute to building a high-performance, aligned team culture
4. Founder Support & Execution
- Act as a strategic sounding board to the Founder
- Bring structure to ideas and ensure follow-through
- Hold leadership accountable to timelines and deliverables
- Support decision-making with logic, data, and strategic insight
Additional Notes
This role is not suitable if you:
- Prefer low-responsibility volunteer work
- Avoid handling sensitive data or detailed reporting
- Are seeking immediate paid employment
- Are uncomfortable applying analysis to strategic decisions
Important to be clear:
- This is a volunteer role during the CIC’s build phase
- It carries real responsibility for data integrity and donor relations
Formal qualifications are not required, but desirable.
Essential equivalent experience mandatory.
Next Steps:
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to:
- A values-led conversation
- A practical discussion about event planning, coordination, and execution
If you believe that well-organised, purposeful events can change communities, and that experiences inspire action, this role is for you.
A Final Word
This role is about building, not observing.
If you understand that:
- Strategy without execution is ineffective
- Structure creates freedom and scalability
- Strong systems enable meaningful impact
- Leadership requires accountability and clarity
- Building something real requires challenge, ownership, and vision
Then you understand what this role stands for.
